This is your typical Chinese restaurant in Sunset Park, little Chinatown. They have great lunch specials, which are just smaller portions of their regular menu and about $ 4 per dish it’s a steal. I love my pork belly braised with preserved veggies. It’s my favorite thing to go with rice. Their take out is right in the front of the restaurant. They make a really good Roast Pig. I remember passing by about 12 am and they were still open wide for business too.

Even though I’ve never been to China, I would imagine that 8th Avenue in Sunset Park is the closest that I could come to experiencing it without actually visiting. Long the overlooked Brooklyn stepsister of Chinatown in Manhattan and Flushing in Queens, Sunset Park has certainly come in to its own in the last 15 years. That being said, the experience of choosing a Chinese restaurant to eat at can be overwhelming due to the seemingly endless choice of places, especially around 58th st. I’d like to save you some time and implore you to visit Top One. For starters, the roast meats are perfect. Get there before 8, as the locals gobble up the moist on the inside, crispy on the outside roast duck, pork, and chicken until there’s nothing left. And the prices are a throwback to the 1950’s: a generous sized portion of roast duck costs only $ 3.50. If they run out of the meats, I recommend any of the seafood entrees. I don’t think you can go wrong. Keep in mind that my rating is for food only. The décor of the restaurant is typical of most Chinese restaurants. The service is quite friendly and helpful in deciding what to eat from the large, authentic menu.
