History

Established in 1897.

The «Library» was founded in 1895 by Polish immigrants who wanted to create a space where they could socialize and engage in cultural pursuits. There is a library with over 4,000 titles on premises and the oldest active theater in Buffalo with productions by the «Torn Space» company.

An important aspect of the «Library» has always been its role as a gathering place. Many parties, meetings and other events are held here. The club room, with its vintage oak bar, is a lively place on weekends. One can mingle with Polish folks, both immigrants and Americans, students, neighborhood denizens and hipsters from across the city.

We have a free to use 9′ pool table and tables for chess or other games as well as free Wi-Fi.
