Burbank Montessori Academy

Great school and facility! Miss Kitt and the crew are the best and my son is loving it. He’s also expanded his vocabulary there and has made some great friends. All the teachers are warm and caring and my son loves it there. Great people and happy children.

We checked out many schools, several of which were Montessori and knew right away we loved this place. The play yard is huge with big trees and lots of shade and dirt instead of hard pavement, my son is very active so this was a major plus. Inside, the teachers keep toys and play areas clean and organized all while letting them have their independent play as well. Of course there’s learning, artwork and reading too (I got my first Mother’s Day flower pot artwork — aww) and plenty of space for all of it. Miss Kit and Miss Mona are fabulous as well as all of the other teachers — love these ladies! Another thing we noticed is the children are well behaved too and play well together — that says a lot. Awesome, awesome school:)

Recommended, it is the best place in Burbank to educate your kid and have fun too. I like the way they teach, play and manage. All the staff are very friendly and nice. Homework and follow up always with the kid.

The teachers are really sweet but I really don’t think they embrace the Montessori philosophy, I see little evidence of a prepared environment or any discussion at all regarding Montessori and teaching life skills and school preparedness. My child seems to like the school well enough, but I don’t know if she is gaining the same skills she would be if she were in a proper Montessori school. I know the children watch television at times and this is UNHEARD of in any Montessori school I’ve ever known about. There is also very little communication between the teachers and the parents, which makes it difficult to reinforce what my child is supposedly learning at school.
I give it 3 stars because the ladies there are very sweet and caring and it is a bargain compared to other Montessori Schools. I agree with the other parent about how Filthy my daughter gets from the playground, it’s so ridiculous I laugh at times. But all of her clothes look old and dingy now.

This place is great! My little girl loves Burbank Montessori Academy. They really go out of there way to make the kids feel safe. They also do a great job teaching the kids. My little girl has really excelled since we put her in Burbank Montessori Academy. The staff is helpful and really go out of there way to make feel as a parent that your child is in good hands.

If you are looking for an institutionalized and mapped-​out version of learning, this is not the school for you. If you want more touchy-​feely, granola homogeneity, also not the school for you. This school is for a more individuated learner and free-​range parent — there aren’t the daily notes and checked boxes nor are there arbitrary rules and lack of individuality. Kids are encouraged to learn and grow independently while building relationships with other children and adults alike. The diverse student body and core cirriculum is a big positive and I had two children attend the school for two years each and were both well-​prepped for kindergarten.

We had a bad experience here and would not recommend this school. We got the hard sell when we took the tour but once we were in, the teachers seemed disinterested and uninvolved. The bathroom is dirty and the place is generally run down. Every child in the play yard looks like a hobo after playing there. We even found a filthy poop diaper (someone else’s) in our child’s cubby with flies all over the place. Our child cried every day at drop off, so we moved on to another facility.

The staff is incredibly mean and rude. Even the director Ms. Kit. When you’re talking money, they are all smiles, but any other topic, they are really not concerned. bad vibes from these people. They just want your money.

Both our kids go to BMA, the older one has been there for 3 years and he younger one for 1 year already. We have visited a lot of pre-​schools in Burbank before choosing BMA. We liked the school for its relaxed environment, the teachers are very friendly, have a good sense of humor and caring to the kids. They used to have one teacher that was a bit up tight, but I am glad she was gone before our kids moved into her class. Overall, the school feels like home, instead of a sterile environment in the nearby new school.
Drop off/​pick up can be tricky due to the limited parking and back-​street through way.
My kids love going to school, and I think that’s the best complements.

Our daughter currently goes to Burbank Montessori and really loves it there. The teachers are great with the kids and very personable. They know the habits of each kid and seem to have close relationships with each one of them as well. My child is learning so rapidly and is only 3 years old using words like «sphere» and «horrendous». We are quite impressed.
The main reason why I picked the school in the first place was the huge yard they had with swings, slides and jungle gyms. The place is nice and shady with huge trees and a garden. Not the regular concrete ground you usually see kids play on in the parking lot of the schools.
