I love little neighbor liquor stores. Too bad this isn’t one. The selection is terrible, the prices are way too high, and the clerk couldn’t be bothered to help me. Even though I was the only person in the shop. I’ll walk miles to find a better place

Great liquor store. Open much later than my home town so, that was pleasant surprise. Selection is wide and varied. The place is, a little unkempt, but it’s got a certain charm. Prices are fairly reasonable. You can many times hear the bands from DBGBs bleeding through the wall but that’s fine since there’s no ambient music playing. It’s never busy and the guy behind the counter has always had pretty good suggestions. He knows how to get you drunk, cheap.

I go to this store because it’s walking distance from my home. I would never drive here because parking is terrible on this block and you would most likely have to park illegally if you wanted to run in quickly.
The store itself is very small. They have a decent selection but you’re not going to find the variety they have at a larger store. The prices are a little higher than the larger stores. I don’t mind paying a bit more when I can and it goes to a small business.
I really like that I can go in here and the staff isn’t overly eager to help you. They just let you chill and decide what you want on your own.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would.

I ran in here on a Tuesday night in a snow storm. I had $ 10 for a bottle of wine. Since the prices are OUTRAGEOUS here (and few products actually have a price on them), I had trouble locating a cheap bottle. When I asked for help, the aging hipster behind the counter acted like I asked him to put his hand in a bag of warm dog shit and squeeze.
It seemed like he couldn’t BELIEVE someone had the GALL to come into this establishment and ask for CHEAP wine. Dude, you are in a neighborhood where panhandling is the largest form of industry and puking on the street is the biggest form of recreation. Cheap wine drinkers should be your target demographic. Nothing wrong with that. (Sometimes people want a $ 10 bottle of wine to drink while watching a little Toddlers and Tiaras, OK?)
To end my story about this jerk, after I (with no help from him, seriously) found a cheap bottle of wine, he didn’t say a word to me as he cashed me out. No thank you, or have a good evening, or «How ’bout them Sabres?» or whatever people say here. D-​BAG.
I will say that the cutie who looks like Horatio Sanz who works here is OK for customer service. What happened to the old dude who worked here? He was great.
I will go to discount liquors on Elmwood from now on. They have Franzia in a box that I don’t need to sell my organs on the black market to afford.

I try and try to be a patron at this store but I just can’t do it anymore. The prices aren’t competitive at all and the employees seem more like its a bother helping other than explaining the value in some of their products.
I know its not close anymore but if you cant stock up at Premier its the best way to go. But, if your like me and want to stay in Allentown, go to the Discount Wine & Liquor on Elmwood near North.

the only redeeming quality i have found patronizing this Allentown wine and liquor shop is that it is open much later than most liquor stores, including sundays. so when you’re in a pinch, and you really must, its sufficient.
however, do NOT expect competitive pricing, selection, or remotely courteous service. you should expect to have to ask for the price on each dusty bottle, as none are labeled correctly and most aren’t at all. they simply have a little sign instructing you to ask the clerk for the price, who will then proceed to answer your question as if you were interrupting him from blogging about his gritty existence living in Allentown…(i’m not bitter, no… lol).
if prices in this establishment were not utterly ridiculous, i could forgive all else and even revel in the bohemian charm of it, but not when you’re being thrown over a barrel for a bottle of wine that you most certainly could have purchased for 2/​3rds of what you just forked over.

Wine and Liquor store (No beer.) Great selection, average prices, phenomenal location. Open later then all stores in the Buffalo area (9:15 am — Midnight monday through saturday, 12 – 9 Sunday).
Smaller, dusty, but charming. Owner has extensive knowledge of all types of wine. Customer can browse through wine selection, but Liquor is located behind the counter (Handled by clerks). A staple of the Allentown community, Gives off an authentic vibe that sums up the neighborhood.
