Ryu Acupuncture Clinic is an absolute gem! I saw Dr. Ryu for four months and in that short amount of time my life changed a great deal. I walked in hoping for treatment, but I gained so much more. I’ve gained a better understanding of Eastern Medicine and the benefits of integrating both Eastern and Western Medicine for complete wellness. No band-​aid treatment here. He helped me get to the root of my problem. Lots of life lessons learned from Dr. Ryu. He is not your average acupuncturist that is short and brief and simply provides treatment. He is genuine and truly cares about his patients. He educates you and helps you become a better person. All of the staff here are amazing. They go above and beyond in order to help you on your journey towards getting better. Rennie, Marlee, and Jennifer are so wonderful to work with!
I came in with severe and chronic back and thigh pain, chronic stress and digestion problems, and also had severe menstrual irregularities due to an enlarged uterine fibroid. On my first day there, I was hoping for a miracle. I had hit rock bottom. I had an almost 3 week long period and was very anemic. The day after treatment my period finally stopped. And then the best part happened. My periods changed immediately after receiving Dr. Ryu’s acupuncture treatments and herbal medicine. Before seeing Dr. Ryu, I had crazy heavy periods with severe cramping/​pain that lasted 7 – 14 days. Immediately after treatment, my periods decreased down to 4 – 6 days with little to no additional symptoms. That’s better than I’ve ever had in my lifetime!
My system definitely got better. The key is to have faith and trust in what he’s doing/​recommending and to be patient and consistent with treatment. Unfortunately, I had to take a break from Dr. Ryu’s treatment due to personal family issues. I sure do hope to come back soon.

Love Dr Ryu!!! After having chronic shoulder & neck pain due to my computer job, visiting chiropractors, massage therapists, etc. Dr Ryu has been able to alleviate almost all my pain! Each time I see him, I go longer and longer without pain. He is nice & listens well to what you need. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

I sought out Dr Ryu as I have low platelets otherwise known as ITP. Western medicine (Kaiser) wanted me to get on steroids. I wanted to try a more holistic approach.
He was instrumental in getting my system operating better which helped (and brought my platelets up).
I see him weekly for acupuncture and also take his Chinese Herbs. He said both were required to do the trick.
On a personal note he is a joy to talk to. Always listens and has great input about LIFE. He knows each of his clients personally and treats everyone specifically for their issues. I am always happier when I leave the office as the treatments WORK.

I have lost a lot of weight due medical problems (~18% of my body weight & I wasn’t big to begin with) & stress… nausea, migraines, constipation, food/​water not staying down, hemorrhoids, vomiting, bloating, acidic yellow/​green bile, burping, and so forth.
Doctors keep telling me I’m fine, but I know I’m not… :T
Dr. Ryu was kind, caring, gentle, listened well, took his time to see if I had any further questions or concerns and informed me that my conditions had to do with my liver not functioning properly and that drinking a few cups of ginger honey tea a day and avoiding spicy & greasy foods should help for the time being.
Rennie, the receptionist, was also pleasant, helpful, and informative.
Unfortunately my insurance doesn’t cover acupuncture and I cannot afford to visit him and receive treatment. Hopefully one day we’ll save enough so I can get treated!

I have been a patient of Dr. Ryu’s for several years now, and he is the person I go to for pretty much every malady that reveals itself in my body! :) He has helped my body to resolve trigger fingers, back issues, headaches, digestive issues, repetitive stress injury from my work, and even concussion recovery. Plus, a real added bonus for me is the feeling of relaxation and sense of renewal that usually accompanies my sessions. :) I place a high level of trust in Dr. Ryu and his work. His staff does a great job as well – very kind, helpful and professional. Highly recommend.

My wife and I had been trying for a baby for over 4 years when we first sat in Dr. Ryu’s office. By this time we had done 2 IUI’s, been to multiple acupuncturists, Chinese herbalists, and I even had some reflexology. But as I sat across from Dr. Ryu during the consultation I knew he had a wealth of knowledge and could be the doctor to help us. I’m happy to say a miracle has happened and we are 30 weeks pregnant!
For 5 months we saw Dr. Ryu every Saturday morning. We took his homemade Chinese herbal medicine religiously. We both had the belief we would be parents. Dr. Ryu joked he was making me superman, which you did, and how he needed to make my wife’s system stronger, which he did.
We can’t thank him enough!
He also treated our other ailments such as my plantar fasciitis and my sprained shoulder.
Dr. Ryu has been blessed as a healer and I write this letter to let others know Dr. Ryu is truly the real deal!

Dr. Ryu was great, tremendously helpful. Originally came in with a sports injury, got relief right away. Within a very short time the treatments healed my injury and got me back working out.
Then came in with a very bad cold and congestion, wouldn’t get better. Treatments got me better right away and eliminated the lingering effects.
Can’t recommend highly enough!!!

A few weeks ago I had my consultation and first acupuncture treatment with Dr. Ryu and it far exceeded my expectations. Aside from my own preliminary research on acupuncture in general, I had no clue what to expect. As a disclaimer, I’ve never received any acupuncture treatment, so I am unable to draw any comparisons.
I had contacted some other acupuncture facilities and they were either drastically more expensive or had limited availability. As a practical matter, (and after reading the great Unilocal reviews) I contacted Dr. Ryu.
Your first appointment is both a consultation and a treatment. Dr. Ryu and I had a lengthy conversation about acupuncture (I had a lot of questions) and he also took his time to ask me why I felt I needed treatment and really educate me on the process.
Once he learned why I was there he placed the needles along certain pressure points and I was left to rest with the needles in place for about 15 mins (total time with needles was about 30 mins).
It’s worth noting, I appreciated that Dr. Ryu didn’t run a sales pitch and try to sell me unnecessary treatments and herbal medicines (although he has a wide selection if you’re interested).
The theory behind acupuncture is far from that of Western Medicine. So if you’re a skeptic, don’t waste your time or money. But I do recommend giving it a try, acupuncture can be used for a variety of ailments. I will be returning.

Many thanks to Dr. Ryu for stopping my persistent hiccups in the very first session itself. I have been suffering from persistent hiccups for 10 days continuously and that was very big relief. I was desperately looking for some remedy that could relieve me from the discomfort. Thats the time my wife suggested to go for acupuncture treatment. With the help of Unilocal reviews, we identified and met Dr.Ryu. I told him about my past history of acid reflux, digestive issues and currently with the persistent hiccups. Dr. Ryu made me understand that my digestive process isnt going well due to lack of good sleep and work stress. He suggested me for a better life style and stopped the persistent hiccups with just an hour of treatment. Later with couple of more treatment, i am feeling better, more energetic along that i am trying to bring a good lifestyle in my routine as per his suggestion. I am very Glad that i met Dr. Ryu on the right time to get relieved from the digestion disorders.
Regarding the Insurance coverage, well since i had a platinum insurance plan with United Health care insurance it help me to get a complete coverage with 0 $ co pay.

3 words: Worked for me!
I went to Ryu Acupuncture on May 2 for an induction acupuncture. I was 39 weeks 5 days pregnant and was trying little things here and there to naturally jump start my labor. I had my first session at 9 am that morning and Dr. Ryu scheduled me to come back on Monday and have consecutive sessions after that, until I finally go into labor. At approximately 11:30 am while having brunch at restaurant, my mucous plug was released and my water broke! My husband immediately brought me to the hospital and I went into active labor within the next 3 hours after that. Not only was the treatment effective for me, Dr. Ryu was great and was honest when it came to explaining and answering questions. Will definitely be referring my mom to him to see if he can help with her health conditions.

I’ve been coming to doctor ryu for 12 sessions now and he is the best. I’ve been to so many doctors in my area and none of them new what was wrong with me. Dr Ryu is the only one that pin pointed exactly what was wrong with me.

Dr. Ryu is the best! I started seeing him for infertility after all efforts over 2 years had not worked. I’m proud to say after a few visits with Dr. Ryu we were successful at getting pregnant! Beyond that, he treated all my pregnancy aches and pains. And now I’m seeing him again for ringing in my ears.
If you were ever considering acupuncture, definitely check out Dr. Ryu. His office is easy to get to and wonderful to deal with. Can’t recommend it enough!!!

I decided to try this clinic based on the reviews here from Unilocal.
I’ve been to many acupuncturists… not such a good experience for me there.
Too much to explain.
But I will say this… I had to go to a masseuse to correct what was done.
Must see for yourself though to form your own opinion.
I would not recommend.

Dr. Ryu is a master. Don’t let his cool demeanor and weirdly frank conversation throw you. He knows what he’s doing. I’ve come here for a number of problems, including a bad lower back, and he’s been able to help with most of them, including some really out-​there ones (like an inflamed inner ear causing hearing problems).
I don’t know how acupuncture works, I don’t know why it works, but it works. And Dr. Ryu is pretty damn excellent at it.

I went to see Dr. Ryu last year and he most certainly helped me get some much needed energy back. He is very approachable, kind and very knowledgable. His approach is unlike any other acupuncture clinic I’ve been too before, but I think his way is much better. I would give him six stars if I could!

SCIATICA… a pain in the back and the posterior and more! After I had endured the doctors and physical therapists, taken every pill prescribed… I finally requested acupuncture. I was given a list of providers. No background, very little information on that list… so I went to Unilocal.I searched one by one until I got to Dr. Ryu! Wow! At that time he had about 35 FIVE STARS… and no disgruntled patients. So I threw my hat in the ring. EXCELLENT CHOICE! Looks like I’ll be number 46 of 5 star fans.
As it was a chronic condition it took several visits and then came the miracle… sciatica gone and IT HASN’T COME BACK!!! That was several months ago.
His dry wit kept me smiling.

Dr. Ryu is truly talented and has helped me with lower back pain problems which I had for several years. After trying one year of physical therapy, yoga, steroid injections and anti-​inflammatory medications, I gave acupuncture a shot in a last ditch effort to get some pain relief.
Dr. Ryu has managed to keep me almost pain free from week to week and I don’t take the four daily Aleves anymore. This is only after a few weeks.
For anyone having tried it all, please give Dr. Ryu a chance to helping you.

My husband has had anxiety attacks for years now due to a traumatic incident in his past. His attacks occur at any point and time — on the freeway, movie theater etc. Its very scary to witness I can’t imagine what he goes through. In any case he was resigned to taking some very strong meds to numb the feeling as soon as he feels he is going to experience an anxiety attack. So deciding to remove as much drugs from his system, I found Dr. Ryu (pronounced Dr. U) and the rest shall we say is history.
Dr Ryu has a very blunt sense of humor and is a straight shooter which both of us like. He made sure I understood what my husband was going through and how real the attack is for him. Witnessing an anxiety attack is a completely different experience from going through one. It was hard for me to understand why we needed to go to Urgent care or the ER when he had a bad one. He is only 30 so even though he thinks he is having a heart attack, realistically you know he is not — no heart disease, young and in shape etc.
He has seen Dr. Ryu for three months now and hasn’t had an anxiety attack since the accupuncture treatments started. Also Dr. Ryu has been treating him for snoring issues and that has calmed down as well to the point of where I don’t have to move to the couch in the middle of the night!
I highly recommend Dr. Ryu as a holistic approach for whatever you may be experiencing. He is extremely knowledgeable and a funny guy :)
You’ll love Rennie as other Unilocalers have mentioned she is very sweet and very good with handling paperwork if you are using insurance. If you don’t have insurance Dr. Ryu has various payment plans so his office is willing to work with you.

My husband threw out his back the day before my due date with our first baby. His sciatica flared up with the stress of work and my pregnant hormones. Luckily, through the referral of his coworkers he found Dr. Ryu who immediately said he could come in the same day – a Saturday afternoon! The last time my husband had this issue, it took 3 months of chiropractic treatments. With a baby on the way, we didn’t have three months for his back to heal. We were desperate and he wasn’t in-​network so it was extremely expensive for new parents-​to-​be. We trusted that Dr. Ryu would be able to help and provide an intensive week-​long treatment.
All the while, there I was a week overdue waiting for husband to heal and the baby to arrive. My OB threatened to induce labor with pitocin – totally against my wishes for a natural, drug-​free birth since I had GD and he wouldn’t let me go past 41 weeks. I went with my husband on a visit and we chatted briefly about how I was overdue. Dr. Ryu mentioned his success with inducing labor so it was worth a try instead of drug induction or mandatory c-​section. I went in for 4 consecutive sessions and went into labor during the Sunday his office was closed. Was able to labor at home for two days and arrived at the hospital at 7 cm in active labor!
We really owe Dr. Ryu a huge thanks for helping with healing my husband’s back, inducing my labor, and allowing me to have manageable labor pains. We’re blessed with a happy, alert little baby boy. My husband was able to lift his little guy and helped me postpartum as his back healed quickly.
