History

Established in 2009.

Started on a whim in the Spring of 2009 when someone threw out the idea «Hey Lou, you have a van, you should move people and try to make a few extra dollars on the weekend»

Fast forward a few years later and we have a crew of over 10 people made up of artists, musicians, skaters & even one baker.

We have averaged over 500 moves a year and we are looking forward to even more. Hoping to have a second truck by the end of 2013

Sweet Lou’s crew showed up on time and got started right away.
They moved all of our belongings in one trip to our new place, a fourth floor walkup, in just a little over two hours.
They were extremely friendly, efficient, and everything arrived in one piece with no damage. We were also able to use a Unilocal Deal coupon which saved us $ 20 on the already more-​than-​reasonable price (You will be hard pressed to find a cheaper option with as good of a reputation as these guys – so be sure to treat them well).
We were very impressed and if we move again we would definitely book them.

Seriously the best. I dropped the ball & called with a last minute booking, & even though they are super high in demand they were able to squeeze in a slot for me. They were incredibly responsive via email & the guys called ahead as promised; Mike’s crew handled my move & not only were they efficient & careful, but they were really sweet & made the entire process a breeze. My new spot is on the 4th floor of a walk-​up & I wanted to help grab things so they didn’t need to walk all the way up every time, but the guys had such a good system that I just had to step out of the way. Moving is the worst but they made it an almost enjoyable process — have booked with them for 2 previous moves & 100% know they will be handling my next one. Will recommend to everyone!

Fantastic service. I would recommend them over and over, and use them over and over. I packed everything myself and they moved me within 2 hours from Long Island City to Downtown Brooklyn in August 2015. They also let me add to the truck a desk on the street that another tenant was throwing out — so that was a nice add-​on. Also, I was able to use a coupon from Zaarly as well as the Unilocal coupon which was great for extra savings (tip: google «Zaarly coupon codes» before submitting the deposit)
The company brought an extra mover to help me move under 2 hours without charging me extra (except for telling me that I should tip more to make up for it — which was fair, and I would’ve done the same thing). They didn’t have room for the extra mover in their truck so he rode in our taxi and he was extremely friendly and personable, as were all the guys.
These guys know how to get it done well and fast. It may seem like they’re too particular (which sometimes seemed like some crew members were getting annoyed) but remember they’re busting their butts in a high-​pressure setting, sometimes on hot days. Some may find this off-​putting but to me, it was a sign that they cared and wanted to get it done right and they did just that.
There were some minor scratches on furniture but it was stuff I told them not to bother wrapping, so that’s on me.

Very nice, clean, polite guys.
Nothing was broken nothing was taken.
Unfortunately very slow:
I ended up spending more than double (+$ 960 for a one person, one bedroom, moving 14 blocks within Manhattan) what we initially planned. This is for moving packed boxes.
Problems dealing with parking played a major role.
Super expensive.
For $ 1,400 I could have found someone who would have also packed and unpacked everything for me.

The move went smooth and easy. They were on time, very pleasant to deal with and very efficient. When I was shopping for a quote, they were very flexible and gave me a few quotes with different options and I was able to pick one that worked the best.
I mostly packed everything myself. Although, I did ran out of packing supplies and I did have a few fragile items. They wrapped them all in blankets and ensured they got transported safely. Everything arrived in the exact same condition, nothing broken and nothing missing.
I was moving within the same neighbourhood, so that probably saved on the travel time. Still, they moved me way under the 2 hrs I booked them for. Giving me extra time to unpack after the move.
I hope I won’t have to move anytime soon. But if I do, they’ll be the first and only once I will reach out to next time.

I totally hate moving, but these guys made it easy and FAST. My husband and I agree that we will never move ourselves again, and it is mostly due to these great guys! They started immediately and finished in just the nick of time for us to not go over the allotted 2 hours. They packed the van so well that when we arrived, we had minimal movement in the back. (we did a labor only move, into our rental moving van).

I’ve moved 6 or 7 times in the last two years alone and countless times before that. This is the first time I’ve ever used movers, and I’m SO happy I got a recommendation for Sweet Lou! So friendly, fast, and wonderful. All of my boxes were handled carefully and expertly by the four movers. I was so nervous about my boyfriend choosing our moving time between 3−6pm because HELLO RUSH HOUR. When we got a text that they could get to us two and a half hours earlier than expected, I lost my mind. Incredible! I was so happy to have it done early. Hopefully this will be my last move in a while but should I ever need to move again, these guys will be the first ones I call. I can’t wait to recommend them to my friends!

Lou and his staff were great to work with today and I will be using them again next week. Their website was easy to use and initiate a reservation/​quote request. They immediately contacted me and quickly responded to my countless email questions. They were very flexible to meet my day/​time needs. They showed up on time, were very quick, efficient and professional. I especially appreciate how they can accommodate your individual moving needs be it labor only or full-​on pack, truck and unload between destinations. Plus their rates are very reasonable and they offer easy payment options be it on-​line, phone or in person.
Our story: My daughter drove from San Francisco to Brooklyn in a 30′ RV towing a 10′ trailer. Since we were unsure of her exact arrival day/​time, Lou assured us he could help her unload the trailer whenever she arrived. With 1 day notice, Lou’s team did a great job unloading the trailer and made her arrival to New York wonderful. I will also be using Lou’s full service moving again in a few days when we move my daughter’s childhood friend from her current Brooklyn studio to my daughter’s new apartment where they will be roommates. Here again, Lou offered us options for what day and time works best for all.
I am very, very happy with Lou’s moving service.

FIVE STARS, WOULD MOVE AGAIN.
The Loumovesyou guys are amazing. They were cheerful, fast, and incredibly efficient. They were on time and careful with all the stuff.
My roommate and I got a bunch of furniture from a friend the day before our move, and they were still finished within the time allotted! They helped wrap up the mirrors and put blankets on all the furniture so it wouldn’t be scratched — even the little thrift shop sewing box that had more nicks in it than solid wood. I swear that thing was more protected than it had ever been in its life.
Their quote was far cheaper than a lot of other 5-​star reviewed companies, and they were done quickly, so it was really accurate. There were not any fees or changes in plan after we booked with them, and were really responsive via email for the whole experience.
I was so anxious for the moving process, but it was so easy and pleasant. I would definitely recommend them to everyone I know moving in NY!

I’ve moved my own stuff 3 times in NY and was over it. This was the first time I decided to invest in a moving company. Not only will I always hire movers going forward, but this is the only moving company I want to work with. The entire experience was pleasant and there was little to no work on my end. I had a lot of questions throughout the process and Lou and Kristen were both extremely responsive and nice during our email exchange: everything was straight forward, no hidden fees, and they had one of the lowest rates in the area (trust I did my research).
The moving team consisted of Mike, Rob and Cannon. They gave me a heads up 30 min before they arrived. If I could hand select movers in the future, it would be these three. All very friendly and professional and they got my stuff out of my apartment in 20 min! The entire process took under 2 hours. Thanks guys for making my moving experience an easy one.

look, you get to a certain point in your life where you have to start prioritizing time vs money issues. case in point: moving. I hate moving, like, with an intense passion. I decided that as a «real» grown up now, I wasn’t going to fuss around with begging for cardboard boxes at whole foods and trying to bribe my friends to help me shlep my crap from point A to point B anymore. I did a little bit of research and price checking but ultimately decided to go with Sweet Lou’s — partially because I sort of like their salty, no bullshit attitude.
don’t be mistaken though — these dudes are pros and will take care of your crap (all of it!). they were on time and hauled all of my junk in just under 2 hours and even wrapped my glass and mirrors in heavy duty blankets to make sure nothing would break. the REAL testament to their services is how willing they were to help me set up my bed and also move certain donation items to the hallway for me. the actual movers were a trio of younger guys who were pretty funny and also speedy.
although they may not be the cheapest, I am happy I chose Sweet Lou’s crew to take care of my move!

If I could give more stars, I would.
These guys showed up right on time, got straight to work, and had our 1 bedroom loaded on our truck within 40 (yes, FORTY) minutes. We were blown away.
The booking process was easy and the email correspondence was professional and quick.
I HIGHLY recommend and would use again for future moves if given the chance.
