It always seems to be difficult finding a great mechanic shop. I’ve brought my truck in 2 – 3 times now and the experience has been great. This is a shop I feel I can trust, and I do recommend to other people. They always have business, and although their hours aren’t suitable for everyone it is worth it to take your vehicle here.

Found these guys driving home from work one day. Thought I would give it a go so I brought my car in for Alignment and I was immediately impressed by how attentive and knowledgeable the staff was. Just wanted to take the time to thank the entire staff at Tyerman’s for your unconditional professionalism and expertise! This is hands down the best ma & pa auto repair in town. Not only will I be back but I will be referring your company to family & friends as well. Thanks again guys!

Really bummed. I really used to like this shop. Seems now they are more interested in prized antique collector cars and their deep wallet owners, than the regular Joe Schmo. Been a customer for almost 15 years. Have always given them the benefit of the doubt when things seemed off to me. They have gouged me before, and rushed through their work on my car for the last time. I had been looking for another repair shop since the last time I was in, with my 2008 rabbit. ‘Sorry didn’t have time to change your oil? really? Bring it back and we’ll do it next time. Um, OK. The last straw was about 2 weeks ago. I reluctantly brought my 69 Mercury in hoping they could clean and repack my bearings on the front right wheel. (it was humming) Simple job, so I figured I give them another go. Apparently while packing them they noticed my brake calipers were falling a part. Hmmm, really? (Mind you, my brakes worked perfectly up until then). I told him that as well, but he convinced me I should replace them and the brake pads and rotors. Problem is, they can’t find rotors for the car. They say its impossible to find them. I found 1 on ebay. But figured I wait until I found 2 before having them installed. He shaved down the existing rotors, put new pads on, and gave me the car Friday. I drove it home and the brake pedal went straight to the floor. I brought it back the following Monday and he bled them out. (something he should have done the first time). I left, drove the car around the block, when all of a sudden the break pedal hit the floor again. Now its my master cylinder that blew and needs replacing. They replace the master cylinder. (found out from the cars previous owner that the master was replaced 2 years ago). I take it home and the brakes are screeching, grinding, and pinging loudly. I take it back, yet again, and he calls me up later and says the screeching is coming from the rear DRUM breaks and they need to be looked at. Mind you I have already paid more than $ 500.00 dollars for a front brake job I didn’t need. He said it would probably be another 200– 250. to look at unless he finds something else and it could be more. He reminds me my car is old and, old cars need repairing? HUH? That’s when I said ‘no thanks. I don’t want to give Tyremans another 500.00 of my hard earned money. I’ll give it to someone else who will do the job right and not rush through it half assed jeopardizing my safety and others. I just can’t understand it. I’m a good paying customer. I refer them to everyone I know. I figured that through all the incomplete brake work, time wasted, they would at least be conscience of the hassle they were putting me through. But, no effort. Just money in their eyes and closing time is 5pm sharp! If your loaded, have a lot to spend on your classic car. These guys are the best. But if you aren’t, and they are busy with the ones that are. Your best to look elsewhere. A good mechanic who does a brake job, should test and look at all 4 brakes and inspect the lines, master cylinder, and at least make sure they work properly before releasing the car. That said, after paying close to over $ 600.00. for front brakes, that had no issues, for brakes that are now subpar and probably going to cost me more to fix right. I would definitely look elsewhere for competent mechanics that value their long time customers and go the extra mile when things are obviously going wrong. Its a shame really. Refer friends and neighbors to Tyremans? Hell no, and never again.

I have been coming here for 10 years and it is by far the best service. They are always so thorough and accurate. I’m not always the best at keeping up with oil changes and tire pressure, but every time anything seems to be wrong with my car, this is the first place I go. They always know exactly whats wrong and fix my car to be in perfect running order. Also the prices are great. Great family atmosphere and everyone working there makes you feel very welcome. I would recommend this to anyone!!!

I went to Tyerman’s based soley on the reviews on Unilocal compared to other shops. I was working for a production company who had 2 vehicles that needed inspection and repairs for a cross country trip. Tyerman’s came through with flying colors, completed everything that was required and ahead of schedule. We were under the gun time wise and they really worked hard to get the work done in time. Since then I have taken my own personal vehicle there. You make an appointment, they are ready for you, call you throughout the day on the progress and/​or to get your permission on repairs. Debbie even came to my house to bring some paperwork for the production company when I could not get to their establishment. The people in the office and the shop very friendly and appreciate your business. Overall very happy with how they run the office and the shop. I’m looking forward to taking all of my vehicles there in the future. PS the vehicles that went cross country did not have any problems what-​so-​ever.

We moved to the SF Valley from the SG Valley almost 2 years ago. So we had to find a new mechanic. One of my clients recommended this place. She has been going there forever and really trusts them. My Rick had all 4 brakes done a couple weeks ago on his Honda for $ 400. I got new front brakes and rotors on my Toyota truck this week for $ 340. They even came and got me to pick it up. We’ll keep going back.

Nice place, nice guys, price can be a lot higher than some other places. They fixed my pickup truck that had some serious suspension problems.
Strange complaint but at times I felt like I was being treated like I was mechanically ignorant. I can turn a wrench now and again when I have to but yeah, it just seemed odd at the time. Maybe it was just me and that particular person who was helping me.
Oh and another thing, man, they kept asking me if I had the funds to pay the bill. Yes it was $ 800 but that’s not that much money, is it?

I have never written a review either but I decided to write this one to let people know THIS IS THE SHOP TO GO TO! The prices were dead on to what my late grandfather would have charged at his shop and they were honest about what was wrong (having 20 years of experience in automobiles I knew they were telling me the truth) Joel was very friendly and quick to help me when I walked in, my car was aligned, oil changed, and tires balanced in rotated in 2 – 3 hours! My car feels brand new and I love it. they even were able to fix my 1969 Dodge charger which is awesome since most shops now will not work on older vehicles! I would never go anywhere else Tyermans in THE ONLY auto-​repair shop to go if you want honest, down to earth people who genuinely care about you and your vehicle.

I have my tires serviced and vehicle alignment work done here. Its a good shop, nice workers that are skilled at what they do. I dont ask wonders from the people I trust with my cars; I come in for a specific issue and that’s all I trust them to work on. I do the majority of mechanical servicing myself. With that said, whatever I bring in gets done and done properly. I recommend this shop.

I called Tyerman’s this AM to let them know that I needed the suspension replaced in my 2001 Pathfinder. They said I should bring it in first to make sure that is all I needed. I said that worked for me and asked when they would have time to check out the vehicle, as I don’t have time to sit for an hour, I need the «check up» to be quick since I am at work. They said «No problem at all! If you bring it in, we’ll get right on it!» Sounded good to me! I headed to their location and noticed that every bay was full and 4 cars were waiting outside. I didn’t think much of it, gave my information, the manager asked one of the employee’s to check it out, everything seemed smooth.
Then after sitting outside waiting for a half hour with no progress, I went back into the manager to see what was going on. The manager appologized that the Snap On tool truck was out back and told me that the truck was like an ice cream truck to his guys. I laughed along and said «I do really need to get back to work, if you guys don’t have time, that’s okay.» He assured me that his guy would be right out. Another ten minutes passed and his guy came out with an invoice, trying to charge me $ 40 for looking at my truck. While I have no issue with a $ 40 charge, I do have a problem with no advanced notice whatsoever of this charge. I then stated, «you know what, I’m already not satisfied with the level of service your company is providing, I’m just going to go somewhere else.» Then the manager started yelling at me from inside the shop that he would «bend over backwards for me and look at it for free». I said I was no longer interested in being his customer as I DO NOT appreciate being yelled at by someone in a service position. He continue to yell random obscenities at me as I drove away. I will NEVER go back to a shop that is incapable of treating me like a customer. In my opinion, whether I am in the right or the wrong, getting in my face and yelling at me is COMPLETELY unacceptable. I took my truck elsewhere and had no issues with the repair or the customer service.

«A reputation takes a long time to earn, and a only a moment to lose.» It seems that this is one of those places that might be coasting on its reputation.
I heard the same good things from some of my contacts in Burbank, that these were the go-​to guys. Not in my case. They charged me almost $ 300 to replace a steering rag joint, which is _​at least_​$ 100 too much, but with so much positive press, I thought that I was wrong and they must be right.
Confused, yet not quite medically senile enough to qualify for government benefits, I showed the invoice to another trusted mechanic and a couple of parts countermen. They were all taken aback by the charges.
Tyerman’s also reset the alignment after the entire front end was rebuilt. Just six months later, a notice came in the mail saying the alignment must be checked and reset as normal maintenance. This is a trick used by AAMCO, Meinecke, Midas Mufflers, etc. called «bait and switch» in which you come on for a cheap brake job or a free inspection, and leave with a $ 500 bill for «tire valve stem cap lubrication.» Normally, alignment needs to be checked only when there is a customer complaint about steering, handling or braking, or if the mechanic notices something wrong.
Also, the waiting room is filthy – I watched with disappointment as the mechanics came into the waiting room at sat on the chairs in greasy overalls, using language that should probably be left in the service bay. I can take swearing and a grease stain or two like a man, but my wife? I’d get the dirty look, the blame, _​and_​have to shell out another $ 100 for a new blouse!!!
I am not just your garden-​variety crotchety old man (yet!): Two years ago, they reset the alignment on another car of mine, and did a fine job, at a reasonable (more expensive than Goodyear, Pep Boys, etc.) price. That has kept me from rating them at one star.
I’ve talked with Joel. He is a very polite, nice man but was not willing to work with me on the overcharge.

Came here to get an alignment for my truck. The experience from start to finish was great. Walked in and the guys were friendly and wanted my business. The shop is big and has that been around forever vibe. All in all, couldn’t have found a better place.

It’s difficult to be a female and feel like you are getting honest estimates and good service. At Tyerman’s, I felt like they were professional and honest with me about the condition of my Volvo. They didn’t give me the run around or try to «upsell» me. I was referred by a friend who lives in the area and I thought I’d drive up and give it a shot. I’m glad I did because it was well worth it.

Tyreman’s (as the sign says) is one of those rare finds in the automotive repair industry — honest, nice, and quality work.
These guys have fixed my old cars (50s/​60s) for many years and I’ve recommended them to many of my friends. In fact, some of my colleagues in the old car crowd have recommended them to me as well. That kind of word-​of-​mouth support doesn’t come unless a shop does quality work.
The folks at Tyreman’s give you an honest evaluation of your car and tell you what need to be done (in addition to what’s less critical). And they deliver flawless work at a reasonable price.
I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
