Burbank Recycle Center

This is has gotten much better since the previous owners were investigated for cheating people. It appears to be running smoother and they are paying better. I actually weighed my cans before bringing them in to see if their scales are still off. It was pretty close so I trust they are doing the right thing.

Really, really easy to empty our recycling here! We just drive right in and park next to all the big bins we could ever need. Note that there are special bins reserved just for plastic milk containers and laundry detergent bottles (#2 HDPE). These are located at the far end of the row of bins at the entrance to the hangar-​like building and the bins are much smaller than the rest. The glass bins are over there too. And make sure to put plastic water bottles or the like in the specific water bottle bin. When I was new here, some of this was kind of confusing and the labeling could be better than it is. Workers are everywhere though and answer all your questions. Great spot!

I had been coming here for about a year now for all my recyclables. I used to go Planet Earth by Ralph’s but this place is way much better.
Lots of parking is available. As soon as you park, you can grab as many drums as you can for sorting your recyclables. You can bring them next to your car which allows you to make unloading and sorting much easier. Then you will need to bring the sorted items inside so you will be in a shade and out of the heat of the sun. It will be weighed in and process in a computer and a detailed summary of all items including weight, rate and total refund will be handed to you. They will take note of your car’s license plate # on this receipt. Then, you will head over to the cashier’s office located across the sorting/​weighing area for cashing it in. You will be asked to sign it and presto, you get your cash reward for recycling.
The whole process is really fast. There’s never a line here every time I come in. The people are always nice and greet you with a smile. The place with all the crap that comes here is surprisingly, not stinky so I’m really impressed. They even allow you to use the sink for washing your hands. You can even use the paper towel and hand sanitizer next to the sink.
Facility is huge. They have different bins for all recycling stuff. You can drop off all other times that can not exchanged for cash such as cardboard, pieces of metals, plastics, wine bottles, glasses, electronic items (TV, stereo, printers, speakers, computers, monitors, etc), bulbs, batteries, etc. They don’t accept though, any construction materials such as paints, boards, cements, etc.
I would have easily given them a five star but I took off that one star because of the filthy drums used for sorting and weighing. They need to wash it because of thick grime and dirt instead. This doesn’t deter me from coming back but if they can improve this one issue, then I will not hesitate giving them a five star.

Dropped by today for the first time, I usually go to Green Planet in NoHo, which is alright. The guys that work at Green Planet can be pretty grumpy and I’ve read some angry reviews of people getting ripped off there.
Anyway, I was looking for another place to try and that’s when I found Burbank Recycle Center. Boy am I glad I did! The facility is clean, the guys working were friendly and I was in and out of there, easy peasy. And it didn’t even smell like I read in some of the reviews.
Will be going here from now on.

I religiously drop off my large Recyclables here when my home Blue Bin gets full. I’ve taken the tour of the facility which helped me learn more of the process and outcome.
Bins are clearly marked inside & out, easy drop-​off parking and the crew there are helpful when I have questions.

I thought this recycling center closed at 5pm, not 4:59. I hate when a store is shown to close at certain time, but when you get there a few minutes before that time, they refuse to help or let you in. If they stop helping people 2 minutes, even 1 minute before the allotted time, post that on the f@&-^ing door!

I read some reviews that said they will give you cash for your electronic recyclables. Well… that was a waste of time. I dropped off 2 routers and a monitor just to be told that they don’t pay for it. There’s a closer recycling center that takes electronics, but don’t give cash… I could’ve gone there and saved time and gas. The experience was disappointing.

We started coming here because we decided to no longer believe the lie our apartment (in Burbank) told us. They don’t have recycling for just our building because someone abused it (how do you abuse recycling? show me where he touched you!), but they told us that Burbank sorts through the trash and takes out the recycling. So we believed them… for awhile. I could never find evidence of this statement, so I decided to take matter into my own hands.
We come here once a month to do our good deed. We don’t sort it into bins to have them weighed though. They have skip bins that you can sort everything into. You don’t get $ this way, so it’s up to you which process you want to do. I’d be happy to give my recycling to someone who wanted the cash. If you see me there (blue 67 mustang) stop me and take it off my hands and you can have the $. No, I’m not independently wealthy and I’m not judging you for getting the money, I’m just happy to have this stuff recycled and not in a land fill.
This place is such a great solution to all your recycling needs and it’s easy and quick.

As far as recycling centers, this is probably as good as it gets. I was in and out in a couple of minutes, and with more money in my pockets. You can’t beat that.
I stopped in with a few bags full of plastic bottles, some soda cans, and a few glass bottles. The guy took everything in except for some old hooch glass bottles and some Milk jugs as he said there is a new Government incentive where they can’t accept them anymore because they have no CRV. Never the less, I still got some $$$.

If you live in Burbank, you will be happy to know that the Burbank Recycle Center is open again and you don’t have to take all your items over to a neighboring city.
They take just about everything you could imagine for recyling. In addition to the items I can get cash for, you can drop off other plastics, old electronics, etc.
It’s also a lot cleaner and neater than before.
Help the environment and put a little cash in your pocket too! Woohoo!

Takes anything recyclable, during regular business hours only. They do not however give your CRV deposit back. For that you must go to the recycling center on San Fernando. There is never a line, plenty of spots to park to unload all your bottles and cans. Plus the guy that works there is down to help unload your recyclables if needed. The best part is they also take electronics and batteries.

The recycling center has new owners and is now paying CRV for bottles and cans, Yes!!! The place has cleaned up a bit too. There aren’t huge piles of trash anymore.
Just a warning for whatever reason you have to now sort your glass by color but its good to have them back!

So convenient!

They no longer do CRV, simply just a small amount per pound! I’m somewhat very saddened by this, but then again I was driving all the way from Sherman Oaks to do recycling. Perhaps this was a sign… literally a sign that says try these other two places for per item recycling.. .. well if you have to go across San Fernando to the K Mart/​Ralphs shopping center where they have one of those recycling feeder machines, if you pick the right day and time there won’t be a line.
OR you can go to North Hollywood and check out the recycling near the clown liquor store… I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s over there and they do per item.

Anyplace that will recycle all the stuff that I would have thrown away is an A+ in my book. You can recycle anything and just about everything here. I recycled a bunch of magazines that were taking up space in my condo. Glad to have finally be rid of it.
They don’t give you any money towards recycling magazines but I’m ok with that.

feels good to dispose things responsibly. user-​friendly, organized, and helpful staff. I now have a couple brown bags I keep to sort my recyclables and a worm compost bin. A trip to the burbank recycling center every couple weeks takes care of most things, organic scraps get composted, and the only real trash I have now is the occasional fish bones and spoiled meat based foods. Not only do I feel healthy and responsible this has made my life simpler — no more taking out smelly trash and wastefulness. I wish every city had a recycling center like this. It really helps better your lifestyle towards healthy and simple choices.

This place used to be great but now they’re not paying CRV value for bottles or cans! They’re only paying scrap value! .05¢ a pound! Half a cent per pound! It should be 5¢ a pound! Take your stuff somewhere else! Make ten times more money. You failed Burbank recycling center! FAILED!!!

Sure they don’t pay me anything for my recyclables, but my home only has trash so I’m glad that I can still recycle. I only never got more than $ 2 for a trunkload of bottles anyway.
The new ownership has really cleaned this place up too. It’s no longer the literal dump that it was.

This is nothing like the recycling center I recall from my hometown (is it weird that I recall my childhood recycling center?) That one was, putting it mildly, «sketchy» — you pulled up to a dirt lot behind the post office, some dude stared you down and begrudgingly took your recyclables, and then you got a receipt which you exchanged for money with a sad, mute person in a booth.
At the Burbank facility, things are completely different. For some reason, everyone there is super nice and helpful. If it’s your first time there, it might be confusing to figure out what to do — my first time there I damn near had a meltdown until some nice fellow in a hard hat helpfully explained what I was supposed to do — so let me try and explain it to alleviate confusion for you.
Park your car. Go grab a bin (or two, or three, one for each type of material you have) and roll the bin (s) back to your car. Then load the material into the bin (s), so you don’t have to lug your heavy-​ass Hefty bag around. Roll the bins to the weighing station, where someone will weigh them for you and give you a receipt with the weight on it. Walk the receipt over to the booth toward the entrance and get your $ 7 or whatever. Simple! You’ve spent maybe 10 minutes and earned enough to get yourself a burrito for your troubles.

I gather up all my plastic bottles and cans for 2 weeks, load them up into my gas-​guzzling SUV (kinda defeats the purpose of recycling and saving the planet and all that shit I know!) and in less than 15 minutes I come out of that place $ 10.00 bucks richer. Yaaaaay!!!

You can pretty much find the place by the smell. Don’t confuse that smell with the smell of desperation at central casting. LOL. J/​k. Anyway, you go in with your cans, bottles, or whatever you’re recycling, grab bins to separate the recyclables and take them up to the scale. Bickitty bam, the dude weighs them, gives you a receipt, you take it up to the cashier and get your monies. Took 4 minutes to get 10 bucks.

This is not your mother’s ordinary paper-​glass-​aluminum recycling center, but much much more. Do you have a bunch of random stuff you’d like to recycle like laptops, batteries, engine oil, hard plastics, light bulbs, styrofoam, etc, but don’t know what to do with it? Bring it here. You’ll be happy to have it out of your house and feel good it’s not going to a landfill. The End.

So my apartment building doesn’t have a recycling bin, so I try to be good to mother Earth and save my recyclable items. Before I discovered this place, I was waiting in hour long lines at those centers in grocery store parking lots where you have to put each item into the machine one by one. Too long of a process.
At this place, you drive up, grab trash can bins, put sorted items into said bins (aluminum, plastic, glass separated by color) and take them up to the people. They weigh them, give you a receipt, go to the cashier and boom — you have cash. Everyone was nice and this place was QUICK! I am so glad I discovered this place.

As I am soon to join the throngs of unemployed, I figured I ought to get a little pro-​active about things. So, despite having a recycling system in my apartment, I started saving my bottles and cans and persuaded the bf (who should live in the ocean, he drinks so much water) to do the same. After about a month, a couple humble trash bags in hand, we came here to get a few dollars for the piggy bank.
At first it was a little disconcerting-​what the hell now? There are employees around, but they aren’t exactly chatty. We pulled into one of the maybe dozen parking spots and did what everyone else was doing-​grabbing empty trash cans to sort the plastic, aluminum, and glass. Then we dragged them over to the weigh station, which smells like ass in case you hadn’t imagined. Now I understood why the workers didn’t exactly want an excuse to open their mouths and suck in the stench. Because there were only two people in front of us, it took about five minutes to get our voucher for cash, but if you show up at a peak time, bring a parasol, hat or reading material to stay comfortable, because with just one scale on which to weigh items, you’re going to have to wait and the Burbank heat doesn’t exactly nullify the stink.
Their cashier station is right at the exit, so you can pull your car up to leave and run out to submit your paperwork. Seconds later I had a whopping $ 8.20 for my troubles, but hey, when I’m unemployed that pocket change to some will equal two coffees or a meal for me, and an indulgent outing until I discover just what’s next for me.
