History

Established in 2005.

In 2005 Caramici’s Dessert Bar & Bakery emerged in North Buffalo, NY. By November 2012, we moved to larger location at 1501 Hertel Ave. And while we still serve coffee, tea, espresso and cappuccino, we changed our name to Caramici’s Bakery. The name derives from two Italian words (cara and amici) that, loosely translated, means dear friends.

We at Caramici’s are passionate about our work. Whether you enjoy a simple, but delicious, cannoli or order a wedding cake for 200 people, every customer becomes our «dear friend» when they walk through the door.

My name is Diane Serra and I am the creator and owner of Caramici’s Bakery. Welcome «Dear Friends», you’ll love it here!

Meet the Business Owner

Diane S.

Business Owner

Growing up in Medford, MA, I was influenced by my entrepreneurial parents and family. Coming from an Italian family, gatherings included many relatives and friends, where food was always being served. Pasta with gravy («sauce») was the staple meal, followed by endless desserts from our favorite local bakery or delicious Italian cookies baked by my aunts. Fortunate to have learned to cook and bake so young, and unbeknownst to me, my destiny was born.

After marrying Rick in 1984, we moved to North Buffalo where we still reside over 30 years later. While raising 4 young children, I discovered a passion of baking for friends. Soon, my delicious pastries were in demand and Sweet Necessities by Diane was born. For 17 years I supplied many with cookies, pastries, gourmet dessert cakes, special occasion cakes and wedding cakes. After our children were grown, I attended the Minority & Women Emerging Entrepreneur Program sponsored by the UB School of Mgt and Allstate Ins. to prepare for more.
