History
Established in 2011.
The community-focused nonprofit, Westminster Economic Development Initiative, Inc. (WEDI), founded the West Side Bazaar in March 2011 as a small business incubator for six businesses in a small storefront on Buffalo’s Grant Street. The Bazaar began to make its impact by connecting the people of Western New York with the residents of the West Side of Buffalo, an area that contains about 85% of the refugee population of Buffalo.
After two of these ethnic businesses «graduated» and expanded into vacant storefronts in Buffalo, the Bazaar expanded to its current location at 25 Grant Street with space for 21 businesses. This new location introduced the option for food service businesses with a full commercial kitchen (thanks to the 21st Century Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo). The Bazaar is now a safe, nurturing, inexpensive environment for business owners to start and expand their businesses, transforming not only their lives but the community.

Ben B.
Manager
Ben joined Westminster Economic Development Initiative, Inc. (WEDI) as an AmeriCorps volunteer in January 2012. Since then, he has worked as WEDI’s Economic Development Director by developing and implementing WEDI’s Business Development, Business Coaching, and Microloan programs. Throughout this period, he also worked on recruiting and training the business owners who now operate in the West Side Bazaar.
He was influential in the transition and establishment of the West Side Bazaar at 25 Grant Street. In September 2013, he became the part-time West Side Bazaar Manager in addition to his role with WEDI. Since then, he has developed the mission, program, and business of the Bazaar.
