Came here in October to record a some tracks with the band I’m in. The space is really great. Couches, refreshments, fantastic equipment, etc. Very comfortable. The roof has a great view. They had everything set up for us when we got there, and we worked with audio engineer Brian Crowe, who was super friendly and helped us get everything we wanted recorded very efficiently in the time window.
Here’s the problem: the deal we had was for a rough mix of each of the three songs we recorded and all the ProTools files. He bounced a version of each song at the end of the night before we left for us. He said we should listen to them and send feedback the next day, then he’d finish half-​recent rough mixes of each song over the course of the next couple days. What ensued was a month of email tag, «dog ate my homework”-level excuses, us showing up there several times just to figure out what was going on with our stuff, and no rough mixes.
In «The End» (heh), we got one of the three rough mixes and all the raw files. Apparently the delay was because they had a hard drive crash and had to restore backups. They didn’t say a word about that to us until we finally got our files, a MONTH after we recorded. There were a bunch of takes from some other band that didn’t even record the same day as us, and we were on our own to find a place to finish mixing.
Overall, talented engineers, but disorganized and unprofessional. I get that they have plenty of bigger acts recording there than our band, but our money is just as green. If they had finished the job (or just explained what was going on the first place!), I bet we would be really happy with the results. However, for the money we spent just to end up mixing it ourselves, we would have been better off finding somewhere else to record.
If you’re not willing to browbeat these guys into doing their job, don’t bother.

This look so promising place, as I knew it from a music event, thtat I contacted them for a private event. After a polite first answer, the folks there never replied to my enquiry, I guess they were not interesd, at least they could answer. too bad.

«NOTHING LASTS FOREVER /​NOTHING IS LOST FOREVER» (world première) my girl Saifan Shmerer choreographed/​directed/​produced and manifested this wonderful bizarre meaningful interpretive dance on our cultural obsession with the apocalypse. It involved stomping monsters, darkness, sounds, loud breathing, white dresses, two girls, body paints, and lots of paper strewn artfully and intentionally.
On to THE SPACE — the end… you are walking in Greenpoint towards the water, you cross a cobblestone road to get to Kent St and it really does feel like THE END as you go down this dead end street that hits the water and glorious skyline of NY.
Afterwards there was a party on the rooftop, some snacks and great cocktails. I thought it was someone’s apartment. The roof is especially cool because of the swank view and this spongy padding on the floor. Pro tip: don’t sit down on it while it’s still wet…

Did a video shoot there a couple weeks back. The owners were very attentive to our needs.
but make sure if you do any sound recording make sure it’s at night. There is a shop right underneath .and unless you are Ministry. You may have a problem.
Other than that. this place is a great spot
