Just had my tree trimmed. Called and got an estimate. I told them to trim my tree. They told me that they would call and sdt up a date. They called within 7 days and set a date. Called and rescheduled trim date because they werestill on a job. Came and trimmed the tree. Asked if trimming was good. I asked for one more limb be trimmed. They did a great cleanup. This is the 2^nd time that I used them. They did a great job both times. In the past I have used others with mixed results. I will use Timberline in the future.

I hired Timberline because they were the low bidder on a fairly modest tree trimming project in my back yard. Big mistake. I emphasized to the estimator and the scheduler that it was very important that they be careful not to damage the plants in the area where the tree was located. However, when the crew started, they were bombing branches down directly on the plants. I went out and asked the crew foreman to be more careful. He just smiled and ignored me. I was gone for a couple of hours and when I returned, the garden was covered with sawed off branches. When the crew removed the branches, sure enough, several of the plants had been crushed. When I called the office to complain, both the owner and the estimator came out to take a look. The estimator’s response to the crushed plants was: «They will grow back.» The owner’s response was essentially that I was being unreasonable when I expected them to trim a tree without doing some damage. Really? I will not use them again.

Long and short: this business is hit or miss.
I met with Steve on a Friday and did a thorough walk through of my property. We discussed removing several trees and grinding down numerous stumps. Steve said I would receive the quote via email on the following Monday. A week later, I never received the quote so I called the office to follow up. When I spoke to Chris, he said that there was an issue with my email and he would send it within the half-​hour. Well, another week went by and still no quote. I called again, my number was taken and was told that they would call me back with information. Well, no surprise… they never did call back.
Normally, I would never give a company this many chances but my mother has used them. Her experience was quite positive: their pricing was very reasonable and they have always done a wonderful job. Sadly for them, they will not be getting my business and it would have been for more than just tree removal.

I had a similar experience as a couple other reviewers — Steve actually came out to our property a couple times and verbally gave us a quote, but then never sent the actual written estimate which was necessary to get the job started. I never heard from him again despite repeated text messages, and despite leaving phone messages at least four or five times over the course of two months. After waiting so long in vain, I ultimately decided to go with another tree removal company (who was extremely responsive, well priced, and did the job very well).

One of the worst company to deal with they promise job but never showed up and never return your call.

This is one of those «luck of the draw» companies. You may get excellent service or you may call, call and then call again re your project and they have no problem not responding. I’ve seen the good side of them and the inexcusable side. Chris and the owner need a lesson in customer relations. So be forewarned! Service is inconsistent.

I was referred to these guys, but it’s been a total waste of my time. They never showed up to the first appointment. After the second appointment, they promise estimates that never show up. It’s been over two months and no estimate has ever arrived. They keep telling me they will look into it. Total waste of my time. Very unprofessional way to do «business».

Steve and the entire team are honest, hard working, and cheerful. This is a great company. I had an emergency situation with a tree about to fall and Steve cared enough to call a tree team off another job, drive a good distance, and start taking weight off my tree immediately. The next day they took the rest of the tree down and did a superb job in a tight spot, where property could have been damaged, and the public roadway/​cars were in jeopardy. Steve charges fair prices. If you want old fashioned decency and honesty, along with a company that uses the latest equipment, and good safety practices, then I would hire Timberline.

Timberline trimmed 4 large trees at out home and did an excellent job. The owner, Steve Willett, is excellent to work with and we will use them again. The price was very reasonable and their work done on time and left the house and property very clean.

We received an abatement notice for a property with no structures that had overgrown like a jungle. The property is on a hillside and has a creek running down the middle of it. I called about 10 places before I found Steve at Timberline. The price range from the other guys was insanely varied the highest being $ 10,000 to someone who wanted to put a couple of guys and machetes then charge for time which was also a messy and expensive way to go.
Steve saved the day. He had the most efficient method and oddly the BEST price. He is professional and courteous. Amazing service. I am about to call him again to clear the property one more time.

They removed several large redwood trees on my property over 2 ½ days. Professionally done at a fair price. They left the job site very clean and communication was very smooth.

Steve and his crew were referred to us by one of his commercial customers. They have done a lot of work at our house, including spending an entire week removing some very large downed trees. One time, they showed up about 20 minutes after we called, during a rainstorm (!) to cut trees that had fallen onto our roof and in the pool. Timberline worked with us to get our insurance claim submitted properly. Steve’s wife Linda runs the back office. Their son is also on staff. A great, local family business.
Like any other business, they probably treat large, frequent customers like us better than one-​time or smaller jobs. I’m going to guess that’s the reason for the negative reviews.

Excellent services. Timberline and Chris did an absolute perfect work on my many giant trees to remove them and cleaning the garden.

I collected several bids to take two major trees in my backyard in Pacifica. Both trees were gone, but it was a matter of timing or bad storm before they would go down. With two children in my home, it was a big worry for me. Timberline had the most competitive bid. I felt so fortunate to have them. They did a wonderful job. I was quote two days. They cleaned up on the first day and the second day, they left the backyard pristine! I am so impressed and highly recommend Timberline Tree Service. When my husband and I look in the backyard, we comment how great Timberline is! Thank you for your wonderful service!

The most inconsiderate bunch of guys to ever own a company. Parked their huge truck in front of my neighbors house and almost refused to move it when they asked them to. This company is not making any friends in this neighborhood.

Called this company to take away some tree’s that I cut down and they told me they’ll be by the next day to give me an estimate and the lady said they’ll be in between 9am-​4pm, but they never came so I called them up and they said ithe order was picked up and they’ll check with the driver too see what’s going on and they’ll call me back. They never called or stopped by so I called the next day and they said their guy was supposed to stop by last night but they don’t know what happened, so they’ll check up what happened and call me back so he can come by the next day. What a surprise no call back and no estimate. How unprofessional is that? I should have just called another company for and estimate.

Timberline is an excellent tree service company. I remember when Steve started Timberline as a fledging company in Burlingame almost 30 years ago. He has pruned my trees over the past 25 years, and has always done exceptional work and excellent clean-​up at a very reasonable price. Timberline pruned my large Pittosporum tree today artfully and exactly as I requested, with exceptional clean-​up. Timberline has provided excellent tree service in our neighborhood for many years. I have observed Timberline utilizing exotic crane machinery to remove trees in difficult locations. This is a very professional tree service company. I would strongly recommend Timberline for your tree service needs.

It is hard to compare when this is my first experience with a tree removal service. You can rate them for yourself.
As for me, the initial quote for the tree service went well. I made an appointment with Chris and he showed up. He gave me a quote to remove some trees as well as the stumps.
After a few weeks, I called them to schedule an appointment. They gave me an appointment time and the staff showed up to remove the trees on that day. However that was the end to the speedy service.
I called a few days later to inquire about the stump that needs to be removed. They said they would get back to me. They never got back. In a few days, I noticed ¹⁄₃ of the stumps were removed. That was good and another few days go by. I had to call them back. The receptionist was nice and said they would inquire about it.
They came and finished another stump. Now ½ the stumps have been grind. I called again. They called me back and said that they needed to check the quote. They checked the quote and indeed all the stumps need to be grinded.
They called me back to say they will grind the stumps. They never confirmed a time but just that they will get to it. After numerous phone calls and a span of almost two weeks, they finally finished all the stump grinding. Not sure if a typical tree removal and stump grinding takes a half-​dozen phone calls to complete.

Cheap? Yes. Worth it in the long run? No. They damaged my property by running a bobcat through my fence. They did not fix the fence. They pushed mounds of dirt mixed with wood chips against the side of my house and patio (approximately 12 cubic yards of it) and left it there. I had to shovel it off the house and patio. Bottom line: Go with someone else.
