Specialties

We are an animal rescue that focuses on urgent need dogs and cats from Los Angeles high kill shelters. We are 100% volunteer run so all donations received go directly towards paying for the food, supplies and veterinary bills for all of the animals that we rescue.

Our #1 priority is to match animals with families that have similar lifestyles and needs. If you are interested in adopting one of the animals currently in our care, please fill out an online application located at www​.lab​sand​friends​.org/​adopt. If the criteria for an animal you are looking for fits with that of the personality traits of an animal we have in our group then we will do a home check and we set an adoption appointment for you and everyone in your family with (dogs included).

All animals come spayed/​neutered, microchipped and are up to date on all shots (Puppies and Kittens may require additional shots depending on their age at the time of adoption.)

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Labs and Friends. My husband and I had been wanting to get a dog for over a year. We knew we wanted a poodle mix since we wanted a dog with hair that doesn’t shed much. On the weekend before my hubs birthday we went to a local shelter and had a look around. There weren’t many helpful people there even though there were some poodles we were interested in. We left and went to a nearby rescue that had animals from Labs and Friends. We got to spend time with a poodle mix and within minutes he was in our laps snuggling himself to sleep, so we knew we found our match! We’ve had to check back in with Labs and Friends about our dog since the adoption and Julie has been super helpful and supportive in getting our new furry son properly accommodated to our home. She has provided us with great insight about what our dog needs based on her time with him, and as a result we have all settled in nicely together. I couldn’t be more happy with this adoption agency!

This is in response to Mike who has accused Labs and Friends of racially profiling. I think that you have somehow misconstrued someone who is extremely busy trying to find homes for dozens of animals to being a racist. This is ridiculous. These people dedicate their lives to finding the right home for these animals. Your gut reaction to the Lab being too «rambunctious to fit your lifestyle» obviously was the right call. Ania just reiterated it for you. Labs are NOT good at being locked up most of the day. They are highly active animals that need vigorous exercise. The volunteer misspoke and that was his mistake (in my opinion). But that was all. A mistake. Ania is the expert on these animals not someone profiling you on your skin color. This organization is wonderful and shame on you for making such accusations.

The dogs and cats at Labs and Friends are well cared for. They save pets from euthanasia and work very hard to find the best fit for adopters. Adopting from them allows them to save more pets.
