Lately I have gotten my lunch from here and I have to say that their sandwiches are the bomb. The place it located in a hole in the wall and can be pretty hard to find if you are not a native because it is on the side street of 57th st. The classic banh mi can’t be beat and if you can handle the heat you should get it hot, jalapenos will be added to your sandwich, and you will be disappointed. Last but not least, $ 5 will get you a sandwich, nice and cheap!

This place is a hole in the wall. Great selections of viet sandwiches. #3BBQ Pork I waited about 10 minutes for my sandwich. They make it on the spot when you ordered. You can call the store number ahead of time to place your order. Crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, I savored every bite. It was nicely toasted and warm. I love how the mayo was slightly melted. There were a lot of flavors going on. The ingredients were very fresh: bbq pork, cilantro, radish, cucumber and carrots. The bbq pork was very tasty and nicely marinated. I asked for a little spicy(they add jalapenos pepper) to add a little kick and it definitely enhanced the flavor of the sandwich. I would definitely come back to try other sandwiches. The place is very small(not ideal for a sit in) and they have a counter area with three high chairs.

Will always have the best viet sandwich hands down! I always get the #1($ 5) and it hits the spot every single time. Pair it with a vietnamese style coffee($ 3) and there you have one satisfying lunch for less than $ 10!

So this place is a little hard to find not only because everything in this china town area has signs that are 100% in Chinese. And I’m not Chinese so I had to look through the windows to see what they were selling. Lol(a lot of these places sell random crap.) Anyways, this place is on the SIDE of the building on 57th street with a red sign and it’s actually in English! The sandwich was surprisingly delicious, just the right amount of hot peppers, perfectly marinated BBQ pork and the bread was on point! Try the #3!

Six dollars for one of the best sandwiches in the city. Get the number one and split it with someone, get an iced coffee too while you’re there. This is the holy trinity of food, rare in this city, so eat up. 1. Cheap 2. Filling 3. Delicious

I really like them, The spicy sandwiches & Viet Coffee for about 10.00 dollars. Although the wait is long it is worth it, They make each one by order. They also have another location on 7 ave equally as good. I like coffee, There Viet Coffee is fantastic, Better than other just coffee places. I would go more often if it was easier to park, Hard to park at both locations. Best Regards, Jimmy Wong VIPAUTONYC

Delicious and reliable quality of sandwich. Crunchy warm bread. Good portions. Same few people and consistent service. Not a long wait for food. Small space; good for take-out, bad for eating in. Crowded while waiting for food.

Oh so delicious. The bread is nice and toasty. They also have a variety of other Vietnamese traditional dishes. Wasn’t crazy about the 3 color dessert, but otherwise very pleased.

I’ve been here several times. The food here is good and if I didn’t have to interact with anybody there — then I would give 4 stars, HOWEVER I find them really rude. and when they get your order wrong, they blame the customer. Will not go back again. oh and everytime I go, the price goes up.

My very first banh mi was ordered here. And i ordered the #1 banh mi — bbq pork and ham. It tasted awesome! I total recommend getting banh mi here!

A great little Vietnamese café in Boro Park Brooklyn. It is a «café» meaning that they close early and are not open for dinner past the late afternoon. But they have great Vietnamese sandwiches and the beef stew and Phở are very good. They also have Bun Rieu(tomato based crab soup) and Banh Cuon(steamed rice roll), which I love.

Really solid banh mi — Thanh Da II is pretty much my go-to place because it’s right by 8th Ave(N) and it’s better than Ba Xuyen now(my previous favorite). Portions are good — I do remember a time when half a banh mi was enough to satisfy me, but now I just eat the whole thing.(Not sure if I’m a fatty, portions have gone down, or it’s just irresistibly delicious. Probably all three). I usually call ahead(when I get off the 8th ave stop) because everything can be ready in 10 minutes. The main update, though, is for the milkshakes — since those aren’t in English, I never thought about them. I learned today that they have watermelon, avocado, strawberry and durian. The avocado and durian are both made fresh and are really tasty, though my current durian smoothie is a bit too icy for my taste(not blended enough). Neither is too sweet, and I would definitely get it again. Milkshake for $ 4 and #1 banh mi for $ 5 — an amazing meal for under $ 10.

Came in here after a doctor’s appointment and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Bahn Mi here. I think it’s the best I’ve had in the 8th Ave neighborhood. The place is a small hole in the wall that only has about 4 bar stools in front of a wall next to the beverage fridge. The ladies that work there weren’t pushy about needing to order something right away and were nice. The sandwiches are all decently priced and comes with a good variety to choose from. I ended up ordering the #1 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The bread had a good crunch to it and the pork/pâté was so delicious. I’d really hope to try the #3 next time after ready other Unilocalers mention about it.

They have the best Vietnamese sandwiches hands down. I come here quite often whenever I’m around the neighborhood and I’m looking for something to eat. This is usually the place I would go. Although this shop is small, they make the best sandwiches. They also have another store on 7th avenue and 60th street. I go to either or whenever I’m here.

Pretty darn good and consistent. I’ve been going to this place for the past 10 years and have consistently like the fresh ingredients and toasted crispy light bread and the flavorful meets packed into Vietnamese sandwiches here. I normally also get the #1 and #3, and they have never failed me as a quick to go lunch that I brought to everything from my middle school field trips to lunch at my first job. Although the prices have been climbing, the sandwiches are still well worth the value, especially if you want a fresher or less greasy alternative to all of the other food around 8th Avenue. Tastes best when you eat it as soon as you get it.

My favorite Vietnamese place for Viet bread. The make it FRESH. Their bread is crunchy and toasted. The fillings are so flavorful. I love the number 1 and the number 3. Number is my ultimate favorite. Number 3 usually sells out quick, sometimes even before 4 p.m. It is just so juicy and yummy. The sour carrots and jalapeños compliments the entire sandwich. It is a must have in the sandwich. Over the years number 3 has been the most expensive sandwich and has been on the rise constantly which really blows cause it’s so good but pricey. It’s a very small and tight spaces store. There are 2 to 3 chairs. The service is fast but the food process is a little time consuming case it takes time to prepare the bread and assemble the sandwich in a specific order. The staffs are friendly and they always know what they are doing. Their coconut, lychee and logan drink is the bomb. It’s packed with that fresh fruit flavor and you actually get pieces of that fruit in your cold drink when you order it during the summer.

2nd time here. They make the sandwich while you wait. Haven’t ventured past getting number 1, though off the menu. Maybe next time will try something different.

The warm and toasty and crunchy chicken sandwich… I missed you so much! Ever since I moved to Queens from Brooklyn, I’ve been missing the viet sandwich from this place. There were a few times where hubby bought it for me from on his drive home from Brooklyn, but it was too soggy and not toasty and warm by the time it gets to me, so it didn’t taste the same=( This place is always very busy and they run out of bread fast, many times, you can’t even get it in the late afternoon because they sold out of the bread, so come early or call first before you make the trip.

I guess Thanh Da has finally figured out over the years what a hair net/cap is. That, or they’ve been really great at concealing someone’s shedding problem. I used to come here a lot when I was younger. Every single time, without fail, I would somehow manage to find a strand of hair in my banh mi — sandwiched somewhere between the the fatty BBQ pork and the cucumbers. So I stopped going. Until one day, I just had a craving that I knew only this place could satisfy. So I took a leap of faith and got what I always get — the #1 — BBQ pork and ham, add jalapenos — hold the hair. This time, not a single strand was found! The bread was perfectly toasted, veggies were fresh and crispy and all the flavors from the meat and pickled daikon were perfectly joined together in a holy matrimony. My only gripe — they give less meat than they used to and they’ve raised the prices. Even so, I still want to start branching out and try some of their other sandwiches. But — baby steps. I’ll have to take this one bite at a time.
