Update: I got a call from someone from TDY shortly after I posted my original review. He wanted to discuss all the issues I had during my move and reassure me that this is not the norm for their company. I agree that my experience was unusual and other people I know have had great experiences with TDY (which was the reason I was surprised in the first place!). I was also impressed that they care so much about the reputation of their company and try to make the rare bad experience a little better. They ended up refunding me for the cost of the ticket and an hour of the move which was very appreciated! As I posted originally, everyone I’ve interacted with at TDY moving has been very nice and professional and I really do think that most of their moves go off without a hitch. I also think that a company that takes pride in their reputation and customer service as much as this one does is rare and I value that attitude! I had originally given this company 2 stars but bumped it to 4 given their attitude about customer service and the fact that they did refund me for part of my move.
Original: I would have given this company 1 star but the actual movers were extremely hard-​working and nice so I added a star for them. Here are all the things that went wrong in my moving experience.
— my bill ended up being double my estimate (due to the fact that moving took twice as long as expected even though they had all the facts when doing the estimate)
— there probably should have been 3 movers assigned to my job but only 2 were. This made the move take longer and also caused the movers to do a crazy amount of work.
— Although my roommate and I offered to sit in the truck so that it wouldn’t get ticketed, my movers said we shouldn’t and… their truck ended up getting ticketed, adding more than $ 100 to my move.
— I noticed the night of my move that 2 boxes had not been unpacked. I called and they found the boxes on the truck and offered to deliver them the next morning. However, I needed the boxes for an event I had early the next morning so I ended up driving to the warehouse (which was its own ordeal) to get my boxes.
— about a week after my move, I noticed another box was missing. I called and they found the box but did not deliver it until a few weeks after my move, after I called several times.
So overall, it cost more than double what I was expecting and 3 boxes were left on the truck. I only got those boxes back because I called multiple times. This company was recommended by a friend and I saw that they have overall great reviews so my experience may be a fluke. Also everyone I met was very nice and professional. However, I would not recommend this company and would not use them again.

Great move experience. We needed a queen size bed removed and stored for a few days and returned. TDY was terrific. Guys are super friendly and very professional. They took care of the bed. And my apt during the move out and in. Plus their rates are reasonable. Thank you !

I found this moving company using
(which is essentially expedia, but for moving companies– I highly recommend you start there when looking for movers). TDY was quick to respond via email and a phone call, which I like. They were not pushy when calling, but wanted to know more about the move so that they could quote us the best price! We took a full inventory of everything we have, dressers, boxes, tvs, etc. and also included information about the units we moving out of and into! Once they had all of the information they sent us a quote, and after comparing many moving companies, we decided to use TDY.
The quote is per man hour and they list the number of movers you will have. We scheduled a 9am start time, and unfortunately due to traffic the movers did not get there until about 10, but called to let us know they were running late, no big deal! The movers were all friendly, quick, and efficient. The move seemed like it was going so fast!
When moving us in to our new apartment, they put everything exactly where we asked them too. They were great to work with. The only reason that I am not giving them 5 stars is because i felt like they should have been more transparent on the quote and what you are getting. When the head mover was adding everything up, it felt like he was just throwing out numbers, $ 20 here, $ 15 for this, etc, which added another $ 100. When I read my quote I assumed everything was included, but it was not, there was fine print that said wrapping anything besides the TVs would be extra.
They should be a little more transparent when it comes to what is included in the charge per hour. One of the main reasons we picked this company was because we thought we were getting the best deal, but it looks like we only thought that because the other companies had listed these additional in their quotes.
So, yes, I would recommend them to others, friendly, fast, courteous service, but only if money is not a huge matter. Make sure you go through your quote with a fine-​toothed comb and know exactly what you are getting.

There were a few hiccups, but moving is hard — I don’t want to do it again.
The movers were good, lord knows they were through some stuff with me.
Good men and company is square.

This review is based ONLY on my interaction with their customer service and their account manager Mario Apunte. I have not moved with this company, so I dont know how their moving quality is.
I contacted Mario and TDY because we were moving from NYC to Tampa, FL. From the beginning Mario was super attentive and very patient.
Every time I asked him for something, he replied in a very short time, even on weekends. He has a great attitude in general and did not loose his patient for my many questions.
I ended up going with a more expensive company, for personal reasons and my move with that other company was great.
However, I have a good feeling about this company and had I moved with them, I would probably been in good shape as well.

Our previous moves within NYC have been gut-​wrenching and stressful. But, last weekend the TDY team changed all that — the move seemed painless. John, the sales rep, provided clear and specific pricing and scheduling. He negotiated all the details, including the Certificate of Insurance required by the realty company, and made sure to forward us all the documentation. TDY’s professionalism begins at the office and continues to the move foreman and movers. Our foreman, Ian, was nothing less than fabulous. He maintained his exuberant demeanor and expertise throughout a fairly difficult move (fifth-​floor walkup to third-​floor walkup) on busy Manhattan streets. The team worked quickly, fastidiously and energetically. The movers were unfailingly courteous. Many thanks to them and to the entire TDY team.

Fast, efficient, and lowest quote for an in-​city Manhattan move. The moving leader was great and was on time/​early. I also had this really stubborn/​crappy ikea wardrobe that previous movers’ refused to move through my old apartment. It wasn’t a problem for these guys. Would highly recommend them.

Sadik and his team were amazing! They arrived early for my long distance move from NY to Las Vegas and had me moved in exactly an hour! Very courteous, professional and nice. I highly highly recommend for anyone moving long distance. They are the best!

Exceptional experience with this company. Moving can be an extremely painful process and I felt that the movers made moving day very easy and smooth. They were very kind, quick, and extremely efficient! They helped me move to a 5^th floor walk up and everything was intact and they helped me position everything in the apt and put all the furniture back together. Amazing experience. Will definitely go with they when i move again and recommend to my friends!!!

I made the appointment super last minute, but John took the time to assure me that his men will do their best to move us at that short a notice. Keep in mind i had not packed anything and also didn’t have boxes, John and his men provided me with everything we needed! I tried to help, but it was not a good idea because all i did was slowing them down, they told me to relax and just make sure i watch my 3 boys. All the work was done in a timely manner, the guys where very courteous and professional, i recommend them to everybody and the pricing was just exactly what i needed on my budget, John managed to work with me!!! Quick and easy move– when I had to make a last minute change of date they were very accommodating. The movers were friendly, helpful and fast, and everything arrived with a smile and without a scratch. Used them before and will use them again!

TDY moved my sister in law from Long Island to Virginia. Everything went smoothly and was done professionally and on time. Highly recommend this company. Price was excellent.

TDY did a fantastic Job moving us across the country from New York to San Francisco. They were able to have someone do an estimate same day and have a crew in to move us out next day based on our tight timelines. Their delivery showed up 10 days later in San Francisco with no issues. Both the move out and move in crews were great, they never complained once moving items out of our seventh story walk up. In addition, our account rep was great at providing us up to date information and helping coordinate with their contracted driver. If we ever move back to New York City we will be using TDY.

I just used TDY for a one bedroom move within Manhattan. Experience with everyone from the person that evaluated my apartment prior to packing and the move, the person in the office that handled the insurance certificates, and the three movers was positive. The movers showed up on time and worked non-​stop and handled all of my belongings and furniture with care. The quote was a fair price based on the other quotes I’ve received (I did a flat rate move). They lost one star because when the movers showed up there was small difference between the items on the quote and actual items — I should have checked the quote better because the person that evaluated the apartment left out some items. Also, the initial insurance certificate was wrong but that was resolved quickly.
Overall, a good experience.

Update 10÷28÷15: The owner Ed called me this morning and apologized profusely for what happened. Said he did not know about what was going on (the calls were not routed to him). Also vowed to improve the company’s policy and give his number to all future customers so that they can contact him directly with concerns. I appreciated him reaching out and believe that he genuinely felt sorry for the way things were handled… seems like a sincere guy. He offered to refund part of our payment which we also appreciated. THAT’S good business.
10÷27÷15: I took a week to calm down before writing this review to reflect on my experience and hopefully write a more balanced review. I was moving from New York to Georgia and so researched moving companies since I had some furniture that I spent a lot of money on and I didn’t want to risk friends helping me move them. I interviewed 3 companies and decided to go with TDY because the reviews online were great and the price was competitive. Well now I know the price was too good to be true. I had to change my move date several times which they accommodate without any problem. I continuously remind them of us not being available the first 5 days after moving for delivery and on Saturdays because it’s our day of worship– this they said would not be a problem. Things started to go downhill on moving day as when they arrived they told us that the cost of the move would double from $ 1100 (what was initially quoted) to $ 2300! because they did not know about a storage unit in the basement. I explicitly told the person about the storage unit and the approximate number of boxes there when she did the initial proposal (she did not have time during her evaluation to see it… in hindsight I should have insisted she see it). Given that we were now in a time crunch we stupidly still went ahead with them and now instead of using cash to pay half on pickup and the other half on delivery, we had to use our credit card and pay the FULL amount upfront per their policy since we did not have that kind of cash available. Prior to pickup and even on the day of delivery we were quoted 3 – 10 days delivery time. We got a call 1 – 2 dys after pickup asking if we were available to accept delivery in a day. We reminded them that we stated on numerous occasions before pickup that we were traveling for work and not available until 5 days after. I guess that was our missed window because after multiple calls to their dispatch department to find out what’s going on with our stuff we would get vague replies that it will be delivered soon. The phone was answered by Nigel who was polite but unable to provide any information so I would leave message after message for the «boss» Adam who would then take days to return my phone call. Fast forward 3 weeks– we were relieved to get the call that our stuff would be arriving soon. The 2 people who delivered our items were very polite but dropped several boxes and stacked heavy boxes on top of boxes clearly labeled FRAGILE. After all of this frustration I now have my most prized possession, my china cabinet, that I wanted to protect the most ruined. The doors and shelves were taped together with duct tape (by their moving personnel) so the wood is damaged when the tape was removed. Pieces were also missing so that it can no longer be assembled (their personnel tried and stated this fact as well) and the sides had big pieces of wood chipped! I also have chairs with a broken back and foot. 2 bookshelves and a lamp totally destroyed, a box of china that I received as a wedding present with all plates and cups broken! Even with all of this I never once received a call from TDY apologizing for any of their mis-​steps and damage. I am looking into any legal action I can take including following up with the BBB but would definitely NOT recommend that you choose this company.

Awesome service! The movers we worked with were punctual, friendly, hard-​working, and very accommodating/​helpful! I used the service multiple times within one week for various moving jobs I had in NY. I will definitely be using them again!

We booked this company because of the Unilocal reviews. Our team (headed by John) was great. 5 mins early, never stopped working (took about 8 hours to move because we moved out of 2 apartments then to the final move in apartment), and even expertly disassembled my couch to get it through the door, didn’t have to call the couch doctor. Polite, and efficient!
I took away 1 star because of a little lack of communication when I called originally. I was given the option of a 3 man or 4 man team ($ 159 & $ 185 an hour respectively). However. I also told them how much stuff, flights etc… I was told that a typical team would be 3 men. Because it was cheaper, I took that option. THIS WAS A 4 MAN TEAM JOB in retrospect. The workers even acknowledged it after about halfway through the second apartment because of number of floors to walk up (they passed things floor to floor) and number of items. It would have cost less had I done the 4 person because it probably would have taken 2 hours less.
ALSO: they charge you for wardrobe boxes 15.00 each. We had 7. Last move, the company brought in boxes they had used before and just put the clothes in and took them out. No fee. I paid for all 7 boxes and they took them away after. Was not informed of that at all. $ 105 for wardrobe boxes!!! Had I known, I would have packed the clothes in the hangers.
Just ask more questions about supplies upfront (I ended up paying $ 325 in supplies picture boxes, tv boxes, wardrobe boxes etc…) and pack accordingly.

Overall, I was very pleased with TDY. They were on time, friendly, and worked quickly. They were a bit rougher with my belongings than I would’ve liked them to be, but in the end the few scratches and dings were minor compared to some of the horror stories I heard/​read.
My only real complaint is that I wish they would’ve taken more care with my mattress. They only covered half of it, so the other half was dirty by the time they delivered it. I’m glad I kept the mattress cover it.
