Great store! 3x the selection and ½ the price of our local Big 5 for ski stuff, and the staff was very nice. (I always appreciate when someone apologizes for the wait.)

Good sized sports store and its kept clean, not sure the selection is that great for the particular items I am looking for. I will say I do most of my shopping on-​line so maybe my expectations are not in-​line with what a physical location should have as far as selection. I went in today to looking for snowboard goggles and they only had about 8 variations. Not enough selection for my preferences but I suppose if I were in a bind I could make it work. I have bought other items here before but normally because I have procrastinated ordering online. #burbank #sports

I USED to shop quite regularly at Sports Chalet. Not because they are better, but only because they are slightly closer than the location of the Sports Authority in my area.
I went there recently to EXCHANGE a pair of shoes (New in the box) that they carry and pay MORE for another pair I wanted. Sports Chalet would not exchange the shoes for me, even though they know as a regular customer and I have spent thousands of dollars in their store over the years from shoes to ping pong tables. They blamed NEW OWNERS & NEW POLICIES THAT ARE A DETERRENT FOR THE CUSTOMER!
On a whim, I called Sports Authority. I asked to speak with the manager, who on this day happen to be, a very nice and cordial, Matt Wheatcroft as I was driving on the highway. I explained my predicament and Matt asked me for the UPC code on the box. I told him I was driving and they were in the rear. He asked me for the name of the shoe. I told him. He said, «Sir, we carry the shoe. Come on in and I’ll try and take care of you.»
Now Matt is much younger than me, but like me, he understands what the term «Customer Service» really means. I went in and purchased not one, but two pairs of shoes that I wanted, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, I will STOP TO SHOP SPORTS CHALET! If they to believe in Customer Service anymore, then I don’t believe in giving them my money!
Matt Wheatcroft is to be commended for his service and his genuine concern for attracting and recruiting new customers. From this point forward, I will now always refer and recommend my friends to SPORTS AUTHORITY, because it appears Sports Chalet’s only Customer Service entails GETTING the customer’s money and that’s it!

I had to take another minute and write in again. I am simply overwhelmed and humbled by the graciousness and attitude of your employee/​manager Matt Wheatcroft, in the Burbank/​Empire Shopping Mall Store. It appears the order I placed with Matt for 2 new pairs of court shoes has been delayed and with the Labor Day Holiday, they could be delayed even longer, stuck in processing, somewhere in Sylmar, CA.
Matt not only tried his best with numerous attempts at phone calls and emails to expedite this matter on my behalf, (because I have no court shoes to play my favorite sports – racquetball and pickle ball) but he has gone out of his way to offer me additional help to cover me until my shoes arrive. His dedication and responsibility/​obligation to the customer is above average and I just thought you ALL should take note. I can also tell you, that his role in the store has visibly been passed down to the other employees there. I’ve been to this store now 3 times and everyone has a nice, friendly disposition and very attentive to the customer’s needs.
I’m sure Corporate for the most part, looks at numbers at the end of each month, making sure their stores meet their monthly status figures – BUT, I can tell you personally, that you can’t measure the depth and length that this gentleman has gone to accommodate me for this unfortunate glitch in the ordering process. It has truly been a pleasure shopping here at Sports Authority!

7:30 in the evening. About 12 people waiting in line. One cashier. Three or four staff walking around. Seriously. On sticking around for my return/​exchange. And the poor single cashier is still taking calls. Come on.

Great location and store size. They have everything man can think of. Also, they have always something on sale which make it more interesting.
Very happy with my purchases.

Went to Burbank to visit my grandma and came across sports authority. Went inside bought a shirt and visited my grandma. When I got home later that night I took my shirt out of the bag and saw that they left the security tag on it!!! I was so pissed! I live 45 minutes away from there and that’s the closest location. Called manager and she told me to bring it in and they will take it off. Like it was no big deal sure I’ll just drive 45 min one way so they can take it off. This could have all been avoided if they had just done their job! MAKE SURE U CHECK YOUR CLOTHES BEFORE U LEAVE THE STORE

Love there store. Theirs always something on sale there. I usually find sporty clothes and gym shoes there. The sales associate there are very nice and friendly. Been going there for over 15 years.

How do you review a Sports Authority? I mean, yeah, they had everything I needed plus a smoking deal on a new
Pair of Nikes for me. Convenient parking. Good prices– and. The coupon for checking in is the real reason why I’m writing this. I have a whole litter of kids who always need this or that and SA always has what I need.
I would like more sports logo wear– not everyone likes the Dodgers!

Pros: Has all the sportsing stuff you could ever need
Cons: I suck at sports. Oh, and the parking lot sucks.
TL;DR: This Sports Authority is in the Burbank Town Center, which is somewhere between the 3^rd and 4^th levels of Hell. If you go on a weekend, brace yourself for insane traffic. It’s absolutely nuts. Whenever I have to go, I try going on a weekday. But then again, who as the luxury of going on a weekday? Retired people and unemployed people, I guess. And maybe students. The rest of us with jobs have to suffer. Ain’t that a bitch?

So I walked in and thought «wow, nice big store».
Now I’m looking for something specific and spent 13 minutes looking for an employee to help me… after finally finding someone I ask if they have any Los Angeles kings apparel or anything…“no”. Wow seriously. What sports store doesn’t carry kings items. That’s already a thumbs down for me.
Again, the low rating isn’t because they didn’t carry kings stuff but for lack of employees and how long it took to find someone to help me. They should consider hiring more people. And bring kings stuff wouldn’t hurt. I’m sure it’ll help them…

Wonderful service! My husband was interested in buying a Wilson Evolution Basketball for $ 69 and found it cheaper on amazon prime for $ 49. Salesman Joshua gave us the pricematch with no problem. The cashier lady who could have been the manager was just as sweet, name Lea. I checked in on Unilocal and also had a $ 10 off a $ 50 purchase. She honored the coupon as well. I was very impress how they were with their customer service and really making the customer happy. Thank you to these two.

Sports Authority happens to be the closest sporting good store in my neighborhood. I do prefer Sport Chalet slightly better. There does not seem like there are many staff members, but when you need assistance, they are helpful.
There are times when there’s only 1 employee doing returns/​sales at the same time, which is quite annoying. Just have to be patience, I guess.

When you go to blow up your expensive and necessary air mattress and lo and behold, theres a gaping hole… yeah, so I needed a patch and fast!
I almost gave up on these guys because of the loooooooong time I spent on hold. In fact, I went somewhere else first, but encountered a «be back soon» sign (mom & pop place.) It was for this reason only that they got my business.
During my time on hold, I was told 5 different times they’d check and see if they have it. Each time except maybe once it was a brand new person telling me the exact same thing and then never returning. Were there four to five people searching the store and/​or a computer looking for the exact same thing??? Was this a really, really big place? Well, no and, yes. I did finally get someone looking and an answer after nearly 15 min.
I actually spoke to two different stores on another phone in the time it took for them to get back with an answer. Which was yes. Yes, they did have the patch. Hallelujah!
When I got in the store I couldnt help but notice how absolutely huge and absolutely empty it was considering my tremendously long hold time. There were 2 customers checking out with one item each. So, hardly overrun.
All that being said, the store is absolutely impressive. They have an array of camping gear, tents, kayaks, thermals, high tech workout gear, repair kits, and on and on and on. I realized I had shopped here in the past for some camping equipment and also picked up a sweet pair of sunglasses that I kept for a good 2 years or so.
Once in the store, the customer service was pretty good. The girl at the front called to the guy in the back on her headset and he was very friendly and helpful and assuring. Im happy with my purchase and this store.

It’s a sad day when I’d rather get in my car and face all the construction traffic on the 5 freeway to get to Sports Authority when Sport Chalet’s headquarters is in my town.
I just like their inventory a lot more than Sport Chalet. They have a great selection of tennis shoes, hiking clothes, workout clothes, golf clothes and the list goes on and on. They have coupons in the local newspaper which helps too.
Another benefit of shopping at this particular Sports Authority is the multitude of other stores and restaurants. It’s near Target, Nordstrom Rack, Lowes, Best Buy, Home Town Buffet (I don’t go there anymore because it gives me a reason to eat too much), Daphne’s (I love this chain for a healthy lunch), Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse and a few others. There’s even a Game Stop for the video game addicts.
If you are looking for sporting goods this is a really good place to go.

Me: I tear through my Nike Pegasus trail shoes too quickly. Maybe I should buy ACTUAL hiking shoes.
Everyone: You should try them on in a store, and then buy them on the internet.

I drive to Sports Authority… they don’t have the new 30 series Nike Pegasus shoes (??) but they do have some North Face hiking shoes, along with some brand that I’ve never heard of, and some Merrills.
I try on the Merrills– way too much padding.
I move on to the sale section, mentally preparing myself for the clusterf&ck I’m about to endure, trying to channel the feelings I felt that one time when I found a pair of Pegasus 29 trail shoes here for $ 49. I think of the bald tread on my current pair of 29s. I walk into the sale section…
It’s a total clusterf&ck.
The womens 7.5 section starts immediately to the left of the boys sale shoes, and I don’t see anything smaller than an 8 in that part of the aisle. Clearly they straighten at night, but they don’t size!
I worked retail for eight years. Size that. There’s no excuse, other than being understaffed, in which case, HIRE.
I see a size of North Face hiking shoes in an 8.5 with a bunch of size 10s. I try them on… too small. I grab another pair, with no tags… size 9. Killer, killer tread. Like, three times the amount of tread on those sad Pegasus 29s that I buy every six months.
I put them on and they feel goooooooooood.
Price tag? $ 69.
I look them up on Amazon and spend a few minutes clicking on a bench. Other than the «hello» at the door, not a single Sports Authority associate has seen or spoken to me. Now I know why their sale section looks so sh! tty.
Amazon says these are Hedgehogsand prices them at $ 135, since they’re past season and now hard to find. Score!
I take them to the register, noticing alllllllll the flavors of ShotBloks they sell. I remember the giant box of ShotBloks my friend bought me.
They ring up at $ 39!!!
Moral of the story: skip the full price, and head straight for the sale stuff. Be patient. Don’t expect anyone to help you. It’s not going to be easy, but it could be worth it.

What a big store! Located on Empire, next to Lowes in Burbank, this store is pretty hard to miss.
I came to Sports Authority to get a new racquet, racquet balls and a new bag for my game. The selection is aplenty from Wilson, Head, Penn, Prince & Ektelon. I settled for an Ektelon E-​force 170G which is quite light weight and good for your regular everyday play. Me-​Likes a lot! Clothing and sports apparel of different brands, color and style are also plentiful, after a few minutes of browsing around the racks, I also grabbed quite a few for running and for my racquet ball game.
The store has almost every sports tools and gadgets you could imagine, from Kayaks to Bikes to racquets, basketballs, soccer ball, baseball and volleyball as well as camping gear, fishing gears and clothing accessories for any sport you could imagine.
Sports Authority’s staff are really helpful ready to answer any question you may have! What made my visit much memorable is the fact that my checkout staff made sure that I get the promotional discount they are running online that day, which gave me a pretty good dent to an otherwise really pricey purchase… I would go back for that kind of service alone!
Overall, I highly recommend this store for all your sporting needs, plenty of selection and a very helpful set of staff, what else could you ask for?

This is a huge space, very clean and new-​ish looking. Everything is very orderly and items are located in named sections. Staff is friendly enough. However, we were looking for some climbing gear and guess what? None. No clips, harnesses, belts — nothing. I was really surprised that they didn’t even have a limited selection. Had to go all the way to REI, which is not at all convenient. However, was able to get my adventure pass for hiking here.

I drove all the way over here to shop for exercise bikes, only to discover that this cowardly corporation is so fearful of lawsuits that they don’t allow customers to try them before they buy them.
I can go down to a firing range and rent a loaded gun if I sign a release. I can jump out of an airplane if I sign a release. I can test drive a Lamborghini on the freeway if I sign the right paper. So why Sports Authority get it together? Cowards…

I always buy my running shoes from here and the staff is very helpful. I am a long distance runner so I go through shoes in a matter of 5 months. The staff always helps me figure out which shoe is best for my form and foot to prevent injury. I pronate (when you foot arch flattens as you walk/​run) so I always stick with the Asics kayano models. They helped me pick these out everytime and they are always right! Very knowledgable on all the shoes they carry
Minus one star because when theres more than 3 or 4 people in the running shoe isle, the workers tend to give you less attention which could lead to giving you the wrong shoe
But overall, kind and easily accessible

The hardest part is getting here. So many cars, the traffic, dangerous parking lot. And of course, the fitting rooms. You need to find staff to open the fitting rooms, and some visits, that’s easier than others. If it’s difficult to get in the parking lot and difficult to try things on, well… I can’t shop there often.
And that’s too bad. There’s always a lot on sale. The rewards program is a nice treat, given out quarterly and can be used on anything since it is like cash. The occasional 20% off a single item is also sweet.
