History
Established in 1967.
In 1967, Karl & Margarete Scharf bought the former Rimbeck’s Schiller Park Tavern. She loved the building and the location — at the dead end of South Crossman Street and because of its proximity to the park. It was opened as Scharf’s Schiller Park Restaurant on October 1, 1967. In 1968, Mrs. Scharf held one of the area’s first Oktoberfest events, as part of the restaurant’s anniversary celebration-a tradition which continues annually to this day.
In 2012 hard times threatened to close Scharf’s for good, but a write-up by Samantha Maziarz-Christmann of the Buffalo News, turned things around and helped Scharf’s survive long enough to relocate to West Seneca. The new bigger location is now in its 2nd year. On the one-year anniversary of the move, Scharf’s held a huge outdoor tent party with music by Die Auslanders! A cruise night is held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month during the summer, so that the place would have a great summer presence as well!
