Garden Designer and Landscaping

Based on Unilocal reviews, I emailed Garden Designer Landscaping to get an estimate to overhaul our yard. I received a fairly prompt response from Daniela asking for our address so she could do a drive by. I responded with the address, and asked if she’d like to set up an appointment where we could flesh out what exactly it is we are looking for. Crickets. It has been two months and I haven’t heard a peep since. Follow up emails have gone unanswered. I hate to leave a negative review for a company I never got the chance to work with, but I think the ability to schedule appointments and be responsive to potential clients is important.

I was really looking forward to working with Daniela on a complete front and back yard overhaul. Daniela set one appointment, said she’d be 2 hours late, and then never showed up. I gave her a 2^nd chance, and was hopeful when she and a worker arrived on time to discuss the work. However, after more than a week the estimate did not arrive. She returned my call and email saying the estimate was on the way, but it again never arrived. I was very dissapointed with her professionalism; I know new businesses sometimes have a hard time handling demand, but my #1 pet peeve with contractors is lack of communication and not delivering on timelines. With some better time-​management skills, it sounds like this business can improve and match what seems to be landscaping skill (based on other reviews) with business savvy. Until then, think twice about using this company.

Bottom line, hire Jorge. We’ve dealt with some of the major garden and landscaping businesses in town for several years. Each time the price tag was astronomical and worse yet, the outcome was less than satisfactory. They planted things that didn’t work and put in so many shrubs we had to remove some. I was dreading dealing with them again so I turned to Unilocal for help.
When I read Daniel W’s review I thought I’d give Jorge a try. All I can say is «Thank you Daniel». Jorge was professional from start to finish. He came back with a very fair estimate. The first time we met he listened intently to what I wanted done and when I asked if he had any suggestions for some problem areas he came up with some great ideas. We were delayed a few days due to rain but he called as soon as he thought it might be an issue and made arrangements that worked with my schedule.
The day he showed up with his crew they promptly started work and didn’t stop until the job was done. Jorge knew my vision and made sure all aspects of the job were topnotch. While they were working he asked if they could move another plant to a better place in the yard. I agreed then told him if he had ideas that he felt would work out better go ahead and do it. Am I glad I did! Everything looked spectacular when the job was complete. A couple of my neighbors even stopped by to tell me the yard looked great.
Jorge does spring and fall cleanup too and I definitely plan on hiring him again. I agree with Daniel W. — Jorge is courteous, friendly, and professional and I’d like to add efficient. Check out the before and after pictures on his website. My advice to my fellow Unilocalers, don’t waste your time and money getting estimates or paying for so-​so landscaping. Call Jorge and let him make your yard beautiful for a fraction of the cost.

When it came time to hire someone to clean up our lawn before we moved out of Arlington, I had no idea how expensive professional landscapers are. We contacted one of the more well-​known shops in the Arlington area who came back to us with a $ 1,000 estimate for a tiny lawn.
Determined not to pay Big Landscaping premium price, I took to the intertubes and found Jorge and Daniela. Man, am I glad I did.
Prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional. Oh, and they came back with an estimate of HALF of what the other knuckleheads wanted to charge us.
They did a bang-​up job. Our house had the most neatly-​manicured lawn in the neighborhood.
This couple deserves your business if you’re in the market for professional landscaping.
