Class Act Barbershop

He cuts hair well and he’s very professional but it’s overpriced. I texted once for an appointment and was asked to message one week before the date. Lots of other great barbers in the area with a better attitude and prices. I’d recommend going elsewhere.

I came in after seeing a sign that said walk ins welcome. The owner, Nathan, was at work with the only other client in the store. He greeted me and mentioned that his business was by appointment only. He said he did have an appointment time available in 2 hours, at 3:30. I agreed to return then. Tastefully appointed shop, with a leather seating area, HD TV, requisite smooth jazz piped in, etc. I came back at 3:20 and took a seat in the waiting area while Nathan was with a client. Around 3:30, a man came in as clueless as I was, and was told about the appointment requirement. He mentioned the sign and said that may be a bit of false advertising. At that point, Nathan said its not false advertising, explaining that walk ins are welcome, if there’s availability. A bit of calm back and forth, with Nathan repeatedly reminding the customer that he’s been here 34 years and never had an issue with his policy. The man finally asked, well, do you know any other barbershops in the area? Nathan said «No I do not.» The man said «well, have a blessed day», and left. A minute went by, and Nathan talked to me for the first time since I came in, asking, «I’ll be with you shortly, but didn’t you walk in earlier?» Yes, I said. He then used my situation to explain how he was indeed correct on his walk in policy, and skewered the previous guy for being bad tempered. «I’ve been doing this for 34 years. I have doctors and lawyers for clients. Never had an issue with this» I volunteered that a simple addendum to the sign saying, «subject to availability» would make this a non issue. He continued to maintain that the man was wrong and wouldn’t be told how to run his business. I said have a nice day, and left.
I have no issue with appointment only barbers. I’m a fan of them, actually. But to me, «walk ins welcome», or any similar phrase at a barbershop, means you can sit down, ask how many, and wait your turn. I’ve gotten my hair cut in – literally – every corner of the U.S. in the last 2 years, and that policy is what every barber I’ve gone to has followed. And if Nathan’s been in business 34 years, and yet refuses to speak of any other barbershop in the area, he’s telling me everything I need to know about how he does business, particularly when I can go a mere 4 blocks south on Elmwood and Tupper, which I did, and get my hair cut without a wait, for half of what Nathan charged. The way he treated that potential customer, who also mentioned that he’d just moved into the neighborhood (and could have been a steady customer), made me not want to give him my business.

Class Act has a professional environment and is ran by an exemplary management with clean and neat establishment.
Bad news its wayyyyyyyyyy overpriced $ 30… $ 30.00… THRITY EFF DOLLARS!!!
That’s double what an average barber in Buffalo will charge only for a cut that is, wait for it (((((Average))))) for the marked up price.
If the prices were adjusted to the area or if the quality of the cut was phenomenal i might come back. But for $ 30 for a cut that only average hell nah DONT waste your money.
