Specialties

Rito’s Bakery and Deli is celebrating 50 years in business. We specialize in cakes for all occasions, featuring wedding cakes from elegant to novelty — Your imagination is our inspiration. We make a variety of cake flavors and mousse fillings. The «Cassata Cake,» our most popular style, is made with sponge cake, vanilla custard and our own strawberry filling. We make a variety of Italian and European pastries such as cannoli, almond paste cookies, and buttermilk «Angel Wings» (crispy pastry rolled in powdered sugar). Our crowd-pleasing «Gigantic Cannoli”– a large cannoli shell stuffed with 3 dozen small cannoli– was recently featured on the Food Network. Our deli features prime Italian cured meats like prosciutto, capicolla, and mortadella, as well as imported cheeses and a variety of deli salads. We sell imported dry goods and our own house-made pasta sauce is available for purchase as well. You can stop in for a freshly made sandwich on our house-baked bread and dine in a casual atmosphere. We make great deli platters and Sicilian-style pizza for all of your party needs. Our Brunswick location has a Mezzanine area available for small gatherings and meetings. We also offer full-service catering.

History

Established in 1965.

Our Story

Rito’s Italian Bakery & Imported Foods was founded by Santo Rito, with the help and support of his sister Maria Belfiore, and his wife Maria Rito. Santo came to America from the small town of Riposto, in Catania, Sicily in 1955. He developed his trade as an apprentice in the most distinguished pasticcerias of Taormina, which is a famous tourist location in Sicily.

Santo introduced the concepts of good Sicilian baking to the west side of Cleveland in the form of Rito’s Italian Bakery in 1965.

Since then business has expanded and Rito’s Bakery moved to the suburbs of Cleveland in Parma and Brunswick. Both stores are landmarks of one of the most prestigious bakeries in Cleveland.
