Mola is AMAZING! I found her on Unilocal after moving to the area and have been going to her ever since. She is so flexible and always try to fit you into her busy schedule. I love the fact that she ask you ton of questions prior to make sure the result turn out exactly what you are looking for. I’ve gone through several bad hair stylist and I’m so glad i found Mola because she really knows how to make you look good.

Mola is awesome. Holidays were really busy so I was very patient and waited for the next appt that she had available in January and it was well worth it. Words do no justice, look at my pictures. I had fried lion-​looking hair and was tired of the yellow-​orange ends. All I wanted was a haircut to get rid of my dead ends (but to keep the length) and I wanted to go back to dark natural healthy hair for a while. Holy crap, she did just that. The cool thing is, the color changes to different shades of brown in the sunlight. I think I was just there for about 2.5−3 hrs which is pretty good considering I have extremely thick hair. Free parking lot a huge plus– I was able to keep my car there and walk through the shops of Burlingame the rest of my day without worrying about the meter running out.
Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely come back when I start itching to add more colors to my balayage hair. Mola also recommended some good hair products and I appreciate her being honest about where I can find good deals rather than pushing me to buy it at the salon. Thank you, Mola!!!

This review is way overdue but I have to write it because MOLA is just AMAZING! I’m a mother who lost her way in motherhood and needed to feel pretty again. I was ready to freshen up with a new look but because of my negative past experiences I was a little anxious. I have spent a lot of money on high end salons that did not know what to do with asian hair. I then tried out asian salons who also did horribly on my hair — keep in mind, I am not a very picky person. I emailed Mola to make an appointment and she got back to me and wanted to know about my hair and its condition.
When I arrived at my appointment there was barely a wait — other salons I’ve been to have me waiting for while. When it was my turn, Mola cut my hair with such expertise. I had thick, long hair and most places take a long time cutting it. Mola was so efficient, she knew just what to do and just like that we were on to coloring!
Her coloring was PERFECT and as my hair has grown out, it’s just added more dimension. It’s been a couple months since and I still get compliments. I did and ombré balayage with brown, red, and blonde. It’s gorgeous!
Not only is she good at what she does, but she is very personable and reasonable. I’ve been recommending her to my friends. Mola, you have won me over, I am never going to another hair stylist again! Can’t wait to see you for my next appointment!

Mola did a great job on my hair! I made an appointment and luckily she had a cancelation and emailed me back so I got to do my hair early :) my hair is dark brown and she made is light Ash brown. I didn’t really know what color I wanted but I just told her Ash brown and she made my hair light Ash brown all in one try! The salon is very pretty and in a secluded Corner. The only thing I would say is that the prices are in the high range. I didn’t expect to pay $ 290 for what I got (haircut, whole head dye, and highlights), but overall she did a great job. Definitely will go back to her, but I definitely need to save up before I go lol

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this happy with my hair color, so I am very happy to write this 5 star review for Mola today. It’s been a real struggle for me to find a colorist in the Bay Area that has openings. I’m fortunate enough to get an appointment that was no more than 2 – 3 weeks away from when we emailed. Since today was Saturday the parking lot was packed but I got lucky and scored the spot that is reserved just for the salon. Don’t forget to get a ticket from the attendant so you can get it stamped in the salon after you get your hair done.
I wasn’t nervous, but I was super excited to get the orange out of my hair. It’s been about 7 – 8 months since I’ve done anything to it and it looked super disgusting. I saw the hair makeovers that mola has done and I’ve been impressed with them all, so I had hopes that she could work her magic on me too!
Mola is super friendly, easy to talk to and explains everything she’s doing. She did highlights and blended everything together. She was able to get my stubborn hair to get lighter to the perfect ashy blonde I was dreaming about and also did not leave me with orange roots but instead put a color on my roots so that it would look good. Thank you for that because I would be super sad with orange hair again!
Prices are fair. Since I have longer hair and used more product, my total was on the higher end. But I wasn’t surprised. Just know that if you’re going in, you’re paying for what you get. You pay the price for the results you want and will be happy with in the end.
I love my hair right now. The color is perfect but I will be going back to see Mola in a few months because I definitely want to go lighter as spring approaches.

Mola is absolutely incredible! I’m a ponytail type of girl because I’ve always felt like my hair was too thick and blah to do anything with it. Not anymore! She is so talented. I knew i was in good hands from our first email. She took the time to ask me questions and get pictures of what i have and what i want, so when i finally got in to see her, she did her thing and I was able to just relax. She is fun, vibrant, skilled and very easy to talk with. I related to her a lot and that made the experience even better. Color, cut and I’m a new woman. I’ve found my girl. Thanks Mola! Came back to Mola from my last visit bc I wanted a different look.
From my first visit with her, I went from being blonde to being a red head and now I am ash blonde!!! She called me crazy for going back and forth but I guess blondes just have more fun!
We emailed back and forth about a month ago and luckily she was able to take me in Christmas Eve!
My hair was quite a mess… I originally wanted to be a red head bc I thought being blonde was too much of a hassle to tone but boy was I wrong about the red! It was such a beautiful color but the color bleeds in the shower and fades to this auburn light brown. Although that doesn’t sound that bad, my roots were grown out a lot and then came an inch of red and the rest was brown.
Mola is really helpful when giving advice on what looks good and what she thinks is best for your hair. She warned me that it may take a few sessions in order to protect the integrity of my hair which is understandable. I knew for sure not to expect too much bc my hair has been through a lot.
The whole appointment took about 4 hours and it turned out better than I expected!!! I am obsessed with this whole ash blonde/​gray balayage look so I was so glad it turned out how I wanted after all!

I love this hairdresser! She is amazing. She knows the art of lifting dark hair and brightening into whatever you want. No brassiness whatsoever.
I’ve wanted to write a review for a long time but I got busy. Anyway, I came in with a hot mess of hair all orange and yellow. My hair was pretty dry and terrible. She worked her magic and gave me an olaplex serum that perked my hair up.
I didn’t walk out of the salon with the hair that I envisioned, it was much darker than I had hoped. But considering that it was in terrible shape, she actually did a great job in evening out my hair color, and putting in highlights. About a year later, my hair has beautiful golden highlights and is much healthier now. Exactly what I got if I had just went to her in the first place…

She communicates. Do you like to email? I do! It was anazing — finally a hair dresser keeping up with the times.
What do you want? Great, because that’s exactly what you’ll get. Do you want her input? Yes, she can do that for you without taking away your hair goals. She’ll be honest too. Dying to blonde from black is a process. Even if your hair is healthy, you might have to come back for another appointment. Be realistic. Unless you want fried, brittle hair. she’s pretty professional too. Easy to talk to, but not at all overwhelming.

For the area and the skill, she is fair in pricing. I can’t remember what I paid, but I don’t remember it being outrageous like getting my hair done in San Francisco.

I would recommend to friends wanting color done, especially if they have black hair. She is down to earth, and doesn’t shame you like a lot of other hair stylists for going lighter. I wish I didn’t have to tell the world, but she deserves good press since she’s earned it.

6 months later… I finally came back to get my hair done again! It was a good thing I was able to squeeze in an appointment before the holidays because she mentioned that she was pretty booked up next month. Everyone’s trying to get their hair done for the holidays and the new year! I didn’t mind doing it this early since I wanted it to fade later on anyways.
I skipped class just to get my hair done and it was much needed and well worth it. My original appointment was at 1:30pm but luckily someone cancelled and Mola was able to take both my sister and I at 10:30am. It took four hours to finish the both of us.
I was so ready to get my hair done since my hair was starting to turn orange-​y/​warm. The color prolly warmed up faster than it should have because I got lazy using my purple shampoo. It was obvious… anyways, I really gotta start using it again to prevent my hair color from fading into an orange-​y color and to maintain its ashiness right now.
My last hair color was very low maintenance. As you can see, I didn’t have to come back until half a year later. What I asked for this time was pretty much the same thing as last time I think, but I guess the highlights are a little brighter and my hair’s a little lighter? It’s a balayage with highlights. Now I know what to say when people ask what I did with my hair…
I was so scared during my first appointment, but now that I’ve seen my hair lighten up over the past few months, I’m honestly not scared to do something different, like lighten it up a little more every time or something. Yay!
I really don’t think I can trust anyone else to do my hair at this point. Once I find someone that I like, especially with my hair, I’m definitely gonna stick with them! The only time I come out with pretty, neat hair is when I come out of Mola’s. I never style my hair, or rarely ever, any other time.

I came to Mola for balayage highlights/​ombré and a haircut and it turned out absolutely amazing! I showed her a few pictures of what I was going for and she took the time to tell me what would and wouldn’t look good with my hair. My previous hairdressers didn’t really know how to work with asian hair and my hair was kinda brassy but Mola was able to fix it. Her prices are very reasonable considering the quality of her work. I would definitely recommend her, I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair!

Mola is amazing !! Seriously if you have to do your hair, go to her place! I’m from France, and since I’ve been here in Cali, my hair changed. I’m use to have my hair very long and brown. But with the sun they started to be dry and turned red. And I really loved my brown hair. But I was like «Why not trying something new?» I seriously had to do something! So I thought I had to do a Ash balayage, because it’s very soft and not to blond. I googled it and I found pictures of Mola’s work and I loved it! It was exactly what I wanted to have ! Everybody knows that I love my hair more than anything else, I’ve never trusted any hairdresser, and I was always saying «I’m never gonna touch my hair», I was so scared ! But when I’ve seen Mola’s reviews on Unilocal,I started thinking it was the time to try something new, so idk why I trusted her. And I was right ! OMG she’s done the best work ever on my hair, I love it!!! More than before! Even if she cut a lot lol.
Because yes, I wanted to cut a little bit, but I didn’t have the money for it. She didn’t even know me and she told me «come back later to pay me don’t worry». That was really nice seriously ! I really appreciated, so professional!

Mola is amazing!!! She comes highly recommended by a few of my friends. not sure why I took so long to book my appointment! I am so glad I did though… contact Mola a few weeks in advance… She is definitely worth the wait… I came in with a photo of what seemed to be the white unicorn of balayage hair… I say that because I have gone to a few artists that have butchered my hair (please see before photo… not pretty, orange/​brassy mess). I have never gotten what I wanted until today… and then some! I love my hair and i can’t wait to go back to Mola again. Mola knows Asian hair and the dreaded brassy look, she gives advice on how to take care of this investment, without being pushy on buying products. The salon is very small but cute and there are plenty of street parking! Cash is helpful, but she accepts cc and venmo too!

I finally did it… I went red. And I’m very happy that we found Mola. She’s amazing at what she does. Went on the hunt a couple months back to find a hairstylist for my boss. Ran into Molas reviews and they were all very positive, so boss made an appt. When she came back her hair looked great. My courage was slowly raising to try her out. Made the appt was terrified (I have never done anything drastic to my hair, bad with change) went in and she gave me her opinion and I went ahead and let her work her magic. I’m in love with my hair, and I’ve been getting compliments from our clients and my friends and family. There is no way that I’m going anywhere else. She amazing!!!

Mola is amazing! Obviously she’s so popular and it might take a while before you can get an appointment, but that’s for a good reason and is so worth it!
As I work 9 – 5 I wanted a late evening or Saturday appointment. When I first emailed her she said the first available appt was a month away. I was not in a hurry, so she booked me for 6pm on a weekday. She asked me for a pic of my current hair and an image of what you’re looking to get. I think this helped a lot, so we were on the same page about what my hair was going to look like.
She’s soo nice, very easy to talk to — I don’t usually talk much when I get my hair done, but she’s not one of those who makes superficial conversations for the sake of talking, is genuine and I really appreciated that.
I don’t think I need to say much about her skills. I mean look at all the Unilocal pictures. Gorgeous. My hair? I came in looking pretty terrible and walked out feeling like the hottest thing on the planet! ;) Love, love, love how it turned out! And it only took 2.5 hours. She said it depends on your hair, but considering some stylists can spend over an hour just cutting your hair, this is pretty darn fast.
I liked it so much that I booked my next appt before I left. She said holidays are really busy time for her. So I recommend sending her an email (she prefers email over text/​call) now if you want a total transformation!

Mola did a GREAT job on my hair. It was the first time I’ve ever colored my hair and I absolutely love it. She also cut my hair to a great length!
There were some points where my head was hurting from a bit of tugging but it happened at every salon I go to so I didn’t mind that much. She also doesn’t let you see your hair transformation until she’s finished. But I got a glimpse of it by accident and omg. I was so scared that it was gonna end up all awkwardly blonde. But I forgot she hadn’t done my roots yet lol. All was okay though because I was trusting Mola with my hair. After about 3 hours, my hair was done. She turned the chair around and I was so stunned by how great my hair looked. If I ever want to change my hair color, I’m definitely going back to her.

I came back after a year since I first saw Mola and she was even more amazing this time! I will definitely be back again. She’s great and also fun to talk to which is great because I’m usually there for several hours when getting my hair done. Highly highly recommend! Thanks Mola.

I’ve found gold! Mola is incredibly talented at what she does. I am extremely happy with my hair and will not trust anyone else with it. She turned my almost lifeless black hair into a beautifully highlighted golden honey brown. She sweet and knows what to do with little instruction. I showed her an inspiration photo and she nailed it. Turned out better than I hoped. I’m extremely grateful to have found her. She’s also very responsive to emails. Love love love my hair! Xoxo

Some more details for those who ask:
Mola amazing for bayalage and ombré especially for Asian hair! My touch-​ups are about $ 135 (+$ 45 for cut) and takes up to 3 hours. She charges per «application» and for mine it’s like 3 different things, so it’s ends up being $ 135ish. Yours can be cheaper or more depending on the results you want. She’s definitely worth it, considering the low maintenance of bayalage — I only do a touch up every 6 months or so.

I love when salons/​stylists email promptly when you first inquire about their services and Mola is awesome at communication!
I was recommended by a friend and really nervous since I’ve never really had my hair cut, colored and styled. I know, weird, but I don’t really care for my hair the way other girls do. But I think Mola has definitely changed that for good! She was so quick and efficient that I barely noticed she finished cutting my hair! She mixed my color so fast and she really walked me through the process. I’ve never been so relaxed and never had a full conversation with a stylist before. It was surprisingly very relaxing and I barely noticed 3 hours went by.
The salon was cute and very quaint, Mola was very professional and listened all my opinions and what I wanted to do. I loved being the few people there with her. There’s nothing worse than going to a salon with 30 other people talking, blow drying, yelling at each. Im more relaxed when there’s less people to yell over.
Overall my experience was awesome and Mola will definitely see more of me in the future!

I’ve done two sessions with Mola in hopes to achieve a silver/​gray Balayage. The result of each session seem to surprise me because my hair always turns out better than I would imagine it to be. Although we haven’t fully achieved the silver color, it’s understandable that such light color will have to undergo several sessions of highlighting and coloring. So, in my opinion, she has a pretty good sense of how much your hair can take when it comes to bleaching.
One thing I would suggest is to ask for Olaplex (to reduce hair breakage) if you’re going to lighten your hair. Mola will recommend it if you have already damaged hair. Although it costs extra, I highly recommend it because it’ll keep you hair from having that «fried» texture after the process.
My hair is not very easy to work with– it seems to have a lot of red in it, so whenever I undergo a bleaching/​lightening process, it always looks coppery and yellowish. But Mola seems to know wassup, and for both sessions, she was able to make my hair look ash blonde by toning it to a perfect ashy color.
What I also love about Mola is that she’s upfront. She’ll break down the process, tell you exactly how she’s going to do it, and tell you how long and how much it’s going to cost. Mola is also a great conversationalist and has made the time pass pretty quickly when we waited for my hair to process.
