As Vermont’s exclusive custom jewelry designer, The Vermont Gem Lab specializes in jewelry and engagement rings made from 100% recycled metals, ideal cut GIA certified diamonds and conflict-​free sapphires and gemstones.

Custom CAD jewelry is created to complement and celebrate a client’s life, love, and style. From hand carved Lake Champlain gemstones, to rare Sri Lankan sapphires, each custom piece is designed to be as unique as it’s owner– truly one of a kind.

Custom jewelry design consultations are done by appointment. It’s a personal and intuitive process that results in a piece that is created specifically for someone. Everything from skin color, profession, and lifestyle are vital elements in creating a piece that will be adorned for a lifetime.

Meet the Business Owner

Kennon Y.

Business Owner

Kennon Eli Young, a native Vermonter, was born in a house-​converted barn in Williston, VT. He first discovered his passion for jewelry in High School, where he was forced to choose between home economics and jewelry fabrication as an elective. Fortunately, he’s terrible at baking.

At the age of 18, he left Vermont for San Francisco, CA, where he attended the prestigious Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts. Top jewelers from all over the world teach at Revere, with subjects ranging from stone setting to chasing and repousee.

Working with gemstones led Kennon south, to the Gemological Institute of America in San Diego, CA. There, he studied diamonds and gemstones and became a graduate gemologist. He also took an elective for jewelry rendering and design.

With jewelry fabrication and gemology under his belt, Kennon began a several year study of Valuation in Personal Property, through the Rhode Island School of Design.
