My wife and I used FoodSource to cater our family barbecue(32 people + kids) this weekend. Edward Rojewski(Catering Manager for Bryn Mawr, PA) and his team were fantastic. I worked directly with Ed to create the menu and he personally delivered the food, helped set-up and provided instructions on how to finish the preparation. Ed and his team cooked the baby back ribs, half chickens(both dry rubbed and perfectly cooked) and barbecue brisket and delivered everything warm. All we needed to do was put the ribs and chicken on the grill, coat with one of the sauces we selected and let it get a glaze(2 – 3 minutes). This was a great option and I highly recommend it — we were able to really enjoy our guests, but still did a little of the work. People selected their sauce and were treated with some great food. We also ordered Cajun corn sauté, brown butter corn and cornbread — all delicious and all went into chafing dishes supplied by foodsource. Everyone raved about the food and we had enough left over to provide each person a small to-go bag. Nothing beats reheating this kind of food the next day. We will certainly do this again — it’s well worth the expense.

I didn’t end up buying anything here because it was too pricey, but they have some great stuff. Great customer service if you need any special items, they were great with helping me track down a certain cheese they couldn’t get a hold of through their own store.

I come out of my way to go to FoodSource for only one reason — the pretzel sandwiches… in particular, I think it’s the Rosemont that has turkey, havarti, roasted red peppers and more on this great pretzel bread. Memorable and worth the trip! Beyond that, I find that the people who work here are super nice and helpful — always giving you a little more on your sandwich or offering you tastes — there’s no «snooty» factor at all — it’s almost like they’re thankful you’re shopping there? Crazy concept… I know! And if you’re comparing this to the worst Whole Foods in the franchise down the road in Wynnewood, there’s no comparison.

This is a high-end grocery store, but offers quality organic meat and seafood that isn’t found at Whole Foods. I was able to get snow crab pre-cracked cocktail claws and organic broccoli rabe and sage turkey sausage(yum). I used to come here after school back when I was still in HS(oh the good old days) to get prepared foods, like the organic roasted chocken, meatloaf, and semi-prepared foods like sausage, fresh fish, and fresh uncooked pasta(linguine and angel hair to toss with garlic, parmesan, romano, sundried tomatoes, and olive oil at home) for making dinner in less than 20 min(hey, I had a lot of homework and my parents unfortunately run the risk of accidentally setting the kitchen on fire because they are that unskilled at cooking). It’s very convenient for those of us(aka my family) who live to eat but don’t always have the time to cook. Service was always very excellent and helpful. Minus 1 star for the prices, though. I would just get a few select items here, and buy the bulk of my grocery items at the larger chains.

Food Source is great for specialty items that you won’t find at the neighboring(crappy) Acme or further up the road at Genuardi’s. If anyone knows Citarella in New York(or Gourmet Garage or Jefferson Market), it’s kind of like that – similar to Carlino’s in Ardmore(but bigger and less Italian-specific). The cheese selection is great. I just had a melt-in-my-mouth Roquefort from them last night that was heaven. There’s a few different counters: seafood, bakery, prepared meals, prepackaged sushi, meat, cheese… It’s expensive but sometimes you just need to grab some harissa or dandelion greens.

Not as useful as Trader Joe’s for everyday food, but good gourmet food – great premade salads, fancy desserts etc. And when my mom recently broke her arm, they were willing to deliver an emergency care package of supplies, which was a lifesaver. Thanks Foodsource!

This can be a good food market to go to. picture a slightly trendier version of Whole Foods that’s a little smaller and you would be right on the mark. It can be on the pricey side, so as Lauren H. says it’s a better place to go to if your catering an event and are looking to go all out for it. but it’s also a good place to go if your looking to treat yourself to something special. the food can be fantastic. It comes in at a close third when you compare it to Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods(which is probably why there isn’t as many here). but it’s still has a great variety that makes it worth checking out. it also has a separate floral boutique that is a really good place to pick up flowers.

Sometimes I come here just to stare at the bakery display and smell the aroma of perfectly roasted chicken. I’m sure this creeps out all of the Main Line stepford wives. Food Source is ridiculously overpriced for everyday grocery shopping. If you’re looking for organic basics, head over to Trader Joe’s in Ardmore. However, if you have a truly special event, Food Source catering is worth the price. For a friend’s birthday, I had the most delicious dark chocolate cake, encased in a dark chocolate shell and topped off with mocha and white chocolate shavings. I was a whole new woman after that culinary experience.
