Migrated from Trinidad in the early 90’s. Started working as a dishwasher in an unknown restaurant. Learnt the methods of cooking authentic trini food. Ten years later married a Jamaican chef. That is how it all started

I was not happy with my last visit, first time was nice, good food and some beers. This time food still good but DONT tell them your gunna eat there cause they will charge you for a large dinner and cut your portion down. Asked about it and was looked at like I was out of order for doing so. Go there but don’t eat in if you want a fair share of food

I had doubles for the first time and it was pretty good. I also bought other menu items just to sample their offerings and it was not bad at all. The cashier lady was rather friendly, very unusual for businesses in that part of Brooklyn. I will definitely be going back.

So before going, I saw that everyone had problems with delivery, so I visited the restaurant instead. Overall there are solid lunch specials, and the servers are nice. I got the stew chicken, Spinach Rice, Potato Salad & Carrots. Food was tasty. Also had a nice authetnic Red Solo soda. Can’t wait to go back for. Just don’t order delivery because you will be waiting years for it!

The delivery time is ridiculous. I gave them a few extra chances because things happen sometimes… but each time was worst than the previous. i was on the phone with the driver for literally 20 mins to guide him until i got extremely frustrated (no gps? No map on the phone??). He said he will have another driver deliver it. I placed my order around 7:30pm… didnt get to me until 10:15…and to make it worst. they forgot one of my orders. smh. Food is not bad at all. but the headache and wait time is not worth it.

So tropical paradise restaurant and bakery refuse to sell me a cake and it’s a bakery so as they stand there and they argue on whether or not they going to sell me the last cake … the bakery selling the last cake … one person is saying she can only sell by the slice … is $ 3 a slice the other person is saying well it’s $ 2 a slice if you want to buy by slice … I will sell you the Cake … I say no problem then she changes her mind … the cake the bakery refuses to sell ok ok

Great food at very low price, you can get a meal for $ 5.00 with a soda come one!!! That a great price, but on top of that the food is tasty! Yummy in my tummy!!!

This rating is less about the food and more about the lack of customer service. I placed an order via grubhub with this establishment. I was quoted the time of an hour. After two hours my food still had not arrived. When I inquired first via grubhub two hours later they contacted the restaurant claiming my food would be there within 5 min. Of course no such luck so I inquired directly with the restaurant. The woman who answered the phone was not very helpful. She did not understand that although I was calling from one cell phone number, the phone number on the order was a phone I had right next to me. She insisted that the driver could have been calling and then turned around because no one answered. She did, however, offer to call the delivery driver and call me back. Insert 15 – 20 min of more time. Still no food. A follow up review will be written upon the outcome.

Update: Food arrived at 10:20pm
Driver wouldn’t leave his car. Including when I got to his car door.
He had other bags on his front seat (I wonder when they ordered…)
Food is lukewarm (not surprised)
Some food is truly delicious, some is meh.
I paid too much for this.

I love visiting my grandpa in Brooklyn and Tropical Paradise Restaurant is one of many reasons why. I always come here for my curried goat, rice and peas and plantains… But the menu always changes so its almost like you’re stopping by a friends house who’s mom is cooking up something amazing in the kitchen. What’s for dinner? West Indian awesomeness, that’s what. Will be back in two weeks and this will be my first stop, maybe my 2nd stop after I say hi to grandpa. :)

I love this place so much I took the bus when my car was in the shop… yeah, it’s that good!
I have known the owners for years and I can always count on this place for great food. It’s always fresh and it’s always moving too. It gets no better than that.
I went 2 Fridays in a row and had salmon and oxtail. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the oxtail was so meaty and damn near fallin’ off the bone. The rice and peas are so damn good! And the veggie selection is crazy! No steamed cabbage, no suh! You get zucchini, carrots and broccoli… hold that! And gravy… I can’t go on!
Curry chicken, stew chicken, roti, curry crab, stew fish, curry fish, snapper, and more. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, you must stop in.
