It truly must be said; this woman is magic!
I had a very eclectic wedding and from the start, we needed tailoring on multiple pieces; one bridesmaid dress (fell in love with it in a vintage store but it was a wee bit tight on my girl!) my groom’s trousers and frock coat (too big and a bit lopsided in the shoulders!) and my wedding dress, a medieval-​style custom velvet and tapestry gown which I decided in the weeks before the wedding needed new sleeves.
All of these alterations were extensive and required creative and critical thought. Alex reimagined my bridesmaid’s gown and rather than just expand it with a gusset or something of the like, she created a beautiful corset-​style back, which brought this modern dress right into line with our other more historical clothing. Watching her measure my groom in his coat and the care and thought that went into every single change she was going to do, was both impressive and soothing; I knew he would look perfect, and he did! She considers not just the garment, but the human that will live in it and the unique fit that they require. She is lovely, flexible, and an absolute pleasure to work with. She takes such pride in her work, and I was so relieved when I picked up my dress, which she had taken such beautiful care to get ready for me. I truly cannot recommend her highly enough, and I feel so fortunate to have found this great talent who is also a genuinely lovely person!

Alex is awesome! Brought two of my Grandma’s vintage dresses for tailoring and she absolutely nailed it! She is quick, efficient in her work (the dresses plus a suit she had done within a few days), and an overall sweet and kind person. Would highly recommend!

I bought a cute 1940s/​50s style dress for a Film Noir-​style performance. I was so afraid that altering it to fit me would change the «era» of the dress.
Enter Alex, to save the day! After Alex worked on it, the dress fits and is totally in the style of the era. And this wasn’t your basic tailoring job. She had to redesign the bust, and she nailed it! (I even like the style of it better now!)
Alex listened to and truly cared about what I wanted; she brought her own extensive experience to the table; and she delivered a finished product that I am delighted by. She’s pro. 100% pro.
AND! She gave me great washing tips and a swatch of the cloth to test wash (and find matching lipstick!).

After reading Alex’s glowing reviews I decided to entrust her with my Linen wedding suit. Unlike many tailors I’ve worked with in the past, Alex took quite a bit of time to look at how my suit fit and discuss the changes we should make. Then, over the course of a few days, she took a wonderful suit and made it simply amazing! She pulled the vest in, gave the jacket a bit of a taper and slimmed the jacket sleeves to give it that extra bespoke touch. I won’t lie, I looked fab in that suit and was the envy of my foppish friends. Sure, I wasn’t as pretty as my bride but that’s a task even a suit couldn’t accomplish.
Go see Alex. Seriously, her work is master craftsmanship at its best.
NEW INFO: 4 months later and Alex comes through with flying colors again. My Hugo Boss suit needed a bit of letting out in the waistline (yep, the holidays were a bit too celebratory…) and Alex altered the pants to make them fit perfectly. 24 hour turnaround too! She’s the best!

I was given Alex’s name and information from my favorite vintage shop. And what a God send!
Alex is a most genuine, delightfully quirky, and talented person with an incredible professionalism in her chosen craft.
Considering that I have a knack for eyeballing garments and reimagining them, yet I lack the patience and (quite frankly) the professional skill set to do the fragility or beaded intricacies of most of the chosen garments justice, I have been searching far and wide for a Tailor who I could clearly communicate my visions with. And The Traveling Tailor ended up being my fashion-​fix guru!
Having searched for so long, and being so attached to my frivolous investments, I decided to start slow to gage the potential for a significant fashion-​oriented relationship.
I initiated inquiries by having a pair of trousers hemmed, and a skirt fitted.
The Results: I could now wear my favorite pants of 6 years without stepping all over them, and could wear a beautiful business skirt without my waist swimming in it!
Then I moved on to a heavily beaded jacket that I kept in my closet for countless years, because I was to afraid to take it to just a anyone.
The Results: I can actually now wear it out in all of its fitted glory! And Alex paid the beaded pattern such perfectionists love that I knew at that moment we would be fast friends :))
Most recently I had a performance idea in mind for the Los Angeles Improv Comedy Festival that required a dazzling gown, I became a bit over excited with this notion and I literally cut apart a box-​o-​beaded gown thinking I had the time (and patience) to manage putting it back together myself… the next day I called Alex.
The Results: Alex put the beaded lady back together to my dreamy stage worthy specifics! And it knocked the audience out ;)
In addition to all of the above I currently have trousers being hemmed and repaired, as well as a few vintage dresses being tweaked and salvaged by Alex’s nimble, proficient, and hard working magical mind and hands.
Ooh! And I almost forgot to mention, my friend and costume designer Houri and I were in quite a pickle with this summer’s Independent Shakespeare Company’s production of «Romeo & Juliet»…and Alex the Traveling Tailor literally Saved the Day!

My experience with Alex has been phenomenal. Alex is truly tasteful and I was very happy to find her and trust her with my wedding gown. She knows how to make a dress look «Red Carpet» excellent! I’m so thankful I found Alex! I didn’t try on my bridesmaid dress until last minute and it was way too long. I called her and she got me in the next day and fix the alterations just in time for the wedding. She was so wonderful and very detailed with the dress. Finally someone I can trust with my clothes!
