We love LOVE this place. The hangar steak and greens(we do double greens) is out of sight. Burger is awesome. Seafood stew is tasty and hearty. Desserts are insanely good. Fun place to come grab a drink too. The sunlight in the summer makes it a perfect day drinks place. Whiskey selection is good too! Staff is great and when something goes wrong, management jumps to resolve. We’re big fans of this and their other location.

What can I say about Walter’s that hasn’t already been said? I walked in high, I walked out drunk. Kisses to Charlie.

Update! Finally got back here for dinner. Split the duck buns(tasted like chicken salad sandwiches somehow– but delicious regardless) and the pork rib bar snack thing(which was BOMB) for appetizer. Also sipped on the«gold rush» cocktail(whiskey, honey, lemon) which was delicious and ice cold. For dinner I had the fried catfish with slaw & some type of chipotle mayo dip, yum, with a side of the Brussel sprouts(they were decent but had a ton of pickled red onion slivers in there– not my favorite thing ever. Wanted more savory). My friend ordered the burger with fries and more or less cleaned his plate. Ambience: dark, candlelight, great service, and great music(90s hip hop mostly) playing softly in the background. This place genuinely doesn’t disappoint(was packed on a MONDAY night at like 8pm) and I will be back again and again. Salute, Walter’s!

Came here for a quick burger with my family. Very good! Nice décor. My family was really happy we found it. It seems like it is a very popular brunch spot. I’ve tried to get in once but the lines were too long. I hope to go back and try more of their food.

The food was pretty good. Went here with my girlfriend, she got the fried chicken and I chose to order a rib-eye that was off the Specials Menu. So, overall the night went very well until I got the bill. Here is the breakdown of it: Wings– $ 5 Salad– $ 12 Fried Chicken– $ 13 Brace yourself… Rib-eye– $ 57.00. Should I have asked about the price upon inquiring about it? Yes. However, shouldn’t the waitress have informed me that this dish was now almost $ 30.00 more than the most expensive dish on the menu? I think so. Should the restaurant have posted that price somewhere? Yes!

An enjoyable meal in a pleasant neighborhood restaurant. The cocktails and food are well prepared. Nothing was spectacular, but nothing was disappointing. A good option for a pre-show dinner and a short walk to BAM.

My wife and a friend sat down for dinner around 6 on a Saturday night. Since the restaurant features cocktails and oysters and it was relatively early, I thought it would be appropriate to order drinks and food as we desired them as opposed to ordering more traditionally. Unfortunately, the passive aggressive behavior of the server indicated otherwise. Over the course of an hour and 15 minutes we spent $ 120 dollars on drinks and food, but the fact that we didn’t follow the social norms of ordering led the server to place salt and pepper on our table, then«realize her mistake» place it on our neighbors table and comment«oh– they’re not even eating.» We endured painfully fake smiles, and the rather obvious complaints to the manager who seemed to be encouraging the gossipy, passive aggressive vibe. On one of the harassingly frequent visits to our table to «check in» my wife touched the server on the arm and asked«is everything okay.» «Oh! Of course! Of course!» This attempt at an adult intervention failed and sent the server back to the manager for more glances and comments. Overall, I found the behavior of both the server and the manager to be bizarrely irrational. There was no one waiting for our table, we were polite and direct, and simply wanted to order as we felt the need to drink or eat. Perhaps Walter’s should lay down some linen tablecloths and hire old-timey, mustachioed cartoon servers who might more clearly enforce the social norms of the restaurant. If I know there are rules, I will gladly follow them. But this kind of irrational, passive aggressive behavior is not fitting an adult in any setting. I shouldn’t have to «take the high road» with a server and we still left a good tip, but I definitely wouldn’t encourage any friends to eat there and I’ve been dining on Dekalb for at least 15 years.

Had an awesome lunch here today! Ordered the BLAT along with a Pomegranate Lemonade. BLAT was their take on BLT + Avocado and was amazing. The bacon was delicious, smoked to perfection, and had a rich flavor rare in a traditional BLT. Fries that came with it were amazing, skinny, crispy and tasty. Pomegranate Lemonade was the real deal, tasted fresh, tart, and refreshing. Atmosphere of this place was super cute, trendy, and clean! Even the bathroom smelled nice thanks to a cute little candle. Love the weird tiling on the floors and the mismatched chairs throughout the place. Bar area looked interesting and offbeat as well. Will definitely be back!

I do enjoy grabbing a dinner, quick snack, or breakfast here at Walters when I visit New York. The food is absolutely delicious! Their fried chicken is the best I have ever had! Not really a fan of the eggs benedict, even though my sister loves it. I’d come here for the oysters anyday. They have some delicious deviled eggs as well. This place has a Speak Easy/Prohibition feel to it with the decoration, and I’ve never been disappointed with the customer service, behind the bar r at the tables. Their customer service is beyond none, almost as good as their food! The waiters and the bartenders always have a great recommendation or make an amazing drink for us. The only thing that prevents me from giving them a five star, is I just feel like the space is so cramped. It’s so popular here that they want to seat as many people instead of making them wait(which I absolutely love) but it just means you are suffering elbow space and often conversation with your neighbors. Other than that you should definitely head to Walters! If you don’t you are missing out on a truly amazing experience both culinary and personal.

The food just isn’t special. I’m sitting across from my partner who ordered eggs Benedict and the eggs have 0 runny yolk, they’re almost completely hard boiled. I got the French toast and the fruit isn’t fresh. Interior is great and staff is warm and friendly but food just is not good.

Came here with my daughter last November(’14). Don’t remember what I ate but it was good. I do remember the Pimms Cup — delicious. And meeting Ted from«Queer Eye» & Food Network. Such a gracious person. Will definitely eat here again next visit to NYC. BTW I moved to LA last month &NYC beats it hands down. California is the land of the rude; the Capitol being Santa Barbara.

Excellent food and service. The atmosphere is perfect. We had the raw clams, artichoke dip to start. For entrees, the Fisherman stew(delicious and a little spicy) and the clam linguine(which i’m jealous my girlfriend had). Desert, the banana bread. It was a great night all in all despite the pathetic loser next to us who was so rude to our waitress(Lauren was perfect the whole night). But what more can you expect from a 35 year old dressed like a homeless teenager and being the only guy in the place wearing a fitted hat, a BOSTON fitted hat.

I really enjoyed my dinner I had here the other night. My bf and I are new to the area and decided to give this place a try. I had the spicy fisherman stew and he had the pork chop. Both were really good. We also tried some speciality cocktails and ended dinner with key lime pie. Everything was really good. In plan on trying this place for brunch next.

First brunch then dinner Mini muffins served with brunch. Chicken and waffles is superb! The chicken is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Dip in the syrup or hot sauce. Waffles are pillowy. My cucumber mint lemonade was more sour than cucumber of mint. Artichoke dip is cheesy with a tiny little kick toast points are crispy and dip helps it all become gooey goodness. Duck buns are more with shredded meat but still warm and delish. Husband burger was plump and moist but outside was just a tad burnt. Fries are always excellent Chocolate banana bread pudding was warm, soft, moist, and delicious!

I really wish I could rate Walter’s higher because the Bartender provided excellent service. We went there a few weeks ago because I was craving oysters and have heard that Walter’s is the spot, in our local area, for oysters. Apparently oysters are their specialty. We ordered a round of a dozen oysters — with all varieties to taste — and the pinot blanc wine — which was a nice pairing. We quickly realized that our favorite oysters were from the East Coast(From Virginia/Maryland area specifically). After that we ordered the Artichoke Dip — which was SO horrendous. That is why I cannot give Walter’s a higher rating. Basically, the dish tastes like small artichoke bits(presumably de-frozen) surrounded with oily jack cheese that was microwaved. My spouse and I took one bite and looked at each other in shock. I think this is because we frequent Freeman’s Restaurant in LES(in Freeman’s Alley) and their artichoke dip is killer, unbelievable. So, we just could not believe the poor quality and ingredients that were used at Walter’s. My spouse uttered, «So they basically took artichoke, a bunch of jack cheese and put it in the microwave… We could have done this». I concur with the assessment. Conclusion: The oysters were good, but you can get the *same* East Coast oysters on Happy Hour at the Mermaid Inn for $ 1 each(!). So, next time I want oysters I will make the logical decision to eat at a locale where the oysters do not break the bank and the other menu items are also good, not Walter’s.

Brunch? Yes. Brunch cocktails? Yes. Park view? Yes, sorta. A small, off the tip off Forte Green park bistro-esque restaurant. Nice, consistent service with a water bottle placed on your table for constant hydration. The French toast is of the brioche variety and typically comes with seasonal fruit — big yum! Sausage, as a side, is worth the 5 duckets they’ll set you back –crispy links! If you’re into the eggs poached try the eggs Benedict with the smoked salmon. Filling and perfectly cooked eggs producing maximum runniness for the skinny English muffins sleeping below. An all around great spot to stop by after a weekend stroll.

Came a few weeks ago for a Sunday early dinner. The place was packed but the hostess and bartender kept an eye out for seats at the bar. Me and my guest were seated within 15 minutes of entering the place. The service was great. I had the deep fried pulled pork fritters as my appetizer and pan seared catfish and red cabbage for my entrée. I wasn’t a fan of the fritters as they were a bit bland and a bit too much for me to eat. The catfish was marinated perfectly and was delicious. I will definitely be back.

I found this place doing one of my usual searches on Unilocal.I was in the mood for brunch and since it’s right in Brooklyn, I gave it a try. Came with a friend. We both ordered the fried chicken and waffles. All I have to say is that God bless the hands and mind for the creation of this dish. I have had my few shares of fried chicken. The chicken was so succulent. Moist just the right crisp. The waffles, aahhh, so good especially with the butter. I had to slow down just so I didn’t finish it fast. Let’s just say after leaving, I still had the taste for it even after a week of eating there. It’s a MUSTGO!!!

As a good friend once told me, you can really make a meal at Walter’s what you want — there are options to stay on the cheaper side or you can ball out with fancy cocktails, oysters, and steak. We went with the latter. For dinner, I highly recommend the steak. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well — a bonus is that it is served over a huge plate of salad and crisp french fries with a tangy chimichurri sauce and a delicious horseradish sauce. I wish I could eat this steak every night. It’s that awesome. I’ve been for weekend brunch, as well, and enjoyed it just as much. The blackened catfish and cabbage slaw on a kaiser roll is delicious and dripping with spicy tartar sauce. Also good is the shakshuka and the eggs benedict. I really do not think you can go wrong at Walter’s. Great food, a well-decorated and lovely setting and nice service. I’ve always enjoyed it and never had any problems!
