Great job and was able to rebuild my transmission quickly and on budget. Made it in and out on 48 hours (lucky timing) but he communication was great! Too many times I’ve dropped off a car to be worked on and heard nothing. Not here… these guys seem to take customer service seriously.

Absolutely the worst place to bring your car. I brought in my car because it was overheating after whenever I drove more than 30 – 45 minutes. They called me back and told me that the problem was caused by a cracked radiator and that a wire on the alternator was sparking. The service advisor told me that it would cost $ 700 – 800 (I don’t recall exact amount) to fix the wire and the overheating problem. I agreed to the repairs and the next day I picked up my car and drove around for the next few days without incident but the first time I drove it over 45 minutes the car over heated again only this time It didn’t just overheat this time it blew the engine. When I called back to complain about this the service advisor hung up on me. I had the car towed back to the shop to fix it. They told me that the problem was an intake manifold gasket had blown and that the problem was unrelated to the repair. Intake manifold gaskets blow as a result of overheating and if the repair had been done properly I can see no way that it would have blown out. The shop refused to pay for the damages to my car or for the tow in to the shop They did however try to charge me $ 3000.00 to repair the blown head gasket caused by the mechanic not fixing the overheating problem correctly. Upon reading my bill I discovered that the alternator wire had not been repaired but the whole unit had been replaced at my expense. This angered me even further because the part had a lifetime warranty and I could have replaced it for free. When I brought this up the advisor said to me «oh now your just making stuff up» Not kidding. When I asked to see the old part they refused to show it to me. I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life. One of my greatest regrets is that I did not sue them for what they did to me. There is no doubt in my mind that I would still be driving that car today if the repair had been done correctly. If you have a repair done by these people pray nothing goes wrong because they will probably leave you out to dry the way they did to me.

I had a great experience with this place. The owner, Leonard, was very nice and fixed my car up nicely. I had my transmission rebuilt. My car was running horribly and I needed either a new car, or a transmission. I met with Leonard and he put me at ease through the whole process. There was a small issue and I didn’t get my car back as fast as I had planned, bur he kept me constantly updated and when I picked my car up he had washed it and it was clean! I actually brought my car back in today (he had told me to come back in after a few hundred miles to check for leaks, and to make sure my transmission was running well) and he looked it over and drove it around and seemed very confident in my car’s new ability (and his work)…and I will have to add that my car now drives like a brand new car. I am so happy. I will continue to use Leonard and his services here. I will also continue to recommend this place to people as well. Thank you guys!!!

My 1999 4Runner recently started having issues shifting gears. Plus, shifting in and out of 4-​wheel drive was becoming a challenge. I went to Active Transmission & Gear because they had a great review and are a local small business. Leonard, who owns the shop, is an extremely nice and honest. They took care of my transmission and did a great job. I highly recommend them if you have the need.

The most horrible service I have ever had. My family had to sue him for not fixing my car’s transmission (even though he charged us five thousand dollars). We won the case two years ago and have yet to be paid by him. Do not trust this company.

These guys know there stuff. From an oil change to a transmission, from a brake job to a new engine, these are your guys!

Poor communication. We were referred by another mechanic because they specialize in transmissions. They were friendly at first but they never gave us an update and kept saying it would be done but at the end of each day it wasn’t. It turns out they couldn’t figure out what the problem was. When we said that we needed the car by a specific time (more than a week after they first said it would be done) one employee was condescending and rude. We ended up taking the car back unfixed and it drove much worse. After taking the vehicle to a dealer the shop had installed some sensors incorrectly which caused the car to drive poorly. Overall poor customer service.
