Who Shot Rock & Roll @ Brooklyn Museum

First off: I’m a big, big dork for this kind of stuff, so I’m probably biased.
Overall, it was a well-​curated exhibit. There was a lot of things I wouldn’t have thought of including (I didn’t think I’d like the Grace Jones exhibit as much as I did, for example). And the photos were truly compelling –I especially enjoyed the interactive aspect where you could call in for certain photos and hear additional recorded stories directly from the photographer.
I do think some of the video art exhibits could have been kicked up a notch. For one example (disclaimer: I’m a Bowie supahfan, so my standards are probably higher than most), I would have loved to have seen an obscure Bowie video clip being shown as opposed to the «Life on Mars» video, which while very cool, is widely available on his DVD music video collection. If I’m in a museum… show me something I can’t see elsewhere, right?
For the most part, though, I wish it was a permanent exhibition… I’d love to bring out-​of-​towners to check this out.

Ahhh well, maybe in my next life?
A fun exhibit, and on a weekday morning, I practically had the show to myself!
