Candlewood Suites College Station At University

Wonderful hotel. Staff is very helpful. We had a studio suite (one room, queen bed, recliner, kitchen). The room was quiet and comfy. Full size fridge, two burner stove and microwave if you want to cook. I booked online, and got a room with a huge shower. I preferred a bath, and they quickly moved me to a room with a bath instead. Plenty of hot water. The bed was Tempurpedic with a pillow top and extremely comfy. Has Bluray player and movies, as well as board games, toasters and blenders downstairs if you want to borrow them. Quiet place, and spotless. Kudos. We will be staying again.

This is a new hotel, however, please be aware that they WILL overcharge you. They state a pet fee of $ 75.00 on their website, but they do not tell you that it is 75.00 PER pet. We specifically told them we were bringing dogs as we were in town for an Agility trial. They mentioned NOTHING about a pet fee when the reservation was made through the hotel directly. Once we arrived and checked in, no mention was made about a pet fee. Only when they saw we were walking dogs did they mention this. We agreed to the 75.00 fee, and upon checking out they charged us 75.00 for each of the 4 dogs we had with us. This is out of line and we were told that the manager actually viewed us on a recording walking the 4 dogs and decided to charge us for each pet. We were only there for 2 nights and our dogs are well behaved. There was no manager available to discuss this with, and they never did return our calls. There was only 1 other guest at this hotel when we were there, and I overheard them when they were checking out that their charges were not correct either. I’m not sure if the manager just doesn’t know the business, or has no clue about customer service. The only saving grace was that the desk staff were very nice. We won’t be back to this candlewood and we have stayed at these all over the country. Might have to rethink our hotels for the future due to this unfortunate incident. Our pets are our family members and we would never think to leave them behind. We are very responsible with them when we travel.
A call to the corporate office only offered to refund half of the fees they charged. We felt this was unacceptable. Very poor customer service.
