Inexpensive and same good taste every time you order. Small business owner, working hard all day to keep the taste same. Worthy of 5 star.

***update** Please refer to my older review for more details. Not much to update but Unilocal won’t place new photos in old reviews so I’m just updating. Located INSIDE Super1Mart. It’s a large Korean market, same plaza as Paris Baguette. If you don’t know PB, you’re either not from here or under a rock. My soup was $ 7 with tax. Not bad. Order at the counter. Serve yourself rice. Nom nom nom. But I just noticed BCD tofu house is here now. Uh oh. :/

I give this place a 4 stars rating, keeping in mind that it is a small operation inside a food court(within a supermarket). Comparing it to larger restaurants just wouldn’t be fair. So if you come, definitely remember that this is not a fancy sit-down but a food court/cafeteria-like setting. I’ve been to Myong Dong Boon Shik twice and both times I’ve been satisfied with what I ordered. The first time I tried their ra bokki(ramyun/instant noodles with sticky rice cakes). It was standard Korean fare and was spiced just right. The food came with a complimentary egg drop soup and banchan(side dishes). The banchan was nothing spectacular but I was glad for it! The soup was also pretty tasty; not super bland like lots of free soups. I was with more people on my second visit and we ordered the soondobu(spicy tofu stew), bibimbap(rice mixed with vegetables and meat) and kalbi plate(Korean short ribs). All the dishes came with your option of two types of rice(purple grain or white) that you can serve yourself on the side. All orders also came with banchan(this time the steamed egg was my favorite and really delicious!). This is a great option if you are shopping at the supermarket and it’s conveniently close to lunch or dinner. It can get a bit crowded but never crazy. I haven’t tried the other two places in the food court(one reviewer described it head on: korean-japanese and korean-chinese) but go with Myong Dong Boon Shik and you won’t be sorry. TIPS: –You order with the person at the counter and when your number is called, you pick up your own food. –Two types of rice(purple grain and white) are available to the left side of the counter. –Water is also self-serve on the left side of the counter.

i love this place! I go here for the homey korean food that I crave at a good price. Their kimchi bokumbap(kimchee fried rice) is great, dduk mandoo gook(rice cake dumpling soup), and their yugaejang(spice beef shredded soup). I usually order then go grocery shopping and come back to eat :) The owners of this place are really nice.

we order $ 50+ food every week from different restaurants. we got food to go from here yesterday, dishes that needs to eat with rice. when we got back, i open the 5 rice container. i smell nasty sour rice. disgusting… i am a daily rice eater, i can tell these rice are old rice from few days before. the free kimchi and radish taste funny too. stinky smell. and they give small amonut of food for food dishes. huge to go container, when you open it with tiny amount of food. WARNINGPEOPLEDON’T EVEREATHERE… you guys will never get business from us again. rice is cheap item. can’t even give proper rice how can we eat here?

Tucked away in the small food court at Han Nam Super 1 Mart, Myung Dong Boon Shik has some tasty dishes. Their specialty seems to be soondubu jjigae(soft tofu stew). It’s served in a hot bowl and stays hot. The gentleman who usually serves us seems to be the owner as he is especially courteous. He said kahm sahm ni da(thank you) after giving me an extra cup for water. He said it again when I asked for more banchan(fermented spicy cabbage and other appetizers). And he said it one more time, after giving me a togo container. Inexpensive, quality food. I’m a fan.

Not sure why but my order took a long time. I ordered«fish cake soup & dukbokki(spicy rice cakes)». Both dishes were just OK and the fish cake soup tasted a bit funny. It didn’t have any flavor and the quality of the fish cake smelled and tasted funny. Customer service was good but that still doesn’t win over the taste.

First review ever!(Super long overdue too… I wrote this a REALLYYY long time ago and just never published it… OOPS!) I’m all for places with good food and usually try not to let lack of service bother me too much. But when the servers barely speak English and you find a blue ceramic chip in your pancake appetizer, it’s hard to disregard their faults. They also brought out the fish appetizer AFTER we were practically done with our food AND the ice cream machine was broken. Sad times. And all we got for all that was a stone-faced«sorry». I got the spicy chicken and oyster(medium) tofu soup combo, my aunt got the kalbi and beef(spicy) tofu soup combo, and my cousin got the kalbi and beef(mild) tofu soup combo. The portions of meat were decent, smaller than previous times(I’ve been here a few times with my family). Sadly the soup was bland, not very flavorful. The kalbi was standard, nothing special. I’ve had better. But I’m not gonna lie, that spicy chicken was TAAA-STYYY! Maybe the wonderfulness of it all was heightened by the horrible experience but I still enjoyed the spicy chicken dish with onions, mushrooms, and broccoli mixed in. The only other good thing here was the free coffee: mocha and hazelnut cappuccino. So why the two stars you ask? Because my family loves to go here. There’s something about their spicy chicken and tofu soup that keeps them coming back. I don’t mind this place as their food can be good, it just wouldn’t be my first choice. 2STARS — that spicy chicken bumped up the rating! Conclusion: If you want yumminess in your mouth and a hassle-free meal, I’d head somewhere else first. *Note: I did visit at a later time and the manager was there. The service seemed better so we’ll see. I have hope for this place :)

I was inside the Han Nam Chain supermarket getting some stuff for a family visit and was hankering for some soondae. They had all your homey favorites and looked decent. I just grabbed an order of soondae to go. Not great, but not bad – good enough to satisfy a craving in a pinch. My 2 year-old nephew dug it, if that’s any indication of the tastiness of their soondae. I wouldn’t mind trying some of their other stuff next time.

I’m not sure why this place is getting no love. It’s pretty good. Located in the food court of the Han Nam Chain market, they serve a little bit of everything. From dukk bok gee(spicy rice cakes), kalbi, and noodles, to bibimbap or various soups, they do it all. The dukk bok gee is pretty good as is the spicy pork bulgoki. The bibimbap and kalbi are also good. The meals vary in price from $ 7 to $ 10 and they are large. They come with rice, a bowl of Korean style egg drop soup, side salad, and small plate of various kimchee/ban chan. The side salad seems like an afterthought, but it is actually really good. It is a mix of lettuce and perilla leaves with a drizzle of sweet kochu jang(red pepper paste) dressing. It’s a great complement to any of their dishes. Service is friendly, and you order at the counter, then wait for your number to be called. They have color pictures of all their menu items so it’s easy to order. Once you order, the big silver rice cookers are on the left and you serve yourself. You can pile on the rice in your bowl! Seating is at long cafeteria style communal tables in the food court. I think the quality of the food is pretty close to Surah which is the fancy Korean restaurant in the same parking lot. Not too shabby for a food court. If you’re coming on a Sunday and complaining about how it’s so busy, then why don’t you get your cheap self to a real restaurant? Come with a small group and you can share a lot of the dishes or even mix in some jja jang myun from the other food court restaurant.

They got my «to go» order wrong again. Must be my english. lol Next time, I’m checking the order before I go home. I was so looking forward to a good soba dish, instead I got tofu soup with my bbq short rib. Short rib was good, tofu soup not so much. If I wanted Tofu Soup, I would have gone across the street to Myungdong Tofu House. Their Tofu Soup is the best., Disappointed Customer.

This restaurant is located inside the Han Nam Chain Super 1 Mart on Beach Blvd and Malvern. There are three different stands inside this food court area that I can succinctly describe as «korean food», «korean japanese», and«korean chinese». Myong Dong Boon Shik would be the«korean» stand you hit first walking into the food court. The«korean japanese» serves more sushi like items. The«korean chinese» serves black bean noodles, wontons, etc. Came by for a quick lunch and ordered the kimchi bokgum bap(kimchi fried rice) and daeji bool go gi(spicy korean pork). it was packed since it was a sunday and it seemed lots of kids came by here for post-church lunch fellowship. Might have been a reason why the food took so long. The kimchi fried rice was alright~ good portion for the price, lots of kimchi but nothing else to make it stand out. They should add some sort of meat aside from the sunny side up egg that you stir in(yum). They give you a little plate of kimchi and banchan which is nothing worth mentioning. The baechu kimchi(cabbage kimchi) was ok, but the chong gak kimchi was waay soft and over done(raddish cube kimchi). The pork was spicy and had lots of onion but the thing was swimming in oil. It’s a weird reddish pepper oil that seemed kind of foreign to me. We had to tilt our order to the side and pull out the meat cuz it was just gross to see meat swimming in this strange what i presume was pepper oil. It tasted okay but it was on the negative side for the amount of oil they put into the box. Prices were okay but the food was definitely on the fast food side of the spectrum. I probably wouldn’t order those dishes again. I do kind of wish I ordered the cold noodles(they have kong gook soo and nengmyun) but meh. i think most people here were coming for the korean chinese stand(black bean noodle /jja jjang myun). Would have rather ordered something else or picked up the fast food items inside the store. 2.5 wouldn’t recommend for those two dishes(maaaybe for the kimchi fried rice if you really didnt want to make it at home) but over all. bleh.
