We didn’t try any food but it looked really good. The beer was good, especially the dunkel monk and the citrus one. The service was great and the people were very friendly but the best part was the venue. It’s inside of an old Catholic Church, definitely the coolest venue I’ve ever seen and the outdoor seating was beautiful and relaxing. A must see spot for anyone near the area it was worth the drive!

I had a pretty good time here. I loved the décor, especially the little irreverent details. Let’s just say my very Catholic mother would probably be uncomfortable here.
I’m rating the food 4 stars and the beer 2 stars. Additionally, I thought the food was kinda pricey for the location. Those were prices I wouldn’t bat an eye at in a big city but maybe a little much for rural Ohio. Not a huge complaint, though.
I sampled a few different starters, including a charcuterie plate that was pretty legit. Except for these weird pickles that were spicy and bitter and just unspeakably horrendous. I spent a good part of the night trying to get that taste out of my mouth. I wasn’t super hungry and I hadn’t been planning on paying Fancy Dinner prices so I stuck with a beet salad. It was really good! And to be fair on the price note, it was quite a hearty portion, mostly composed of mixed greens, red and golden beets, mandarin slices.
A couple of folks in our party tried to order the bison burger but were told that the grill was closed for the night. They later expressed regret that they hadn’t been told of the closure time at the beginning of the night. Service was a little slow.
As for the beers, there was really just nothing remarkable about them. I don’t even remember what I had — they were that forgettable. I think one was a brown ale. Oh! I am pretty sure my SO had a stout or porter that was pretty good. Otherwise… I got nothing.
I’m not in Bryan often (scarily enough, I spend most of my visits to NW Ohio in even less populated parts of of Williams county) but I would definitely come back. I would probably lean toward ordering smaller plates and sharing.
Overall, definitely a fun spot to hang out.

Food was 5 stars. Beer was 2 stars. The old church was 5 stars. Be sure to wonder around & check out the crypt room! Owner showed us around, he is 5 stars for sure!

Very unique restaurant somewhere I would never expect. Other reviews describe the unique interior and overall theme very well so I won’t repeat. The food was unusual, local, very well prepared and overall excellent. I had a duck pot pie that could not be improved in any way. I had two of their beers and they were excellent. Service was good and friendly. Overall I found the menu to be well balanced with something for everyone.
Why only four stars you ask? In a word — seating. I ended up sitting on a bench which was uncomfortable when trying to enjoy a meal. There were real chairs elsewhere but somehow I couldn’t get one. That’s it — the only thing wrong — don’t sit on one of the benchs, get a chair, use one of booth type seating areas, but don’t sit on the bench’s — they are hard, they don’t have backs and unless your are very young and in great shape they get uncomfortable after 15 – 20 minutes.
If you happen to find yourself in Bryan OH — go here, enjoy the food and the house brewed beers, you won’t regret it in the slightest.

This is my first time at this brewery pub. The food is very good. The wait staff here is very polite and courteous. The bison burger and bison pâté are very good! Make sure you stop by the outdoor garden before leaving.

The food was just ok. I had the $ 25 ribeye. It was very thin and no where near worth the price. Also the Oktoberfest beer was horrible. I threw it out. Most of the other beer was ok. I might go back to get a drink and an appetizer but that is it.

I visited Father John’s on January 16, 2016. I want this restaurant to do well, but overall it was pretty disappointing.
–There is only one salad on the menu and they had run out, so no options are remotely healthy or light. They had also run out of many beers.
–4 people in our party ordered bison burgers, all asked for medium or med rare. The meat was closer to well done, over-​cooked and dry. We wanted to send it back, but had waited over an hour for our meals by that point, and were not interested in waiting longer.
— One person in our group ordered chili, but received the wrong soup. We were able to get the chili to go, which we appreciate.
The restaurant atmosphere is great and décor very interesting. I’m glad I went once to check it out, but probably won’t go back.

I wish I could give this establishment a better rating. I would give them a 5star if the old menu was still current. The food as of today is bland.

Father johns is a converted basement of a church. The décor is Thai, something very unusual for serving American based food. I have been to SE Asia and the food and décor combining would be confusing to just about any Pacific Islander and/​or visitor of Asia.
I can only describe the food as cheap, but you pay HIGH DOLLAR.
Your basically paying for the atmospheric charge the place gives off.
I used to love coming here as I’m from California and am used to fine dining.
It’s a shame this place has bombed in less then a year. What can be expected from Bryan confusion of what people call «food»
They have NO vegan options and the vegetarian options (cheese) will send you to the bathroom between dinner and desert. My friends have also said the meat is dry. Such a disappointment :(

Father John’s was recommended to me by a Bryan local while I was in town for work and it was a solid lunch. It was a beautiful summer afternoon so we sat on the gorgeous patio and enjoyed the weather, atmosphere, food & drinks. Our group had the bison burger, calamari, and pork belly fried egg sandwich which were all good. The staff was incredibly friendly and allowed us to explore the very cool building.

Great beer!. Poor service. Mediocre to poor food. The bacon wrapped asparagus consisted of 5 spears wrapped together in the middle by a single slice of bacon. The charred brussel sprouts and cauliflower were exactly that. Not a light char either. The smoked duck was served without plum sauce as specified on menu… no taste of duck, however it did taste like ham. The chocolate cake dessert resembled two round dense brownie like cakes. Too dry and far too dense. With a price tag of $ 29.00, I expected far better. My husband had a Ceasar salad. Neither of us cared for the dressing. His salmon was a piece about 2 inches by 5 inches, almost ¼th of it was stuck to the parchment paper that wrapped it. The rice must have been ok. I didn’t hear a complaint. His dessert was caramel pudding something. He said that was very good. The price of his salmon dinner was $ 30.00. For a total of $ 106.00 all said and done. We will not be returning to this restaurant nor will we recommend it to anyone. A very disappointing outing. — On a side note, the couple that we met there was equally disappointed!

Atmosphere is unique and worth the visit. I had shrimp and sea scallops. It was good. Maybe a little pricey considering no bread or salad. Tried a couple beers. Hell’s Bells was my favorite. Key Lime Parfait for dessert was very good. Lots of bison burgers coming out of the kitchen. That will be our next visit.

The unique atmosphere, and of course the beer, make this a gem of a restaurant. Loved all the rooms and nooks and crannies as well as the rough hewn benches and chairs. The salmon and lobster risotto was very good. For the price tag, would have liked to have seen a salad or bread included. Highly recommend the crème brûlée for dessert!

Decent beers, pretty good food, ok service but bartenders are great — interestingly enough with craft cocktails.

What an amazing atmosphere! The staff graciously gave us a tour that was informative & interesting. Request a certain room (I liked the Buddha room where you could sit on the floor!). Drinks were great– I’m not a beer fan so I chose an old fashioned that I had them make with whiskey instead of bourbon. It was delicious– the muddled cherries & orange were so good. The lobster mac & cheese was rich & satisfying. The bison burger was a bit gamey for my liking but I’ve never had bison so I suppose that’s normal! I highly recommend the ice cream for dessert– the blueberry was rich & creamy!

Been to Father Johns 4 – 5 times now, and while the place is still visually interesting, just can’t recommend it to others anymore due to our last visit.
First, they have started serving most of their beers in 12 oz glasses instead of pints. On top of that, one of their IPA’s was now $ 8 a 12 oz glass. Just not worth it.
Secondly, their food menu seems much less interesting than it used to be. We had calamari, which was nothing special, and the wings which were only slightly better. Nothing else really caught our eye.
The icing on the cake was (pun intended) when we asked for dessert for carry-​out. Our server informed us that there might be a couple of slices of chocolate cake left. Great ! We ordered 2 pieces to go. When we received our bill we found the cake was $ 13 a slice. $ 26 for 2 pieces of cake !! Ridiculous. In their defense the cake was good, and they were decent sized pieces, but $ 26 dollars for a couple pieces of cake is just absurd !!
Due to the shrinking,$ 8 beers, skimpy menu, and extremely pricey desserts, it will be some time before we return. Too bad, used to love the place.

Father John’s is a very cool place. It has an awesome theme that is so well executed. The first thing that I will mention is that is a little confusing how to get into the restaurant once you enter the church. When you walk in the main entrance, the sanctuary is right there, so we strolled through. It is a traditional catholic sanctuary with some design twists. Apparently, they have entertainment in this area some weekends, which would be fun to experience. (They are not Christian acts. For those concerned that this restaurant would be conservative based on the name, this place is far from holy, and I mean that in a good way). So now, to get to the restaurant. You must take the stairs down to the basement, which leads you to a closed door that says «Primary». I will note, my husband thought it is was obvious how to enter, but I noticed some other people mentioned the confusion in their reviews as well.
We made reservations and had a table right outside the kitchen, which is normally not a great table due to the foot traffic, so I would have preferred a better table. Our server greeted us promptly and was very good. She explained the menu well. She gave us great explanations of the restaurant, brewery and outdoor garden areas that you can self tour.
We love beer, and they only serve their own, so we tried the flight with all 16 of their beers. They are numbered and to be drank in a specific order. You are given a tasting card, similar to a wine tasting, to make notes. All the beer but one was amazing… I mean really really good! The gluten free beer, which was the last one tasted was not that great, I would’ve preferred to not finish with it. All the descriptions of the beers were on point, with some very unique flavors such as jalapeño. We had the Brussels Sprouts and Truffle Parm Fries as appetizers with our beer. Both were good, but the Brussels Sprouts, which are apparently a highlight dish, were underseasoned. As our main course, I chose the Pork Chop with the Apricot/​Pistachio chutney. The pork chop was a beautiful bone in cut and well cooked but underseasoned. My husband ordered a bison burger with fried pickle and pork belly. All of the bison they serve comes from a bison ranch in from Northeast Indiana. So the burger was moist and well cooked, but again no flavor! The fried pickles had no breading and the pork belly was floppy and tastless. The best part of the food portion of our dinner was the Kettle Corn Ice Cream. It was delicious and fun to eat! The ice cream was almost overturned, but I can let that slide based on the delicious flavor.
Overall, we really enjoyed our experience. I would love to give this place 5 stars, but the food portion of our dinner needed some finesse. When we go back, we plan to enjoy the beer, appetizers, atmosphere, and friendly service but probably not plan for a full meal.

I have to down grade my rating from previous post.
It still is a unique dining experience. However, recently went for brunch and had several disappointments. We waited for probably 40 minutes to get our entrees and there wasn’t that many people in the restaurant. To make matters worse, I was brought something other than what I ordered.
The dishes all tend to be dark and heavy much like the atmosphere in the basement of the church. To be successful in the long run, the service needs to improve and the entrees need more life.

Fantastic. Beers were great, but not over the top/​hit you in the face. We had three samplers (at $ 5 each — total bargain!), so we sampled everything on tap. Only one was completely undrinkable, but we’re pretty beer snobby… We finished all but one of our 16 samples and got a growler to go. So, 4 stars for the beer.
Our food was awesome, too. I imagine it’s pricey for the area, but we thought it was reasonable for the quality. 4 stars also for the food
Service was very friendly and fast, but there were only a handful of people there. So, I don’t know what it’s like when busy, but 5 stars for service.
Overall, you see I gave five stars. Mostly because it was such a surprise to run into a place like this in a sleepy little Ohio town, and the ambiance of the establishment (the basement of a historic church) was totally cool.

The food is very unique and delightful. The menu changes daily but there is almost always a burger or bison steak as the owner also owns a bison farm. There are also many local brews that are fun to try. I like that they experiment with their beers and food. Dinner is very busy so you’ll want reservations. Also they have brunch Saturdays and the Chicken and Waffles was so good!!!
They have meat, seafood, and vegetarian options and seem to be willing to cater to dietary needs.
Service can sometimes be slow but the building is cool to just sit and look at. It’s in the basement of an old church so lots of character. Definitely worth stopping by.
