This review is only for the chicken. This place has no business making fried chicken this good. The biscuits were ok. They do have a tv but it only shows chicken and biscuits and other sides.

I’ve been coming to Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant since I was a kid. The quality has varied over the years. I visited Knott’s Theme Park with my family and planned on eating in the restaurant at some point during our visit. I discovered that the restaurant is closed for remodeling but was happy to see the To Go Restaurant has been moved to the old Pinks Hot Dog location. We ordered the 14 piece meal with two sides and biscuits. The chicken was awesome. Every piece was moist and tasty. The mashed potatoes and gravy was so damn good. I had seen a few Unilocalers comment that the potatoes tasted like they were out of a box but they certainly didn’t taste that way to me. The gravy was rich and thick with chunks of chicken… YUMMY! The coleslaw was very good but not my favorite. The biscuits lathered with Boysenberry Jam and smothered in taters and gravy was off the hook. I was feeling nostalgic as I watched my 10 and 9 year old power down their meals loving every bite. It exceeded my expectations for quick take out. In fact I would say it was better than any meal I’ve had in the actual restaurant in all my years. Best part it was cheaper and way tastier than eating at any of the food stops inside the park especially feeding a family of 4 plus Grandma. We even had a few left over pieces of chicken and some taters and gravy and I felt guilty tossing it in the trash so I found an older gentleman picking up cans on his bike and offered him the left overs which he gladly accepted and I’m sure he enjoyed even more than my family and I did. 4 stars for value, quality and flavors.

Today was our first time visiting knotts berry farm park and everyone we talked to, had mentioned to try the fried chicken. Unfortunately the restaurant has closed due to renovation but they say the chicken to go is the same thing. The front desk of knotts berry hotel gave us the phone number but when we called, no one seem to know the hours of operation. The day we went and visited the park, we stopped by the chicken to go since we saw the open sign. The first thing I noticed as we walked in is the smell. Not the smell of a fried chicken but smell of horse poop. I told my husband to let’s just try because everyone is raving about the fried chicken. WORST fried chicken I’ve ever tried! Wet soggy bland chicken served with tiny BITTER biscuit. I could barely eat them even though I was starving. I’d rather have popeyes chicken than the chicken they serve here. Worst meal at a theme park ever!

Knott’s is my favorite place on the planet! I love everything about the park, the marketplace, the food! Chicken To Go rocks because sometimes I can’t afford to drop $ 20 a plate at Chicken Dinner Restaurant to have the whole experience, but I still want to eat the chicken! The food is the same deliciousness that comes from the main dining kitchen, its affordable, and you get a decent quantity. Chicken is always fried just right, mashed potatoes and gravy are yummy. I love the Chicken Noodle Soup. All the sides are good, any combo is great. Boysenberry Butter is fantastic for biscuits! My only request, for both locations, would be better hot sauce. Tabasco just doesn’t cut it for me with fried chicken. I like something a little more Louisiana style, or Mexican. Ultimate choice would be Texas Pete!(hint hint) There’s also tons of seating around the marketplace to sit down and have Chicken To Go. I highly recommend it, and all dining at Knott’s. The food is very good quality and affordable throughout the park and marketplace.

For such a busy place, the service is so slow. We originally wanted to eat inside Mrs. Knotts, buts since the line was extremely long, we opted to get our chicken to go. It was definitely not worth the convenience. The chicken came out luke warm and soft. It was missing the crispy crunchy crust that you would get at the restaurant. The mashed potatoes are cold since they have these pre-packaged. For us, it’s either Mrs. Knotts in the sit down restaurant or none at all.

Afternoon snack on Saturday, 11÷28÷15 There was a small wait in line but it’s at a theme park so lines are expected. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy. The meal comes with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, and fluffy, soft biscuits. I’ve had this meal dining in at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner and it tastes just as good ordering to go. The chicken isn’t very salty like chain restaurants elsewhere although sometimes eating it a bit more salty and crispy can be good. I can see why Mrs. Knott’s is a popular place; the fried chicken meal is like a tradition.

Honestly I am sad to be writing this review. After hearing so many fantastic things about Mrs Knotts fried chicken I was left wanting… I guess I came a couple years too late. With Knotts on an economic decline this is reflected in the food. My friends ranted and raved about how good the chicken was in the past and the jam that Knotts made. Frankly the to go location looks uninviting and dark. They have only one person in the front. It is strategically placed next to the bakery so it might boost sales for both location, as we did make our way to look at pastries while we waited for our food. Now to the food… As I’ve described the chicken tasted like that of KFC or El Pollo Loco which was a huge disappointment. We got biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy and coleslaw. The coleslaw was nothing different. The best part of the meal was the gravy. They gravy was flavorful and thick. I Also noticed that the famous jam/jelly was not of the Knotts brand but smuckers which was disappointing. Overall I probably won’t be back. But who knows everyone deserves a second chance.

My family recently spent a week at Disneyland and since we’ve always loved Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner, we decided to eat there for our first night in the area. However, check in at the hotel took longer than expected and we ended up not having time for a full sit-down dinner. Instead, we picked up The Grand Bucket to bring back to our hotel from Mrs. Knott’s Chicken To Go. For just under $ 50, we got 22 pieces of chicken, two servings of mashed potatoes and gravy, another serving of a side of our choice(we got the chicken noodle soup) and 12 biscuits with boysenberry jam. Considering that a full dinner at the restaurant costs close to $ 20 a person and there was six of us, we cut our dinner cost in half but didn’t receive the other sides(salad/corn) or pie. Still, we had plenty of food and even had leftovers. In hindsight, we think the 14 piece order would have been enough but our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs. The fried chicken was moist yet crispy, even the white meat. The mashed potatoes and gravy were decent but bland and needed salt, which luckily I found in our hotel room’s kitchen. The chicken noodle soup, which I raved about in my previous review, was just as wonderful as I remember. It’s still my favorite chicken noodle soup anywhere and I love the creamy texture! The biscuits are tiny but taste good. For some reason, they add boysenberry jam to the to-go bag but don’t include butter. We ended up having to go to the store to buy some because we forgot to ask for it when we picked up our food.

Very nostalgic fried chicken. I grew up going here. Here is a simple review… Salty as hell but yummy fried chicken, gummy/floury tasting gravy(how do you make crappy/bland gravy?), zero taste coleslaw(I mean zero), decent mash potatoes, weird textured 2 star biscuits. The only perfect item was the boysenberry pie! Oh my love where have you been? So gooey, yet tangy, yet sweet and your crust is so flaky and oh oh oh oh aaahhhhhh!!! PS how the fak do you make such shatty gravy. Packet gravy is good, it’s not hard! PSS I’ll still be back, Mrs Knotts is a taste of my childhood

I’ve been coming to Knott’s Berry Farm since I was a kid and Knott’s chicken is one thing I crave every time I am back home. It’s nostalgic for me. The chicken noodle soup, the rhubarb, the boysenberry pie. I love it all. The food hasn’t changed much, but the service has. The past two times I have gone back to order the food, the person at the front has gone over my order with me and shown me what is in each bag and both times, they have forgotten the gravy to the mashed potatoes. It is a very sad and disappointing feeling when you are exciting about a meal you love so much and get home only to find a crucial part of it missing. So shame on me for not double-checking it this past time myself as I was there even though they went over it with me.

What disappointment tastes like. Long gone are the days of looking forward to Knott’s chicken and taking the family day trip for chicken. What we experiences today came out of the freezer section at Walmart. Think stoffers frozen chicken. The service was somewhat fast but what we received as «chicken» was a joke. I ordered the white meat 2 piece and my boyfriend ordered the dark meat 2 piece. $ 26 for this and and 2 drinks. When we opened the boxes, we found what might have been a baby chicken or a Cornish Game hen deep fried. The wing and leg had 1 bite of meat on each. The chicken was dry and tasted like disappointment. It was as though the chicken was still frozen solid when tossed into the frier and then sat under a heat lamp for an hour. The only good part about the chicken was the laughter my boy friend and I had while trying to describe what disappointment tastes like. The sides… The mashed potatoes lack description. No taste, no flavor, no seasoning. If you can mash cardboard, you have their recipe. There was supped to be gravy on these potatoes but there was no color or taste difference to suggest gravy. The baked beans came from the VanDeKamp bean can. There was no extra flavor added. Come on, at least add some ketchup and pretend it is original. The biscuit were bland too. To not be a total downer, I will say the rhubarb tasted great. It has not changed over the years. Save your money! Go to KFC. You’ll get better chicken and save a ton.

REVIEW #1000! Mrs Knott’s chicken is a Southern California essential… whether you are spending a day at the park or stopping in… just for a delicious chicken dinner. I have recently discovered an option that is much more appealing to me… the same delicious chicken… but to go!!! a few years ago we started a tradition of spending Thanksgiving day at Knott’s berry farm. i have spent previous Thanksgivings in Amsterdam(turkey sandwiches and heineken brew tour), Disneyland(river belle terrace turkey dinner), six flags(BBQ), but Knott’s thanksgiving dinner is a close second to thanksgiving in Amsterdam. so the plan is to spend the day at the park and whenever we feel hungry… one of the adults head out and get a chicken dinner with all the fixings«to go» .bring it back into the park and find a picnic table to have our«traditional» thanksgiving dinner. chicken is better than turkey… fried chicken is even better! a family of 4 can eat for under $ 30!(eating in the restaurant is $ 19 per person(includes more) so if you’re craving some fried chicken and are closer to knott’s than Roscoe’s …head on over here. no planning involved no cooking involved no cleaning involved no extended family or in-laws involved(and if they do decide to come to the park… easy to ditch them after dinner) all in all… perfect meal!!! just wish we could get this meal closer to home… but it’t a mighty fine treat =)

I ended up getting a 3 piece chicken to go with sides. I chose corn and mashed potatoes. I decided I didn’t want to wait to get home to try the food so I ate in my car. Wow… I’ve never had such bland fried chicken. Some of the grocery store fried chicken ive had in the past tasted better than this. And we all know grocery store fried chicken aint the best. Figured maybe their sides will make up for it. Nope! Corn was way too salty that I couldn’t even finish it, lol and the mashed potatoes were just like the chicken… bland! Their biscuit was okay, but instead of giving you some knott’s berry farm jam they give you a container of smuckers boysenberry spread that was loaded with high fructose corn syrup. All of this for over $ 12! This place was overated or their food standards have gone down. I felt ripped off and not knowing what some of the other reviewers were talking about. If you ever have a craving for fried chicken you might as well go to KFC… because even that fast food junk is better than Knotts!

So I went to Knott’s to buy a ticket for haunt. and of course they were closed. I was hungry and decided to stop by the chicken dinner restaurant to go window to grab some chicken… well the chicken sucked. sides were worse. and you would expect they give you Knott’s jam /jelly for the bred, but instead they give out Smuckers.. This place used to be good years and years ago. but that time has passed. save your $ 11 and go to KFC if you have the craving. I wasn’t going to post this but the very next day the restaurant was temporarily closed due to a roach infestation… no wonder I didn’t feel so great after eating

2.5 stars. The good thing about Knott’s chicken to go is avoiding the long line to eat inside the restaurant. Parking can be iffy, but I got dropped off and picked back up so it wasn’t bad at all getting in. This place is located to the right of the bakery. Walking in there were only a couple people ahead of me in line so I figured the wait wouldn’t be long. Thing is the customers ahead of me ordered large meals consisting of several buckets and even though there was plenty of chicken sitting right there in a metal bin, it took forever for the employees to get the meals packed up. The employees were very nice I must say, but I just can’t figure out why they can’t get the orders packaged quicker. 20 minutes later I had my order and was on my way. The 3 piece meal consists of a split breast, thigh, leg, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits and boysenberry preserves. They gave me a paper plate, silverware and upon my request some honey. I know that Smucker’s bought the Knott’s jams, jellies and preserves and that the Knott’s Berry Theme Park is owned by an entirely different company, but it’s really disappointing that they sell Knott’s jams and jellies in the gift shop yet put Smucker’s preserves with the chicken dinners instead of Knott’s. If I am at Knott’s Berry Farm, I want Knott’s preserves with my chicken dinner! Let me just get to the chicken. It wasn’t great at all. It looked beautiful when I first saw it and when I bit into the leg the skin had the perfect crunch. The problem is the skin and chicken had no flavor. I heard so many things about how wonderful the chicken here was, but maybe that was before Smucker’s came into the picture. I simply wasn’t impressed. The mashed potatoes and gravy were another disappointment. The mashed potatoes weren’t even warm and they were lumpy. The gravy tasted good, but there was not much to go with the tiny amount of potatoes there was. The corn was very tasty. Probably from a can, I don’t know, but it was seasoned with something and tasted very good and was nice and hot. I’m not a biscuit fan at all. I was surprised to actually like the biscuits! They were very good and I also purchased a side of «Boysen Butter» priced at $ 1.29 to go along with them. The boysen butter was excellent and they offered a generous size of it. I would recommend getting a loaf of bread or extra rolls if you get the boysen butter. They take cash and if you are paying with a debit/credit card they require a picture ID.

Some of the BEST Fried Chicken around. I kid you Knott. LOL Golden brown skin. Light batter. No fat. Tender and juicy with the perfect crunch. YUMMMM. Sadly the sides have taken a downturn. So, I buy chicken only and make my own sides at home.(Not on the menu. Ask the wonderful servers. They are truly there to help.) Biscuits are good. Who can mess up a biscuit and Mrs. Knott boysenberry jelly? Oh, and the boysenberry pie is to die for, but, unless you’re a masochist avoid the apple pie at all cost — pits with frozen apples. Free pie comes with one of the combos. Mash potatoes and anemic gravy. Egads. Potato salad blows. And the cole slaw is WAY too sweet. The other choices are unremarkable. Free parking. Fantastic customer service. Fabulous fried chicken. Worth the stop.

FRIEDCHICKEN!!! Ordered chicken here because the wait at the restaurant was to long. Same chicken as the restaurant. — 3 Piece Meal — $ 9.95 — Chicken was juicy and tender, skin was really crispy. One of the better fried chickens you can find in So Cal. Potato salad and biscuits were basic stuff, nothing special. Come if you want your chicken quick and not have to deal with the restaurant setting.

Work lunch! This week my work brought in fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and biscuits from Knott’s. I had never had their chicken before, and I must say I enjoyed it! I am sure if the chicken was fresh it would have been amazing, but I could tell this chicken was made a little while before. Obviously they had to order ahead, pick it up, and drive it back to work, so that is understandable. I had a breast and it had great flavor, loved the skin, and the meat was juicy. The potatoes were a little dense, but the gravy was delicious. The corn was corn, probably canned. Nothing special. I thought the biscuits were too floury, but with loads of butter and jam, they were edible. I am glad I finally got to try Knott’s chicken. I hope to have it again!

I talked my son into getting a kid’s meal from here instead of popcorn inside Knott’s Berry Farm. My daughter enjoyed chicken nuggets from here when she was a little girl but they no longer have it. The kid’s meal comes with two drumsticks, small corn, small mash potatoes, two small biscuits, boysenberry jam, and a plastic Snoopy cup. This place is pretty expensive as the lady ahead of me had a to go order that was about $ 56 for fried chicken: O He fell asleep after eating the two biscuits in the car and the rest went to waste but this place is not bad for a snack or a little meal.

I love amusement parks, especially those with a bit of special history Knotts Berry Farm started off life with Mrs Knotts famous fried chicken restaurant. When Mr Knotts saw the long queue of waiting customers, he decided to add some rides to entertain them while they waited and that has grown into the park as we know it today There’s a sit down restaurant serving Mrs Knotts chicken but I intended to finish off my recent US fried chicken tour in style by getting some of her famous chicken to go and to consume it in the gastronomic wasteland that is terminal 2 at LAX They helpfully sell chicken by the piece and single biscuits — thigh and a biscuit for me please! I did get an odd look from the security screening personnel but envious looks from fellow diners as I tucked into my meal at the airport. Moist flesh with crunchy crispy skin — I think KFC flavouring is still nicer but Mrs Knotts chicken is less oily. I would however prefer if the biscuit was a little crunchier A good end to my fried chicken quest!
