I have a sliding patella and have been worried about getting surgery or having to get it, spend tons of money and have a painful procedure. My knee has been swelling and painful the last month so I finally found these guys.
I was so happy that they got me in within a few days of making an appointment and they were awesome with the efficiency of the place. Dr. Shahan Yacoubian was awesome. He listened to my history and wasn’t jumping the gun to surgery immediately. I did X-​rays and everything was out in less than an hour with a brace and some PT exercises to do at home. I’m so grateful that I found them.

This is a review on their scheduling skills. I’m siting here in the waiting room typing this.
I called at 8:05 A.M. this morning and asked to make an appointment for my wife. Over the phone they took her info and insurance info before even checking their schedule.
They said, «OK she can come in next Monday.»
I asked if they could get her in this morning instead. She said, «Ok she can come in at 10 am.» I asked if they have anything earlier as we have other appointments to be at. The lady said «Ok I can get you in at 9:30 but please make sure you’re here at 9:15 to fill out paperwork.»
Sounds basic, so here we are now, still sitting in the waiting room since 9:15 and it’s 10:23 as I’m typing this.
Why on earth would you tell a customer to come at 9:15 and make them sit over an hour. Why not just tell them to come at 11:00 or whenever you actually have an appointment opening.
A standard response from the office was «We have lots of patients.» Well, DUH! We get that! So make your scheduling better! Or hire someone that actually understands schedules and calendars.
So annoying.

Follow up to last review. After leaving at least 4 messages for the office manager for this practice, I never heard back from her. When I was finally able to be connected to the office manager, she answered the phone with immediate attitude. «What do you want?» «You’ve called me a lot.» When I asked her to first help me understand why she hadn’t called me back even though the outgoing message on her voicemail says she will return calls within 24 hours (this was 3 days later), she said, «I don’t have time for this» and hung up on me.
It didn’t end there. She called me back a few minutes later and it went to my voicemail. She proceeded to scold me on the voicemail message. I called the office back later that day asking to have the Dr. Yacoubian call me. Needless to say, it is now 2 weeks later and I have yet to hear back from him.
I’ve moved on to a new surgeon who has already spent 300% more time with me in just one visit compared to the 2 or 3 I had with Dr. Yacoubian. BTW, Dr. Yacoubian never even examined my MRI films even though I brought them with me for my visits. The new doctor spent a great deal of time examining the films during my visit so he could explain the damage to my shoulder.
It is a shame that people like the office manager have a job in the healthcare profession when it is clear that they either don’t like their job or treat patients with disdain.

I went to Dr. Shahan Yacoubian for a knee replacement. I had so much damage he didn’t know how I was able to walk. I had fallen a few times. I had a surgery for a ruptured patella about 25 years ago. Then in 2006 I had a surgery for a meniscus tear in 2006. I had no cartilage left in my knee, bone on bone and my kneecap wasn’t where it was supposed to be. My leg turned in and I couldn’t walk without a cane. I was in so much pain and was on pain medication. I have lupus so I can get staph infections easily. My second surgery I got a really bad infection and was on IV antibiotics for weeks. I went to two other doctors and they refused to do the surgery because it was too risky. I had no hope. Well finally my prayers were answered when I was sent to Dr. Shahan Yacoubian. My surgery was in March and I am fully recovered after physical therapy at Vargo. He straightened out my leg and I am walking without a cane. My knee feels great and I am off the pain medication. I feel I can now live my life fully now because before there was so much I could not do without a lot of pain. I want to thank Dr. Yacoubian for giving me my life back. I am so very grateful.

Finally some real treatment for my left shoulder related to a sports injury. Obtained a diagnosis and received treatment right then and there from P.A. Omar, with follow up for PT. Strongly recommend Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists in Burbank — no nonsense and right to the diagnosis and treatment. Was in and out in about 45 minutes.

I was referred to Dr. Yacoubian by my primary care physician. He was able to help figure out what was wrong with my arm, referred me to a neurologist for nerve damage testing, which no one else had ever thought to do. Thanks for the great care!

They have a modern office with friendly staff, short wait times, and Dr. Yacoubian was great at diagnosing my problem and performed surgery on my shoulder with no complications. He has been instrumental in my rehabilitation, even recommending an excellent physical therapist.

Dr. Stephan Yacoubian, is amazing! He did my shoulder surgery last Thursday, torn rotator cuff repair, torn labrum repair, bone spur removal. Not much pain, only Tuesday of following week. He’s the best!

Patient care is horrible there. They are over booked everyday so you feel like cattle there. You don’t get the time from the staff to answer questions and make you feel ok about your situation. You actually walk out of there feeling worse about your situation. Dr. Yacoubian and his office I don’t recommend! Just my honest opinion.

I had a patella (Knee cap) fracture and was immediately seen when I called to schedule.
They put me with the PA– Omar, whom has worked with me very closely since. Omar is a really nice guy and has always been very detailed and professional. He has answered all my questions in a timely manor, as well as always being really great with in office visits. He makes me feel comfortable and safe in a really not fun situation.
I have never had to wait long for my appointment, and the whole staff is super friendly.
Andrew the nurse always makes my visit, as well as Missy in the office.
Dr. Stephan Yaucobian did my surgery, and tho I only met him right before the surgery, he must have done a good job, as I am healing nicely.
All and all I would recommend this place to anyone.

The doctor at Lakeside Urgent Care across the street gave me three local orthopedics to call after my sons x-​rays came back with a broken wrist in two areas. They weren’t able to cast it at the Urgent Care so I was very pleased that when I called here they were able to have us walk right over to have him seen so late in the afternoon.
They verified my PPO coverage/​benefits nearly immediately and when I questioned paying anything upfront and out of pocket they called back to obtain my HRA balance info and very soon after had my son in the cast room.
The service provided was excellent and return visits were explained to us. I’m very grateful for the prompt, friendly and thorough attention to my sons needs this afternoon.
Parking is $ 1 every 20 minutes, luckily I had originally found street parking and only had the car moved into the lot for about 40 minutes. The parking lot is cash only –good thing my son had some dollars on him ;)

I went in for some sudden and bad knee pain. I called and they were able to take me on the same day, and they asked if I minded seeing a PA and not a doctor on short notice. The PA was Omar, and although somebody else had a bad experience with him on Unilocal,I thought he was fine. He listened to me whine, got an X-​Ray, explained what was there, mostly not there, thankfully. He gave me a cortisone shot and a brace, a prescription and instructions on healing and then how to avoid a recurrence. (get my ass back to the gym!). So far so good!

If you come here, please make sure you book an appt with a DOCTOR, not a PA (physicians assistant). I was seen by Dr Ravens PA Omar and had a terrible experience. Lazy and gave incorrect information. Went to see another doctor afterwards who actually treated me (as opposed to sending me home with nothing done). Will never go back here again.

I had my Quad tendons reattached to my kneecap in February by Dr Shahan Yacoubian after a freak accident. He spent time with me outlining the surgery itself and the healing process and then discussed the Physical Therapy that would follow. His staff was friendly and helpful and the procedure went exactly as predicted. My followup visits were informative and they are truly interested in my recovery progress. When and if I need a hip replacement I will return — hopefully not for a few years! A great crew –

Speaking for myself (having seen Dr. Stephan Yaucobian) and a friend (who saw one of the other doctors) — this place is the worst.
I came in with some minor but chronic knee pain. They took xrays on spot, but wouldn’t let me see the xrays nor would they let me have them so there was no way of verifying what they said. Dr. Yaucobian found out I’d had a previous knee surgery, and when he found out the surgeon wasn’t from OSS, immediately scoffed and told me the reason why I was having knee pain was because the surgery was most likely botched by someone who wasn’t an expert, told me I’d probably need another surgery, ordered an Arthrogram of my knee (which is an invasive MRI) and then left without so much as a goodbye.
Got a second opinion from Dr. Stetson (of Stetson Powell Orthopedics) and I’m glad I did. He told me that I could just get a regular MRI (non invasive), and ended up prescribing physical therapy for me instead of surgery. Completely noninvasive, completely nonsurgical, and now I’m fine.
The people at this place treat orthopedics like an assembly line. Patient comes in, cut them open, collect cash, send them out. If you mess up and they have to come back– even better! More cash collecting! Don’t bother coming here, just take a hammer to whatever hurts and flush some hundreds down the toilet. It’ll end up being about the same.

I had a torn meniscus repair done by Dr. Yacoubian at the Alameda Surgery Center last month. Everything from the prep to the post recovery care was awesome. Dr. Yacoubian’s office staff was very helpful with coordinating my medical insurance and the extra small costs. Dr Y was kind and very professional. I highly recommend him and his office if you have any orthopedic needs. I have completely recovered and my knee has regained full function.
