We also offer private coaching as well as taping services for out-​of-​town roles.

Past students have BOOKED Series Regulars, Contract Roles for Soaps, Recurring Guest Stars and TONS of commercial, feature, and television gigs. Some students have landed jobs after only attending our intro class!

History

Established in 2007.

Founded by working actor, Jamison Haase, L.A. On-​Camera Training Center has become a mecca for actors of all stripes who want to learn proven techniques for improving their audition performances and on-​set takes. Everyone who teaches at LAOTC is working at the highest levels their field and know what it takes to make a career, whether in film and TV, movies, or commercials.

Business Owner

After receiving his BFA, Jamison struck out for Los Angeles in January of 2000. Even though he found some limited success, Jamison realized that his training was incomplete for the film and television industry of LA, and he started training exclusively on-​camera with other actors, writers, producers and directors.

Jamison has worked with the likes of Robert Duvall, Billy Bob Thornton, Robert Downey Jr., Ken Howard, and Cliff Curtis, and has been seen on several television shows, and notably The Last Ship, Castle, True Blood, 24, Mad Men, Vegas, Prison Break, Without a Trace, Heroes, and Cold Case.

I have been a student here for going on 3.5 years. I’ve been in the On-​camera Comedy class with Jackie and I haven’t stopped learning. Jackie has a very detailed technique on the way to mine a scene that yields the greatest amount of laughs and is a sure way to stand out in an audition. Like I said, I’ve been with them for 3.5 years and specifically in the ongoing class for 3 of those years. Jackie and Jamison truly care about their students. Each class size is very intimate and they seemingly double as career coaches. Whether it has been advice on a specific Casting Director workshop, or coaching for an audition, they work hard at making sure YOU succeed. The prices are reasonable at $ 300 monthly tuition, and you can even try each class for a $ 5 intro try-​out. Besides being great teachers, they are great people that have a passion and decades-​built expertise for the craft. It would behoove any serious actor to take a class from either of them.

This is one hell of a class. It is by-​far one of the best (if not the best) on-​camera classes in LA. I have taken literally dozens of other classes over the years, and none of them compare.
First of all, the class size is kept very small so that each actor gets to work twice and get invaluable feedback, individually tailored to each person. Jamison is a working actor himself, so he really knows what is happening in the industry, and he knows how to improve a performance.
Also, Jamison is a stand-​up person. He is just the right combination of warmth and professionalism. He truly cares about his students improving so that they can book work. There is no ego with him. He makes it about you, the actor, getting better and better on camera. That’s it.
If you are brand new to acting, I recommend also taking a good scene analysis class (and improv class) in town, while you are working on your on-​camera skills, because they will really complement each other.
Do yourself a favor and take the $ 5 intro class. The environment here is so supportive. Everyone is here to learn and thrive.

I moved to LA 3 years ago & wish someone had told me about this class sooner. Everything I needed as an on camera actor. There is so much I didn’t know & I didn’t even know I didn’t know. LA On-​Camera Training Center is exactly the school I was looking for when I came to the LA market, but I wasn’t sure such a place existed. I didn’t want another acting technique class. I needed to learn how to work effectively on-​camera. And I was aware that «I didn’t know what I didn’t know.» Thankfully, I took a free introduction class for «How to Be Captivating On-​Camera» at The Actor’s Key, and I found the school I was seeking.
The 12-​week HTBCOC class was a total game-​changer. After using things I learned in Week 1, casting directors were responding to my work as a colleague, not as «just another hopeful actor.» This class is designed to let the actor show their idea of how to deliver a scene, and then to see their work after they’ve been given critique and direction. Even when I didn’t metabolize the notes on my 1st scene to my satisfaction, I saw the improvements in my 2nd take that made my work so much clearer and more effective. I keep working with these lessons everyday. This isn’t a diet. It’s a way of working.
LA On-​Camera Training Center is THE school to which to go for any actor who needs to learn how to work with the camera.

I absolutely LOVED this class! I learned so much in the twelve weeks and it went by entirely too fast. I urge anybody to take this class if you’re someone who is looking to work in front of the camera and really see what you are looking like in those audition rooms. We focus on audition technique and how to make your work stand out from the other hundreds of actors they are seeing. It’s not a scene study class. It’s very practical on camera work since that is our focus as tv/​film actors (auditioning in front of a camera or working in front of a camera)
Jamison is an amazing teacher in that he really gives great individual feedback to each actor. The classes remain small so he can really touch on each person. My class was only 6 people. Each person gets to perform twice in front of the camera for each class, which is fantastic. After the first take, you get to watch it back and receive notes. Then we all get a second take. You really feel like you’re learning and working during the whole class instead of getting your five minutes and sitting there for anther two and half hours watching other people work like in some other classes.
Another great thing about Jamison is that he’s a successful CURRENTLY working actor so his advice and up to date experience on what he’s seen in the industry is so incredibly helpful. And he just brings an enthusiasm to each class which makes you believe that he’s truly passionate about helping his students.
He wants to see everyone improve and succeed. I feel like I’ve really stepped up my game in 12 weeks and will definitely be taking the advanced class soon!

I moved to LA a year ago tomorrow, (I am originally from Missouri) and I was terrified amd excited about all of the changes in my life I was experiencing. I knew I needed to get in to an acting class, but I was scared. I have heard horror stories and been warned about being scammed by acting classes and companies who would promise to help your career– but instead would take your money and run.
I had been searching for months trying to find the perfect fit for the foundation of training I already had. Then I found LA OTC… I started with their intro class and was immediately put at ease. Jamison is very sincere about helping his students, and is a wonderful and patient teacher who has a wealth of experience to share with his students.
What I loved most about the class is that we are filmed and critiqued TWICE in each class, which a lot of classes I found didn’t even put you on film… and that is what we are out here for! LA OTC is extremely professional and understands the value of your time and money spent on their services.
I already have a BFA in Acting but needed more experience in front of the camera as my background is mainly theatre. This class took the foundation I already had and applied it to film acting, and the improvements I made in so little time were astonishing. I feel so much more confident going forward in my auditions, and even in my life here in Los Angeles.
Even if you have ZERO acting experience, classes at LA OTC can be a wonderful start for you. I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed my experience and I am looking forward to taking more classes in the future!

I have studied with Jamison privately and when I heard of his plans to teach a co-​star class, I jumped on the opportunity. The goal with co-​stars is to be memorable without «stealing the show,» as some would say. The course is taught by Jamison (drama) and his wife, Jackie (comedy). They are a fantastic duo and I had such a great time learning from them, as well as from my fellow classmates. The class size is intimate, so we each had ample time to work, view each other’s work, and ask a plethora of questions. What more can I say — if you want to be memorable in the room and BOOK the job, take this class!

I’m really picky about acting classes. I’ve trained a lot, in LA and elsewhere. And I’m a teacher myself, so I pay close attention to the quality of the teaching I receive.
I stumbled onto LA OTC’s Co-​Star Intensive through… Twitter, I think. Co-​Star auditions are this weird little sub-​category of acting work. How do you make a strong, interesting choice with one to five lines, when the scene usually isn’t (and shouldn’t be) about you? So I signed up, hoping to get answers.
The class was straight up excellent. Jamison and Jackie are both fun, supportive, engaging teachers, comfortable with folks in the class with very little experience and those like me who’ve been at it for quite a while. I got great, practical approaches to the work from them, and each student got 1 – 3 takes on 5 – 6 scenes per class, which is a ton of time to work. The class was really reasonably priced, the other students were lovely, my whole experience was great. I rarely write reviews, but they definitely earned it. I’m so glad I happened to find this class.

I remember reading the Unilocal reviews prior to taking the On-​Camera 5 $ Technique Class. In fact, I took the class for the reviews. Why are there so many good reviews? Well, I suggest you show up and take the class, don’t take Unilocal word for it. Show up and get ready, what Jamison is teaching will change the way you work. That’s how I felt, so I signed up for the 12 week Drama Technique class.
I’ve taken plenty of classes around town, I hold a BFA, L. A is my third market, I am a Sag-​Aftra and AEA member, I studied at Steppenwolf West, Brian Reise, Anthony Meindl, with the late Carolyne Barry, Killian’s workshop, Jamison Reeves, probably done a hundred CD workshops… I thought I knew plenty. I do know plenty, all that training is great, but it wasn’t helping me book on-​camera. Scene study, Meisner, improv, cold read, that’s all valuable, but these twelve weeks, I’m telling you, this is what will help you in the rooms that matter most. The casting offices!
Jamison and Tamika are exactly who should be teaching, they’re working actors (I think in the 12 weeks, they both booked at least 2 if not 3 shows) who do this everyday, work like this everyday. Reading the other reviews will tell you what the classes entail, you’ll work plenty, your work will improve week by week, you’ll even have clips of all your work. I assume you came to L.A. to work on-​camera, if you’re not working on-​camera, you should start and this is hands down the place you want to be.

Just finished the Co-​Star class taught by Jackie and Jamison. It was brilliant. Two weeks of drama, two weeks of comedy, all focused on your co-​star audition. They are both booking actors and you work on real sides from current shows on television.
You work on-​camera 3 – 6 times each class and get specific feedback.
I’ve also taken Jackie’s 12-​week comedy intensive. Everyone who wants to work in comedy (writers, actors, directors) should take this course! Learn some tricks for recognizing comedic opportunities!
Jackie and Jamison are my go-​to coaches when I have an important audition. Cannot recommend them enough!

Jackie and Jamison both know their stuff. They are in the game with us, and they are completely aware of how it works. There’s no magic formula that will make you book every audition you go on, but they will help you give a fantastic read, which is all we can hope for.
I’ve taken both the 12 Week Drama class and the 12 Week comedy class and I enjoyed both of them equally. Having that class on camera is super helpful too… your face is never doing what you think it is.
TAKE THEIR CLASSES. You’ll thank yourself.

I wish this class had been around when I first started acting. It’s one of the best I’ve ever taken to learn how to audition and act for the camera. Jamison and Tamika create such a fun, safe, positive environment in which to practice your craft, see what you need to improve, and have the freedom to take risks and make mistakes. If I could more than 5 stars I would! I highly recommend this class not only for Beginners but also intermediate and expert levels of the craft. I came into the class with a dream and no experience but in my particular group there were many who have experience. Point being no matter who you are or experience you have this class had challenging portions. You should want to be challenged! Jamison Haase shows so many new techniques and ideas that are guaranteed to open up your range and ability to nail an audition. I can’t recommend these course enough, I definitely will be taking the advances course he offers including the comedy classes in the future.
The instructor is very professional, a working actor in film and television and easy to work with as far as schedules. He will be straight forward, tell you exactly what you need, honest, and passionate about an art form he truly loves. Can’t go wrong!

This is LITERALLY the only place you need to study at if you want to be a successful LA actor.
Scene study is everywhere, but to find a place that actually gives you time to grow on camera with the tools you need to be on screen, is invaluable!
They also spend time with you. The classes are small, you get to perform how you would if it were an audition, then watch each scene and get feedback, then you get to do it again, watch that scene and receive notes on the change. You have to watch yourself on screen to make changes. LA On Camera gives you the time and attention to detail that no one else I’ve studied with has been able to.
They train you in every aspect. Getting deep into the story, making strong choices, hitting your mark, how to change a performance from a wide to a close up and how to perform and move in a way that you will actually be captured by the camera.
I wish I had found this place 4 years ago. It is a game changing course and I will never be leaving. EVER.
I recommend this to every actor in LA.

Where to begin…
If you’re out there looking for an «acting class» this probably isn’t what you’re looking for. And I mean that in the best possible way. I’ve passed on class after class, knowing that what I needed was not silly exercises, but real, practical knowledge that had to do with the down and dirty technical details that go with on camera acting. In order to know that your performance is hitting home, you need to know what it looks like from the other side of the camera. This course is designed specifically to do just that. Coming from a theater background with virtually no experience in film, this course was precisely what I was hoping it would be, and then some.
Jamison is a marvelous teacher, with excellent feedback, knowledge, and ability. He knows that you won’t succeed in every risk you take, but in those moments you do fail, he will enable you to rise higher than you were before. His «put it all out there» «say what I want to say» attitude is amazing, and more importantly, fits for the industry we work in. You can’t bullshit your way through auditions and expect to see great results. If something doesn’t work, fix it.
In my mind, there is no class more useful for any actor that is looking to work in the film industry. The class, and the teacher, are gems, hidden away from the public, and while I wish EVERYONE knew about it, I am also incredibly grateful to have experienced it as an intimate setting.
I have no doubts in my mind that should I need help preparing for a scene, or desire further classes to hone my skill-​sets, I will be back!

A friend told me about LA On Camera after telling him I was exhausted by my fear of having all this training and yet not seeing results in the audition room.
I signed up for the Intro class. I found the LA On Camera Training Center to be offering solutions on how to break down a scene for an audition, as well as, on how to book the role!
During the How To Be Captivating On Camera 12 week class, I received quality one-​on-​one coaching in a class environment. Now when I receive sides for an audition I know exactly what to do. I now have even more confidence in being in front of the camera, reader, director, producers or anyone in the audition room.
I had the opportunity to audition while taking the course and booked the role! On the film set, I had even more fun using the tools that I had learn from the course and comfortable making marks.
In my commercial auditions, I have even more confidence!
