This review is for their bakery section which was great. I got 4 pieces of Mexican bread and they are only 3 for $ 1. Most places have them for $.75 a piece. A concha is $ 1 at 7 – 11. Of course, the bread tasted great as well. Price wouldn’t mean much if it didn’t tasted good right?

If the employees here were nicer and more attentive I would have added another star. While I treat this store like Jewel or Mariano’s and often only buy things on sale there are some categories like dairy, deli, bakery, and soda/water that tend to have lower overall prices. Other food categories like cereal, bread, ethnic(Mexican), and frozen goods I avoid unless it’s on sale. Carts here tend to be piled with ads not cleaned out by the cart collectors. I’ve even had garbage from McDonald’s and dirty diapers show up in my cart. Not acceptable. Store cleanliness and maintenance are often lacking too like the rolls of paper towels and puddle of water pictured in the photo. The check out process especially on evenings and weekends is crazy. It almost seems that they don’t schedule more cashiers during busier times. Very stressful for customers.

I don’t shop too often at big box grocery stores but this one had some impressive aspects. The alcohol sale prices were pretty good and many cold beers and others drinks lined the refrigerator walls making it easy to drop by on the way to that party. Many of the typical household and personal items were far overpriced. Not the place to get laundry detergent or deodorant. Use WalMart for those I guess. The self checkouts were nice but when you purchase alcohol there you must wait for an employee to come over from the customer service desk.

This is my local Food 4 less store. Came for the sales and didnt need coupons or members card to get them. Dont mind bagging my own stuff because I always stuff everthing in a bag as much as I can anyways. Now they have self check outs but I didnt try them because I ended up buying alot more for less.

Cheaper than Jewel for some items. Not ideal for fresh fruit and vegetables but a nice spot to pick up cheap booze.

Please DONOT Shop here. I am a vendor that services this store on a daily basis. The back room of the store would make you sick. The frozen pallets are sitting out for hours. The meat is terrible. If you only knew how the take care of there goods. Also theres a employee there that is very racial.

This Food for Less is much better than some I’ve seen. If you go during the week, it’s neat and orderly and not crowded. The store is organized well, and things are easy to find. The aisles are nice and big, so that two carts can easily go down them, side by side, which can be important on those sale days. This store offers fresh bread, pastries and vegetables, but be prepared for them not to have certain things on certain days. Once I went and they were out of spinach, for example. If you need the help of staff, they may be a little difficult to locate, as they are usually off the main floor and in back stocking and pricing things. But when you do come across staff, they usually will ask if you need help locating something, if you are in need of assistance in any way, etc. That to me, is always great, as when I first came to this store, I didn’t know where half the items I needed were, and basically asked the guy to write down the aisle locations of about ten different items. For all that the staff does, the lines at checkout are terrible. I’ve never seen more than three lanes open, and lines usually go back into the aisles, which is terrible, so if I go, I’m usually grabbing less than five things. The rule of 15 items or less doesn’t seem to apply here, as I’ve seen people with MUCH more than 15 items in their carts standing in the line… as I hold my carton of soymilk and package of eggs. The prices on goods are affordable, especially the soymilk and soda, and they carry many varieties of both. People of all walks of life shop here, and it’s not as wild as some of the other Food for Less stores that I’ve seen. If I had to go to a Food for Less, this one would be my pick.

Not very close to me, but they sometimes have some great deals. Prices are a bit lower than Jewel/Dominick’s on most items. Aisles are wide and shelves are stocked pretty well. Cashier was friendly.

This is my go to spot. Cheaper than Jewel or Dominick’s(if you can find one). Although I like Jewel, this store, which is just a satellite of Kroger, has great house brands. No problem here if you buy Kroger brand, you will like it and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper. I usually shop on a Saturday or Sunday morning around 6AM(I’m up anyway) and obviously it’s not packed, although the lines can get long if there’s only two lanes open. I’ve never been here during peak hours, and I’m glad. You have to bag your own groceries, and it can be intimidating because check-out lady is always fast and you don’t want to be one of those jerks holding up the line(at least I don’t). It’s spacious with wide aisles and produce is priced right for these«tough economic times». I wouldn’t bother with the liquor department though — -kinda steep. And the specials are great and addictive — I mean, do I REALLY need a 12-pack box of Ritz crackers? Sometimes. Give it a shot. I recommend early. And if you get the cart with the broken wheel on it — –that’s mine.

Meh is right. My coworkers, who are fellow Aldi-philes, said they liked Food 4 Less. So I decided to try it. Ugh. When I grocery shop, I mostly buy produce, so my opinion of a grocery store depends on its fruit and veggies. The produce selection was a step above Aldi, I guess, but not by much. On a good day, you can get decent stuff from Aldi(considering the price). Cermak Produce is better and Pete’s Produce, well, you can’t really top Pete’s Produce for cheap and fresh fruits and veggies. The rest of the groceries are generally cheaper than Pete’s, and it reminds me of Cub Foods. It’s a bit of a «grocery store outlet» so to speak, like some of Pete’s food(and by some I mean a few frozen foods and occasionally organic stuff, that’s it for surplus from other stores). But while Pete’s Safeway and Lucerne food has NOT expired, well, Food 4 Less? It wasn’t until after I got home that I realized that half the cat food I bought was expired, some by over a year. The litter was a good deal though. I’m so disappointed with this location, I’m not even trying the one closer to me. I’m sticking with Pete’s for produce and Aldi for groceries, with a monthly trip to Whole Foods.

This was my first Food 4 Less experience and a good one to learn the ropes at. It was uncrowded and easy to flow around, staring at all the you-can’t-find-this-elsewhere type stuff. I can’t even remember what I got. Some random stuff because I felt bad for it, and some other stuff because I hadn’t seen it before. And beans because they are beans. Your things here are checked out by taking items out of your cart, and put into another, empty cart on the end of the counter. Then when that’s done, you’re told ‘Good day’ and you go over to the front of the store and bag your own groceries. This saves on overhead you see. And this is a great AND easier way to use your own re-usable bags! Cheap prices, efficient way of working that the American masses might be slow to swing around to. But I like it.
