Working with Dave Sulkin was fantastic… he came to our house on our schedule and brought samples for us to look at and gave recommendations based on our lifestyle and budget. Dave was very patient with us while we went back and forth. The carpet was installed while we were on vacation and we were very happy with the final product and would absolutely use Norman Carpet again.

Two A pluses. First, for doing a wonderful job on my Persian rugs. Very professional. They hand wash their rugs, individually. They repair, too, in the traditional way. Second, for Bob Spano, who has patiently and expertly guided me through the process of getting tile for my bathroom. If they have the tile you want, don’t look elsewhere. Their prices were better than others for the same product, and the service was perfect.

From start to finish I was 100% pleased and satisfied. I called and within two days Paul was at my house, in the evening, by the way, with an ample number of samples, across all price points. He was patient and informative and really helped me choose the right carpet that fit both my wants and my budget. No pressure at all. After about a week to 10 days I got a call that the carpet was in and an install date was set. The day before installation I got a phone call telling me what time I should expect my installers and the next morning they were there, on time. I have a small home and there is not a lot of room to move furniture around but they worked around it and managed. They worked quickly, efficiently and carefully. They were clean, wiping their feet as they came and went, polite, friendly and cheerful. In by nine out by two. They cleaned up after themselves, removed all debris and the carpet is beautiful. I simply could not be more pleased. I’ve recently suffered water damage to my basement and the carpeting has been removed. I won’t hesitate to call Norman for this job when the time comes.

Do not buy imported/Oriental Rugs from Normans. Unless you buy the one you want in your size right off the floor. Sonny Farootan, rug manager, is dishonorable and lies and lies. The imported rug operations is independent from Normans and Norman will not stand behind your order. We ordered our rug mid July,’13 and were told our size was in New YorK warehouse – we would have within 2 weeks. We paid for rug to find there was no rug, it had to be made in India. It is now end of January,’14 and we have no rug. More lies. Were told rug shipped by jet from India to US Customs 12⁄31. we would have mid January. Now end of month(1/’14). Norman Carpet One does nada. Now told our rug is still in India was not on jet. There is no paper work, paper trail, emails– or anything backing up Sonny’s promises.

My parents needed to replace the raggedy 30-year-old carpet on the front staircase so they could sell their house. They were resistant due to the expected cost and what they considered the ridiculousness of «staging» a house for the market, or even making needed updates.(Yes, these people are trapped in their memories of how it was to sell a house in the 1970s.) Norman Carpet to the rescue. Everyone I dealt with was professional and offered top-notch service, from Walter Bechtold in the Conshohocken warehouse(where we chose samples) to Susan Sullivan(the rep who coordinated our order) to the two installers(Steve and a young man whose name I didn’t get). When we discovered that we needed to get the job moved up a day or two so that potential buyers could see the house, Susan stepped up and pushed the job through scheduling on short notice, for which we are eternally grateful. The installers arrived on time(in fact, an hour early) and got the job done within a few hours. Steve and his partner were extraordinarily polite and friendly and did a good job. The new carpet looks miles better than the old carpet, and, most important to us, was affordable… to the point where my parents now wish they’d been less resistant and had gotten more than the staircase done. Yay, Norman Carpet One.

I wish I read the review above before we went to Normans. We had a very similar experience. The sale’s person was very helpful in picking out our two area rugs, and she is the first person to tell you so… that is annoying,…We recieved the first carpet before Thanksgivng as planned, then it went down hill from there. It is understandable when things get delayed, but our sale’s person down right lied to us time and again, and until I made a huge stink, I couldn’t even talk to anyone else in the company. Once we got to Norman himself, low and behold our carpet was delived… better late then never… Great carpets, terrible service…

Norman Carpet One has a great selection of carpets and flooring. It;s a real shame their their sales staff isn’t up to their offerings. I was really rooting for them, but instead, I found lost in the maze. You have to stay on top of them to make sure things get finished and jobs are followed through. I purchased several large items from this store and I was surprised that after the sale was made, I was treated cursorily and dismissed as an afterthought. The installation department is incredibly hard to reach and the sales staff is very territorial and won’t let you just get a simple quote from anyone on staff. Its always«leave a message»…that’s because no one else will or can help you. This company is not integrated. Furthermore, some of the sales staff seem pretty grumpy. Yes, I know they work on commission… but do they have to be so obvious about it? However, Adam in fine carpets is excellent, very helpful, pleasant and bends over backwards to help you find what you need. He will come to your house with a carpet, he will email you prospective carpets before you come in. Five stars for Adam. Two stars for the store. Update: I had flooding in my basement, unrelated to Normans. They said they would come out and help me remove my flooring so the waterproofing guys could come in. They said they would do it at cost, which I appreciate. But I’ve made three calls to them and it still hasn’t happened. Sigh!!! I also went in to the store again, and the mood of the staff was better. Did they read this Unilocal review, or was it just better weather? Maybe 2.25 stars now.
