History

Established in 1989.

Back in ’86 it all started when I purchased an AC powered tennis ball machine and went to use it at a local HS and when I wanted to plug it in there was no AC outlet to be found. So from that day I realized that there should be a better way to use my ball machine, thus I invented the first battery operated portable tennis ball machine. Today we are the #1 selling ball machines in the world-​wide with over 20 models to choose from.

I’ve been with Sports Tutor over 17 years as the Service Manager and now Head of International Sales. I’ve been playing tennis since I was 12 and raised in a tennis family. Before Sports Tutor I worked at Sport Chalet running the Tennis Department for 10 years and making our store #1 in sales through out the chain.

As someone in the tennis industry, I have had great experiences with Sports Tutor. So many ball machines are made overseas and parts or service is difficult or impossible — but not with these machines. In particular, the portable models really fill a need. James, Peter, and Ron always help me get a machine working, thanks!

After dealing with Sports Tutor, I truly value products made in the good olé USA. Bought my Tennis Tutor 7 yrs ago and it’s been sitting in my garage for the last 6.5yrs. Didn’t realize that not operating it would cause the battery to die.
Called Sports Tutor up and spoke with Jim who was extremely knowledgeable. He asked me several questions and determined that I would need a new battery and would be able to ship it to me the same day and have it delivered via Fed Ex by tomorrow. The price of the battery was $ 50 and after tax and shipping, it was only $ 67. Not bad at all.
I would recommend anyone who wants a tennis ball machine to buy one from this company. They have knowledgeable employees and they will still be around if your machine breaks down several years from now.

I received a «Hand-​Me-​Down» Tennis Tutor Model 2 Machine from my Dad. I rodent had got into it and damaged a bunch of the wires. After a couple of weeks of tinkering I had everything working except the elevation (would go down, but not up).
I called Tennis Tutor, talked with Ron. He agreed that it probably was the switch, and he said that he could get me one. I had my credit card in hand, expected to pay 30 – 50 dollars with shipping etc. Ron wouldn’t take my card. I re-​affirmed that my machine was definitely out of warranty. He said that Sports Tutor would handle it, shipping included. WOW!
With this type of customer service, and the way Sports Tutor backs up their product. If I ever need anything this company sells I will buy it, regardless of the price. The level of service that stands behind their product out weighs anything else. Thanks Sports Tutor.
