I went to the Connecticut Avenue/​DC location to see if they could recover some photos that I accidentally deleted when I was downloading from my camera to my computer. I felt nervous paying $ 60 for the recovery program/​process, without a guarantee of success, but I went with it, because graduation photos are once-​in-​a-​lifetime. And the good news: ALL of the photos were recovered. I couldn’t be happier!!!

Been going to the place since high school (used to be called Photo Craft). Great knowledgeable staff that is helpful… I mean really helpful and not just trying to make a sale. Prices are on par with other online sites but the benefits of actually holding a physical piece of equipment before making an investment is priceless in my book. If you’re in the Northern Virginia area, its well worth a trip to their store.

What a great camera store! I’m amazed at how much inventory they fit into this space, and yet it doesn’t feel crowded. A tad tight yes, but not crowded. And it’s worth it, to be able to touch so many options of products and make a good decision.
The lady who helped me was very nice and knowledgeable. She knew her stuff! She was a great listener — not trying to upsell me, but concentrating on finding exactly what I was looking for, and in my price range. She even demonstrated the product very thoroughly, so I could know exactly what I was buying.
When I got home from buying the item at this store, I googled the item to compare the price. At niche stores like these nowadays, I fully expect a price hike. But I was very pleased to see that the price was exactly on par with online sites. Fantastic! I will definitely be back!
This is the sort of customer service that has really been long-​gone in society. I’m so glad this store values their customers; and it’s obvious they also value the photography profession.

Love this place. I usually go to Ace Photo when I need stuff quickly since it’s just down the street from my house, but I come over here when I need to make a large purchase and I absolutely LOVE IT. You can’t beat the «ask for better price» provided by these guys. It sometimes even beats buying from BH! The staff are super helpful and tentative to your needs. They are very friendly and open. I do not feel intimidated when I shop here one bit unlike some other local camera stores.
This is about a 45-​minute drive from where I’m at, but it’s definitely worth the drive.

This store is awesome! Whenever I need any film or camera accessories, I come here instead of waiting for a shipped product I would buy online. The people who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them!

The staff is so amazingly helpful. I’ve been trying to deal with a warranty for months and when I came to the store the staff went above and beyond in helping me and mine figure out what to do. I am so grateful and will definitely come back here for my next camera related purchase.

I love this place. My go to place for anything photography related. I’ve bought ND filters here, umbrellas and more. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I love the fact it’s family owned, they don’t try to sell or push you into buying something you don’t need. Would highly recommend this place for any photographers or anybody looking into getting to photography.

So happy I found this fabulous store. Bought a Nikon 24 – 70 f/2.8 and a 300 f/2.8
I believe it was the manager I dealt with; he was friendly, gave me an extended warranty at no cost and chopped the price. His friendliness has secured my business for the foreseeable future. Their store is well laid out with all the products easily displayed. While I was talking to him I noticed they even carry the Zeiss Otus 55 f/1.4 and the 85 f/1.4, two of each! That’s gotta be close to $ 20,000 worth of lenses in a linear foot of display space.
Can’t wait to drop more money in this establishment, please spend your money wisely and shop at PhotoCraft.

Jack is my main man there!!! They have been there every step of the way for me, from hobbyist to professional. They have never once tried to over sell me, and I have always walked out of that store with exactly what I need, and the confidence to put it all to good use. They are judgement free! So whatever your skill level, you can be sure that you can go in and shop and ask questions comfortably, as well as if you are a seasoned pro, these guys are going to know their stuff so they can get you exactly what you need without time wasted! Great selection of rental equipment as well! Love these guys.

They wanted to charge me $ 25 each to make a larger copy of a old photo I had. There are 5 people in this photo.

Excellent service, knowledgeable staff and best prices. My wife and I have long been thinking about buying a nice camera. Now that we are expecting our first baby soon, it became a must. We had no idea about professional cameras, lenses, options, etc. The sales staff spent hours answering all our questions, explaining options and advising what we need and what we don’t.
After all the advice and information we needed, we compared the prices with other stores, Amazon, Costco and online sellers, and found that the prices here were less than everywhere else.
We ended up buying Canon EOS 6d with two lenses: 24−105mm & 70−300mm; flash; Speedlite 430EX Flash, and carry case. Very happy with the store and professional staff! Definitely will be back for more bells and whistles!

I was in a pinch and needed to buy a video monopod on a Saturday morning before a wedding. They were the ONLY store in the DC area that had this specific Benro monopod. So I called Friday I told them I can’t make it before they close at 6 but I WILL buy this monopod and I need it before I wedding tomorrow. They said sure come in a little earlier and someone will be there to help you out. I got to Photo Craft around 930 and quickly purchased the monopod with no hassle and then went straight to the wedding.
They have a GREAT selection of lenses, cameras, and REAL professional products unlike other camera stores that mainly push accessories like cleaning kits and dinky camera bags.
I only knock down one star because of their hours. For weekend shooters/​corporate 9−5-er’s like myself, it’s tough to make it to Photocraft after work on Fridays. With DC rush hour traffic it’s almost impossible to make it before they close at 6pm. They could probably make a bit more money if they stayed open a tad later for weekend warriors like myself who need last minute gear before a weekend shoot.

Such a great little camera shop. Great customer service and they were able to fix my broken (mirrors were misalligned) DSLR for $ 35. Worth the drive from Annapolis to have this great service.

I got my passport photo done here. The service is friendly and they take great pics. They were busy and i had to wait 20 minutes for my photo but it is well worth it. Much better than the mug shots you would get at CVS.

I came here before a year or two ago when the store was much smaller in a different location in the same shopping center. Well about a week ago I decided to come back becauase I was looking for a new camera bag. Originally I was going to purchase a camera bag online, but realized that I need to physically see them before I purchase them.
I found a nice camera bag that suited my needs. I know
was charging $ 270 for the bag I wanted. I figured a mom/​pop retail store couldn’t compete with BHPhotoVideo’s prices. I was curious though so I brought the camera bag up to the register and asked the price of the bag. The gentlemn said «it is $ 270» but before he could finish I was thinking in my head «oh ok not bad. same price as BHPhotoVideo». but then he added on «that’s not including the additional 25% off sale we have on this bag going on». my eyes and jaw dropped. From buying from a local mom/​pop camera store, I saved about $ 70 on my camera bag. I couldn’t believe it.
Also, there was some dust on the bag. I asked if there happened to be a ‘newer’ one in the back. The gentleman went back to check but didn’t see any. He said it was just some dust and he took the bag back and vaccuumed it/​lint removed it and it looked brand spanking new!
This is by far the best camera store in the area. It blows Ritz and Penn Camera away (maybe that’s why Ritz and Penn Camera don’t really exist anymore).

My wife and I stopped in here as we were in the shopping center and photography is her hobby. You would have thought that she died and went to heaven. The staff is very knowledgeable of the product and very willing to help answer any of your question. My wife has a nice tripod but needs a ball for it and he gave the rundown on what he had and process were actually really fair. We also have a dark room in our house and they not only still sell film, they sell the supplies to develop it. Score!
The selection here was really good as well and they buy old equipment back so that is a plus too if you have some old gear and need to score some cash!
Bottom line, this place should satisfy your photography needs whether it be film, lighting, tripods, diffusers, or a back pack… this is your place!

I discovered Photocraft after they merged with a long-​time favorite camera dealer of mine, Embassy Camera, in DC. The Photocraft location in Burke, VA happened to have stock on the piece of gear I was looking for at the time. Eldar was very helpful, offered a price competitive with anyone either online or retail and customer service that is extremely rare anymore.
Since that time in 2008, I have bought every piece of Nikon equipment I have purchased new from Eldar at PhotoCraft and would recommend him and the staff at PhotoCraft to anyone that is interested in working with a local small business that values their customer’s satisfaction over all else. It does not get any better than this.

I do like Photocraft. Their staff is attentive, honest about products and they have lots and lots of things made from glass, some of which are made of magical ED glass. It’s really a pretty great place. Their prices are mostly on par with almost anything you’ll find in an online storefront. I wish they were open longer hours, but I cannot fault them for wanting to go home every once in awhile!
If I had to mention something that I disliked, it would be that the store is a little tight. But, they’re moving a few doors down in the strip mall very soon, and I even heard that they’ll have an isle in the new place as well as possibly be offering rentals. Wicked. Now I won’t have to wait on * and * to ship me some gear!
They do printing. I’m not sure what their prices are. Honestly, I’ve usually printed online and sent them to clients so I can’t comment on that. I do see lots of people going in there and picking them up though.
I really like that they let me go play with things all the time without ever giving me the stink eye, asking for my ID or thinking I’ll mess up an expensive piece of glass. It’s definitely led to a sale or two over the time I’ve been checking them out. They’re trusting, and I respect that about them. It goes both ways. You can tell they don’t want you to spend a grand on something you’ll be unhappy with.
They offer a 2 week return policy, obviously if you haven’t damaged the goods you’ve bought and they’re still in pristine shape. Not hard to do if you’re careful and respect your own gear. I recently bought a lens here and it was quite obviously faulty. They totally saw the problem right away and were apologetic and promptly refunded me. (I inevitably put the money towards a more expensive option, but that’s just me!) Service.
I never give 5 star reviews unless a business is absolutely a cut above everything in some absolute way. This is pretty much as good as it gets around NOVA.
