First trip out to Suzie Q’s tonight. Even with the limited available meats, it was Delish!!! Only 3 choices of meats… pulled pork, smoked sausage and ribs! My hubby was lucky to get the last of the brisket. The sausage was really good, didn’t have that fatty taste, pork was great as were the ribs! I ordered the BBQ Spaghetti since my heart was set on the chicken thighs but they were out. The spaghetti was very good, perfect amount of sauce and pork! The absolute best part was of course the cornbread! Amazing! Looking forward to going back to try some other stuff!

I haven’t had Suzy Q’s in a number of years. I remember it being pretty good. Unfortunately, it has declined. I had a take out order today. Chicken thighs, ribs, and a few of their sides. Well let me tell you one item was decidedly worse than the other. My husband was so disappointed. The ribs and chicken were undercooked and flavorless. I had to put the meat in the oven for 30 – 45 minutes longer. Nothing grosser than undercooked pork. The mac and cheese was dry and disgusting. The greens were flavorless. Salt potatoes were flavorless. The only thing that was good was the baked beans and those are impossible to mess up. Should’ve gone to Kentucky Gregs. Forty five dollars on nothing. Never again.

I wouldn’t tell you to go to the North Pole for the best ice cream. I wouldn’t send you to Tehran for the best cocktail bar. I sure as heck wouldn’t tell you to go to China for Mexican food. I’m going to tell you, though, to go to Buffalo, NY for the best BBQ. Pit masters from KC, Dallas, and he Carolinas, put down your forks before you string me up and hear me out. There’s this small building located in the industrial remains o the city of Buffalo where the pork is served in delicious heaping helpings. Where the ribs fall off the bones just by looking at them. Where the greens are perfect, and the corn bread is enough to make generations of southern cooks weep into their aprons. This isn’t some upscale take on the BBQ. This is the real thing. It’s a run down building, in the run down part of town, but there’s magic in that kitchen. The chairs don’t always match, the meat often runs out, and you’re never quite sure when they’re going to be open. They won’t take your credit card, and sometimes the ATM doesn’t work. Call in your order, and it may not be ready when you ask, but have a seat and buy a bottle of beer from the fridge while you wait. Behind the counter is a charming woman, doing her best as her husband makes the greatest BBQ you can dream of. She’s a no frill kind of woman who will always treat you right. She’s a delight to talk to when you wait for your food. Some places you love because of dining experience. Some you love because they’re treating their food as art. Suzy Q’s? Oh, the only thing they have to offer is their food… and it’s so good you don’t give a care about anything else. Suzy Q’s shouldn’t be where it is. We have no business in Buffalo having BBQ this good… yet we do. Just don’t order all the beef brisket before I get there.

I had heard about this place from a friend and decided to try it out for date night. I ordered the Piggy Pie and my boyfriend ordered a pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese and corn bread. When the food came out the portions were huge. I actually struggled to finish my piggy pie but my boyfriend inhaled all his food. he is the pickiest eater in the world and he ate everything and practically licked his plate clean. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

Love this place for some BBQ fixin’ when we visited Niagara Falls las When we entered, we were greeted by the nice lady at the counter who seated us and explained the menu to us. We ordered the Piggy pie, half rack of ribs, mac n cheese and collard green. Food is delicious, the piggy pie was da bomb! I mean a hearty serving of fries, topped with cheese, pulled pork, beans, salsa, coleslaw… YUM! The pulled pork is really good and moist. One of the best I ever had! The greens are also delicious, but I’m a huge fan of collard greens. The hubs love their mac and ribs too. Come on by for some friendly peeps and delicious BBQ up north! Oh, cash only, so remember to bring some cash or they use their ATM.

The owners are fantastic– really friendly, helpful and oh boy can they BBQ! Since it was my first time here, I went with their recommendations and it was a great choice. The corn bread and sausage surprised me the most– it was some of the best I’ve had. The menu is very well-priced. Be warned, popular items(sausage) do run out fairly early. Also, there is a major lack of proper cutlery(flimsy plastic) and overall it is a very no frills dine-in feel. Cash only. Went out of my way to come here during a cross-border shopping trip and it was totally worth it– will be back.

By far my favorite bbq place in the area. Meat always comes out hot and juicy. I only ever had the pulled pork and smoked turkey because it’s so good I don’t want to waste stomach space on any other meat. Baked beans are delicious along with the corn bread. Smashed potatoes are decent. Get the two heap combo and get 3 – 4 pane rolls on the side to make sammies. I’m hungry writing this

I can’t even believe I have not reviewed Suzy Q’s before! I have tried every single BBQ place in Buffalo and I highly recommend Suzy Q’s over the others. At first glance, when our dinner arrived on paper plates I thought– Oh God, where am I? But I quickly figured out that Suzy Q’s goes no-frills on stuff like plates and menus so that they can go ALLOUT on their actual dinners. And they do it up! You can tell they are committed to incredible smoked meat, because once something is up for the night, it’s just up. No going back. Smoking takes hours and they will not short you on that brand of delicious. We’ve been a dozen times and never have had something we didn’t like. I highly recommend the salty hog– a potato dish topped with pulled pork, baked beans, cheese, and(if you like) cole slaw. Every item is amazing, truly, but if a special is available, you must try it. They are never a let down. If you leave here without trying the sausage or the corn bread, your life choices should be called into question. Pro-tip: They don’t take cards, but their ATM fee is not gigantic.

I highly recommend going to this place for some of the best BBQ in the Buffalo area. It is a legit shack though. I believe there’s parking on Niagara St right out in front. Cash only place, but there’s an atm inside. The ribs are huge and delicious! Just look at the picture!

So this place looks sketchy from outside, but inside it is warm and homey and the staff is incredibly friendly. I have been here twice so far now. First time was a Fox UYE, so it was a large group, and then I liked it enough that I returned the next day with Lee to give it another try, as we both are BBQ fans. First time I had the Piggy Pie. It is more or less a porky poutine, an order of fries with a layer of pulled pork, beans and cheese. It was delicious and definitely something I’d order again. The second time I had a combo of pulled pork and smoked Polish sausage. The sausage is really wonderful, a great combination of smoke and garlic and meaty goodness. Lee had a pile of smoked turkey, and he loved it as well. I also had the fried corn side, which was deliciously spicy, and the cornbread … the cornbread is worth a trip on its own. It is of the cakey-sweet variety, and when ordered as a side is served with a little bit of honey. I could probably eat an entire pan of it, and Lee agreed. The sauces are quite good, they have a Memphis, which is the kind of BBQ sauce most people are used to – smoky and sweet. They also have a Carolina vinegar sauce, which is a touch that I really appreciate, because I am a vinegar Carolina gal myself. One thing that I automatically deduct a star for is that this place is a cash only business. It’s the 21st century, and even food trucks can take credit cards. It might be snooty of me to expect credit card use, but that’s my own personal bias.

After three visits, I finally feel prepared to write my review. Visit #1: Large party. I had the pulled pork sandwich with corn bread and mac-n-cheese. I didn’t realize I had the choice of 3 sauces and grabbed the spicier one. I later added to some of the sweater sauce and that turned out quite nice. It was a good sandwich, nice size with tender meat. The cornbread, drizzled with honey, was absolutely amazing. The mac-n-cheese was OK, but a little dry and undeserving of the fan fair it often gets on this site. The hospitality was great. Call ahead if you have a larger party coming in. They can set you up in the back. Visit#2: Dining alone. They were out of ribs the first time I came(that can happen), so I needed to return. Of course I had the corn bread but this time with a side of greens which were very good. The meat on the ribs were not fall-off-the-bone, but they are not cooking in any sauce so that you can choose your own. This time I went with the vinegar-based NC sauce. That was the first time I had that kind of sauce and I absolutely loved it. It will definitely be my standing sauce for ribs. Visit #3: Another large party. Again, excellent hospitality. This time I tried the Heavenly Hog. It’s a plating of potatoes, beans, corn, pulled pork, sweet sauce and smothered with cheese. In hindsight, I wish I would have added some spicy sauce because I really liked that mixture from the first time. Alas, it was gone before that thought came to me. It also had a piece of cornbread baked in but I had to get a side with honey as well. In conclusion: Yay! I’m a fan. But seriously, I like this place. I don’t like that you can’t really go here with something specific in mind without calling ahead to make sure they have it. That’s really the only catch. The service is warm and friendly, the food is good and reasonably priced. I love the choices of sauces and of course, the cornbread! So while they haven’t stolen my heart away from One Eyed Jacks, Suzy’s is my favorite place for BBQ in the city.

Introduced to Suzy Q’s Barbecue Shack by Fox E. this past Friday, I can say I am a fan. Fox had one of his«Fox Events» at Suzy Q’s and thankfully I went because I can now say I’m a fan of Suzy Q’s! Located between Bud Bakewell Ice Skating Rink and the Ford Plant, Suzy Q’s is not where I anticipated it would be. I actually pass through this area frequently and never realized the greatness I was missing! Walking into Suzy Q’s, I wasn’t really sure what to expect but it’s definitely family owned and operated and they produce some amazing food. Drink options include a few different beers, Blue Light, Rusty Chain, etc. ice tea, and pop(including root beer!). I opted for a water as I was feeling particularly parched and needed to quench my thirst. The menu is fairly extensive, I ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, Memphis Style(with coleslaw in the sandwich), a side of corn bread, and a little garlic pod of sorts to start. Everything was delicious and it was only enhanced by the three different varieties of BBQ sauce available at Suzy Q’s: sweet, spicy, and one that is more vinegar based. Fox informed us that Suzy Q’s can and does occasionally run out of various items later in the day because everything is made fresh. Either way, there is definitely something on the menu for any lover of BBQ! Thank you to Fox E. for introducing me to Suzy Q’s BBQ Shack!

My family and I went to Suzy this Friday and ordered 3 baked fish dinners, one with smokey potatoes, one with mac & cheese. We had diet vernors and diet dr pepper. Great fish and great sides with garlic pods(rolls). We will return soon and often.

We finally made it to Suzie Q. We normally eat dinner later, but knowing how they run out of stuff fast, we skipped lunch and went for a very early dinner. We arrived on a Saturday around 4:45pm. Nothing fancy, but very welcoming. We sat and were greeted, we were told they were already out of chicken! That’s okay, we were not gonna get that anyway;) we started with the loaded garlic pods, basically cheesy garlic bread, so cheap– so delicious. I had the rib and turkey combo with Mac and cheese as my side. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich Memphis style with baked beans as his side. EVERYTHING was AMAZING!!! They have a sweet bbq, a hot bbq, and a vinegary bbq sauce all on the table for your own picking. I had the sweet bbq on my ribs, the vinegary one in my turkey and my husband had the hot on his sandwich. We can not wait to return to try more things on their menu.

Easily WNY’s best BBQ. One of the best BBQ places in the entire world. I’m not remotely exaggerating. This place originally was named«Sudoku BBQ», and served nothing but BBQ Noodles and BBQ Sushi, with BBQ Saki to wash it down. This was tremendously unpopular with the Riverside locals, who are at least 98% Chinese and not particularly fond of Japanese stuffs. So naturally, the place had to adapt, and adapt they did. They decided to forego the masses of Chinese(mainly Cantonese) people in the region and Americanize themselves. So they put a huge Statue of Liberty on the roof, a large Pink Cadillac permanently in the parking lot, and changed their name to «Suzy Q’s» which is a play on «Sudoku» but more«Buddy Holly» than«Crossword Puzzle.» None of what I just said is true. What to order: Ribs, Sausage, Salty Hog Pie, Iced Tea Lollypops at counter. What else is good: Brisket, Other Pies, Garlic Pods, Pulled Pork, Sweet Tea. I think I have a new favourite BBQ place in WNY. Having now eaten here a 3rd time it is the best. This place is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing. Yes Kentucky Gregs has amazingly good Pulled Pork and Garlic Toast, but across the board, Suzy Q’s is absolutely phenomenal. They’re also extremely cheap… I got enough food to last me 3 days for about $ 21. Muy fantastico. I’m glad it’s not called Boozy Q’s though, otherwise the owners would be drunk all the time. Hic. I’ve tried the Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens, former is OK, greens are good. The pulled pork is great, but get it as part of the«Salty Hog» which is an incredible concoction of random stuff, like a BBQ Garbage Plate. It’s not a very typical BBQ dish and is very much a mish-mash of everything… it is very cheesy and with the salsa and all the potatoes in there as well, it didn’t look like it would be something I would go for. But with the inclusion of the excellent beans and the delicious pork, and with their magnificent BBQ sauce smothered all over it, it was nothing short of fantastic. I enjoyed every bite and it lasted for days. Thank goodness it’s not called Floozy Q’s, otherwise there might be a problem with girls soliciting in front of the store. Then again maybe I could live with that. But the star of the show is the Combo Platter with all the meats. O. M. F. G. The ribs are some of the best I’ve had, anywhere. The Brisket is very good, not on the same stratospheric level as the other meats. And the Polish Sausage is one of the most delicious, incredible, juicy, flavourful sausages you’ll ever eat. It shoots its gooey goodness all over your mouth like any true sausage should. Try a Sausage sandwich or the Salty Hog Pie if you want something smaller. Both are off the charts. You should come here, so to speak, just to feel this sausage shoot its hot, gooey, salty deliciousness all over the inside of your mouth. You might even have some run down your face. I’ve seen it happen before. Just make sure you swallow it all. And what’s more it’s enormous(possibly even bigger than my own… possibly), and even more impressively, if you get it on a sandwich, the bread it comes on(which is a large roll that can barely accommodate it) is absolutely delicious too… very fresh and tasty in and of itself. A nice additional surprise. At least it isn’t called Cruisey Q’s because then the owners would always be away on vacation and you’d never be able to eat here. The BBQ sauce is also excellent, there’s a sweet version and a hot version… both are tangy and both are absolutely delicious on any of the meats. Their sweet tea is good, similar to a lot of the sweet tea in the south. I also tried their Garlic Pod, which is like a mini portion of Cheesy Garlic Bread for under $ 1(another example of their incredible pricing). And it was delicious. I’m glad it’s not called Swayze Q’s otherwise they’d play Ghost, Dirty Dancing and Point Break 24⁄7 on the TV and that would get old. Nobody puts Suzy Q in a corner. Best of all were the ribs. Ignore the bad reviews… my word, they are not just good, they are grrrrrrrrrrrrreat. Definitely the best ribs I’ve ever had in WNY(not even a competition, they’re miles ahead), a very delicious, rich, smoky taste, a huge portion that will satisfy even the heartiest appetites… not too wet to be jelly-like, and not too dry to be anything other than tender and juicy. Perfect! And an honourable mention goes to the sweet tea lollipops they have by the register, which are sold separately. Those are absolutely deliciousness! Deliciousness can be used in that context, I have deemed it to be so. They didn’t have them on my most recent visit though. I miss them!(sob) Bring them back!(sob) OK, hissy fit over. #BoysDon’tCry #Myth #WhyAmIUsingHashtagsInAYelpReview? #CanYouEvenUseQuestionMarksWithHashTags? #CrapIDidItTwice Finally, be glad it’s not called Snoozy Q’s. Otherwise they’d never open on time because the damn owners sleep through their damn alarm every damn morning. Amirite? Right.

This is a great BBQ location located near the Chevy plant along the river on the Tonawanda and Buffalo border. The food, service, and atmosphere are all great and this may possibly be my new favorite BBQ joint in WNY. As others have said be aware that they do run out of food on busy days and once they are out that is it for the day. Luckily the day I went they had everything, but if there is something in particular you know that you want then I would call ahead to avoid disappointment. Honestly, I would just call ahead either way just to be safe. I ordered a two meat combo since I knew I really wanted to sample their ribs and pulled pork to compare to other places. The ribs and pulled pork were great and I also ordered the fried corn and mac and cheese as my sides. The fried corn side was awesome and be advised it is spicy and packs a kick, but made a great and flavorful compliment to the BBQ. The mac and cheese was good, but it wasn’t out of this world like Fat Bob’s in Allentown. One really unique thing I liked about Suzy Q’s was that they have a Carolina style vinegar based BBQ sauce among their choices of BBQ sauce and this was really cool because many places outside of the Carolinas region of the country don’t have it all. The other sauces they offer are great as well. I seriously can’t wait to go back here and the thought of the great meal I enjoyed here still makes my mouth water.

My fiancé mentioned Fat Bob’s for dinner, so i suggested Suzy Q’s instead since it’s been on my to-try list for a while. We went early on a friday night, arriving around 6pm. It was pretty empty with only about 2 tables with patrons. The staff was very friendly, with Suzy being one of them. It’s cash-only so bring cash! or they have an atm on site if you want to pay the extra fees. Now, I feel badly for only giving this place 3 stars since i have read so many good reviews. And i will give it another try, hoping that it will change my mind. I understand that some items are limited and can be sold out, but we were there at 6pm!!! They were out of ribs, brisket, fried corn and hot dogs, all of which(minus the hot dog) were what I had planned on ordering. But, we were already there, so we went with the flow. To start off, they didn’t have much of a beer selection. They had rusty chain, blue, and one blue light left. Another thing that bothered me was that absolutely everything was disposable. All plates were styrofoam, plastic forks and knives and cups… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I’m no environmentalist buy any means, but come on… Onto the food… we both got the 2 meats with 2 sides combo, pulled pork and the smoked sausage for our meats, with greens and sweet potato stix for my sides, and mac and cheese and creamy coleslaw for my fiancé’s. We also got the garlic pods loaded(basically just cheesy garlic bread on a little bread roll) — they were ok, nothing spectacular. My sides were very good — the greens was flavorful and just melted in my mouth, the sweet potato stix were nice and crispy and came with a butter/honey dipping sauce. I tried the mac and cheese(browned on top and a little dry — which i liked but my fiancé prefers more creamy and cheesy), and coleslaw(which again, i liked cause it wasn’t drenched in sauce, but my fiancé prefers a lot of sauce). My plate of pulled pork was a little dry. I understand that I was supposed to add my own sauce to it to make it moist — which i did. But i have to say that i make a pretty damn pulled pork myself, so i wasn’t that impressed — except the«smokey flavor» was nice. The smoked polish sausage had a nice flavor to it, but I have been spoiled with this special polish sausage that my fiancé’s family gets from St. Catharines, Ontario that is super lean and awesome… so Suzy’s sausage just seemed fatty(although, again, had a good smokey flavor). So, we are looking forward to returning soon to sample their ribs and brisket, and hopefully I’ll be able to add another star or two to my current review!
