Secretary of State

Although reluctant to share this gem of a place… thats what the Unilocal community is all about.
So on 8−15−14, I needed to update some SOS stuff, I was at 23 & Schoennherr
But that endless gauntlet of people & cars… scared me away… far away
9 minutes north to 32 & Vandyke
walked in at 11:22
3 clerks all ready & waiting to help us \no numbers to draw
no bullpen to sit & wait
And the 1 star deduction, no restroom in the middle of nowhere
C’mon even 19 & Vandyke has a restroom
So we changed our license address, car registration, plates, voters registration, all in less than a 10 minute visit

I’ve had the pleasure of living within walking distance of this locale for the past 17 years (give or take) and honestly, I’ll probably make a trip out here when it’s time to get my license renewed next year. Rarely ever is there a line, and the employees have always been super. They do not take Visa, which is a pain, but now that I know this, it’s not that much of an inconvenience. Everyone dreads the SOS, but EVERYBODY’s gotta go… so go here… or don’t…haha…yeah…don’t…no don’t go here… it’s bad… it’s very bad. ;-)

Erik M. Is high as a kite! He just gave this Secretary of State a primo review because he has a thing for ”older ladies who are well in well in the throws of menopause so you don’t have to worry about getting their barren wombs soiled with seed”. If you find yourself at the Secretary of State and see a curly haired beady eyed middle-​aged man… RUN!

I just left the Flint SOS office. Once I received my number, I was asked how I would be paying. I said «with my debit card». I was told SOS does not accept VISA. My questions is… how in the heck do you know that BEFORE you go to the office??? It is not posted anywhere in the building nor on the printed license renewal form.

It’s definitely a hike to get out to this office, but it’s worth it in the end.
I was renewing my license and went to the Crooks SOS location and was pissed off by both the wait time and the rude service, so I said screw it and drove out to Romeo, having been there 10 years ago.
I walked in, and grabbed a number. Grabbing a number at an SOS office is always a terrible thing. You sit there with this slip in your hand, waiting to be called as if I’m buying deli meat. However, I only ended up waiting about 5 minutes. The woman who helped me was very nice and we ended up joking around by the time it was over.
If I had to rate my new photo, I’d give it a 1 star. My face looks terrible in two-​dimensions. Still, not their fault, more my parents’ fault.
One big thing: THEY DO NOT ACCEPT VISA! I should call Morgan Freeman to fix that. They have an ATM that charges $ 2 if you don’t have MasterCard or AmericanExpress.
All in all, I’m perfectly happy to drive an extra 45 minutes through the pleasantness of Romeo to get my Sec of State on than have to deal with the stereotypical SOS offices near me.
