Toys R Us

Hmmm. I hadn’t been here in years until this past Christmas season. The store was pretty ran through already by a 9 am Sunday visit. I guess this is common for many toy stores around this time, which is why I kindly offered 3 stars.
Not much to say, aside from, «go early with a plan and a backup plan in case everything you want is sold out.»

The lines! The lines are out of control with all register closed but one. Then when you look around, you see a bunch of sales associates standing around laughing and giggling with each other. Who runs this place? It is always like this at this location. Also-​twice I was overcharged for items. Had I not been paying attention, I would have been duped big time. Once I was charged twice for the same item. Genius cashier didn’t notice he had already rung it up. I got suspicious at the high total price and looked and of course– I was sent to the returns line to wait once again to get his mistake fixed. Another time, a movie that had $ 7.99 written on it rang up $ 15.99. A manager came to fix this and even apologized. Keep your eyes open at the register here!

I think this Toys R Us has gotten better from the last time I’ve been there (which was yeaaaars ago). My son had an amazing time; we got him his favorite toys for his birthday (Disney cars and Thomas and Friends). Everything was good until we got to the cashier and I had to get rid of things that made the price tag way beyond my budget, lol. But at least this is closer than the one in Manhattan (and they are closing the store in the city, too). Would definitely shop here again.

This toys r us is only acceptable due to the fact that it is convenient in terms of location. The service here is below average. Although I have spoken with some employees that have been extremely helpful, this does not override the fact that the service is bad. Upon purchasing a bike for my 10 year old I took it to this location to have it assembled, in which I was told it takes 2 – 3 days and then they would call to notify me of the completion. Almost a week later I had to call to find out the status. Upon picking up the bike, we discovered that the tire was flat, so we tried to pump it ourselves only to notice that there was something wrong with it. We brought it back to the store so that they can correct the issue and yet again I was promised the same thing…“Please give us just a few days to repair it, if we can, and we will contact you.” Here we are, now 2 weeks after the drop off, in which the store had to be contacted to find out if it was complete. As a consumer, the service is unacceptable, as it easily could’ve been a better situation had they have keep us «in the loop», but twice to have to deal with the same circumstance?! Ridiculous.

This Toys R Us is more meh than okay… not very well-​stocked, not very clean, and low on employee motivation. The best thing about it is its convenient location right off the Belt Parkway Marine Park exit. It’s not far out of my way when I just wanna go check if they have a certain DVD or videogame.

Don’t bother.
Staff were so disinterested and slow, they messed up our return and then sold us a broken product.
The parking was a nightmare and the place was filthy.

As a kid I used to love this toys ‘r’ us… I lived by the slogan «I don’t wanna grow up, cause I’m a toys ‘r’ us kid». However now I walk inside and I’m glad I grew up.
Most employees need a happy pill. Find a new job if you don’t like it here.

Worst toys r us/​babies r us ever. They never have registers open, but workers will be standing by the registers. The prices are different from their own website but multiple dollars. Then they give you an issue when you ask to price match their own website. I don’t know why even bother going here. I would so much rather go to jersey and have pleasant people at the register.

For kids, young and old alike, this chain toy store has been around for as long as I can remember.
I stopped by this location this past week to purchase some arts and crafts, i.e. crayons, play-​doh, glitter etc. It’s a large location with so many different types of toys for all ages, electronics, games, etc.
The play-​doh selection was pretty amazing. I can’t believe it. The arts and crafts area was ok, slightly disappointed that I didn’t see as much… I need to go to a real arts and crafts speciality store.
They had some pretty good sales too, was happy about that.

I know it is Christmas eve and all but come on. I was in there to pick up a gift that I ordered on line and was directed to the returns and exchange area by the first cashier I went to. I was on that line for 15 minutes until I decided to inquire about pick ups. She told me to use the machine to check in and go to the back. I wasted 20 grueling minutes of my precious time all because this cashier directed me to the wrong area. Rule of thumb. If you work at toys r us and is unsure about something, ask your supervisor or other employees. Don’t just give the customer any answer that comes to your head so I can get off your line. Thanks a lot cashier lady… other than that, the other employees were very helpful…

This location is typical of most Toys R Us locations… generally unkempt and difficult to find stuff. The staff is usually helpful (if you can find one), but the products are not always in stock. We recently went in with a birthday register and they didnt have ONE item on the list… NOT ONE. The person helping was very nice and apologetic and offered a discount coupon if we decided to purchase anything. Since there really is no other option for full toy selection, we’re kinda a captive audience with TRU. Not the worst experience, but far from the best.

I usually go to the store at caesar’s bay, but since Sandy it has been closed. So let me tell you my experience in the Flatbush Avenue store. HORRIBLE!!! Went to return an item and the cashier was not very friendly. Not even a hello. Her relations to customers SUCKS. No smile no nothing. I got my money back from the toy and not even a thank you or have a good evening. Went to buy a game for my Son and LUCKY me, I get called by the same person who refunded my money. No eye contact. No do I need anything else and once again NO THANK YOU FOR SHOPPING AT TOYS R US. Toys R Us at Flatbush Avenue store gets a BIG «F» That employee should be given a course in customer interaction.

I don’t think this Toys R Us aspires to be much. They have a nice layout and displays, but there are often toys all over the floor. Other than that, they have a lot of nice stuff and should really take care of the store more.

Good luck finding someone to help you. Wanted to purchase a bike for my daughter and realized that the employee who seemed clueless was actually the manager. Couldn’t bring myself to spend my money where I was poorly served.

Funny story about this Toys R Us is that I had one of my first driving lessons here. I still come here from here time, not for driving lessons but for getting presents for younger relatives and friends’ kids. Not a bad store, the staff is usually pretty helpful.

Its «a-​ok», because it is your usual Toys R Us store. But this place brings back memories because it is the one that I always went to as a kid. It has been sitting alone here with an empty lot right next to it for well over 20 years. Good staff that guides me to where the item is that I need. I walk into places like this and have no idea where to start. i am here buying usually Christmas gifts for younger relatives. So the staff makes me feel less stupid.
