Sumeshe Maids and Concierges

Bought 2 hours from Amazon local. There was 71 dollars in value, so I assumed these were super cleaners, or something. She cleaned 2 bathrooms, and mopped my floors, then said it was time to leave about 15 minutes early. I gave them 1 star because she was a nice lady, and I gave them another star because they inspired ME to finish cleaning my apartment, and I am proud of how good a job I did.

The customer service for whoever answers the phone is horrible

Jacqueline is the best. She did above and beyond what I asked for. The apt looks better than when I moved in. I had a groupon for 2 hours of cleaning. She cleaned my room and also washed the floors all over the apt and cleaned the bathroom and a bit of the kitchen. It was nice to be able to see the apt so clean again.

I’ve used this service twice through Groupon and I guess I got lucky. Some of those other companies don’t call you back or respond to your emails, not to name names (YOCO), but Sumeshe has been really attentive, calling to confirm, following up, etc. Perhaps they have recently «cleaned up their act,» so to speak. Anyway, the two times I used them were among the best 4 hour cleanings I’ve gotten from a service with a Groupon, of about 5 different companies. I have a 2BR that usually takes more than 5 hours to clean thoroughly; the first woman, Jacqueline, cleaned the place really thoroughly and fell in love with our vacuum, which was maybe a bit odd but better that than she didn’t know how to operate one. The second woman, Lisa, rolled through the apartment like a scrubbing hurricane. She had done a bang-​up job and had time to spare. I usually clean the second bedroom myself, and when she caught me vacuuming a little, she stopped me and asked «Why are you doing my job?» I’m mentioning names here because it may be that certain cleaners are far better than others, and if you ask for them by name you will get better service. Anyway, I cannot recommend Jacqueline or Lisa highly enough, and I haven’t had any trouble with Sumeshe as a business as yet.

I bought a living social special for 2 hours and she spent nearly an hour just cleaning my bathrooms, but they were totally clean. She did a great job. even scrubbed my kitchen cabinets to brand new looking. she did a wonderful job sweeping my house and dusting. the steam cleaning on my floors was much to be desired, perhaps if she had more time and spent less time in the bathrooms. i was troubled that she took almost an entire hour doing them, they werent that filthy. id definitely use her again.

I bought a Groupon for four two-​hour cleanings. I repeatedly had difficulty scheduling the appointments, and the people who eventually came each time repeatedly did a mediocre job. I would expect that in two hours, a professional should be able to completely clean a kitchen and bathroom (they weren’t in terrible shape to begin with). Each time, I had to go in and finish the job myself after they left. One woman broke a dish, which happens, but she lied about it and said it was already broken. I would not use their service again.

I purchased a Groupon for two 2-​hour cleaning sessions. Both times I was underwhelmed. I’m not Martha Stewart, but I did put myself through college cleaning dorm rooms, so there’s a basic level of knowledge/​method I’d assumed of a cleaning service, i.e. dust *then* vacuum, vacuum or at least sweep before mopping. I didn’t give point-​by-​point instructions because I assumed «please dust, vacuum, dry mop and wet mop the following rooms» was enough, but I still had to go around and clean up after both girls.
Both women were really nice, but neither took off their street shoes, the first one broke my vacuum and the second one put her cup down on the only good piece of furniture in the house, right beside the coaster that was there to protect the only good piece of furniture in the house. I hadn’t pointed it out to her and said «please don’t put anything that will cause a ring on this surface,» but, again, I would hope that professional cleaners would be tuned into things like coasters. She also used the tub brush on the inside of the toilet before proceeding to use it on the outside of the toilet when the dedicated toilet brush was right next to the toilet.
I’ve also not had stellar experiences with the booking staff. They’ve never been rude and they haven’t made any mistakes, but there was a surliness to the interactions that made me feel like I was putting them out somehow.

In short, there’s better out there.

All I can say is, don’t make deals with Groupon and LivingSocial if your housekeepers can’t deliver the goods.
We bought a coupon for two hours of house cleaning from LivingSocial. Unfortunately, the housekeeper that showed up at the appointed time did a very poor job, lacking any attention to even obvious details — and we’re not exactly the most anal-​retentive neat freaks ourselves here. We felt like we had to tell the housekeeper to re-​do several cleaning tasks, and after two hours of work, our apartment barely felt any cleaner than before.
Our search for a good housecleaning service soldiers on…

I bought a Groupon for four hours cleaning. I asked them to focus on the kitchen and bathrooms. They did a very poor job. As I was not present I had to ask the doorman if the cleaners came, as it did not look like anything was done at at all.
I think in four hours for a studio apartment you should see some results which I did not.

I purchased a LivingSocial voucher for a 2-​hour cleaning service from Sumeshe and last week they came to clean my apartment. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the service. The girl that showed up acted completely clueless and unprofessional when she arrived. I asked her to clean everything in the kitchen and then if she had time left over, to move onto the 2 bathrooms. During the two hours she «finished» the kitchen and one bathroom. Exactly at the 2-​hour mark she told me she had to go. When I asked her what she had not done in the second bathroom, she told me she hadn’t done the toilet. Upon looking at kitchen when she left, I noticed she had not done everything — things were still dusty and it was clear that only the center part of the countertops were clean (it was obvious she had not moved anything on the counter to get behind the toaster oven, get in the corners, etc.). Then when I went to look at the second bathroom, the one she did everything but the toilet, again, that was not the case. The bathroom still looked quite dirty and it was clear certain things — the floor and tub — were not cleaned. In addition she had also left the mop and bucket full of water in my hallway. I understand that she was only there for 2 hours, but she couldn’t have stopped 2 minutes early to dump out the water before leaving? This experience did not work out as I had hoped and I will not be contacting them again for another cleaning.

Oh dear. This is the first review I’ve written on Unilocal and I hate the fact that it’s a negative one. In fact, right after this, I’m going to go write a positive one so the forces in the universe balance out.
Alright, here goes. I purchased a Living Social coupon for 2 hours of cleaning. I figured it’d be enough, as I only wanted the kitchen, bathroom, and living room cleaned. I’m also a bit of a neat freak and things are generally well-​maintained to begin with. Sumeshe Maids (Latasha, in particular) was great about letting me book the date, and even letting me reschedule when I needed to.
A young woman showed up to my apartment right on time. She was very sweet and polite. I showed her the cleaning supplies (most of which had been purchased new just for this job), explained what I’d like to get done, and let her go at it.
When I inspected her work after 2 hours, I was very disappointed. It’s not only that she wasn’t thorough in her cleaning, but she actually left certain areas of the apartment dirtier than when she had arrived. There were new streak marks on the kitchen floor, marks on our white tub, only the toilet seat was cleaned (the bottom portion had been bypassed entirely), the corners of cupboards were still dusty, she decided to wipe down the bookshelves with paper towels and left white fuzzy bits all over it, white shelves were wiped with dirty towels and had grey streaks on them, a lot of furniture in the living room remained undusted, and she left the trash can with its top off and without a new liner. And it wasn’t a matter of her running out of time. When I came back after the two hours were up, she was sitting idly on the couch waiting for me to return.
Sumeshe, please train your cleaners. The young woman seemed perfectly nice but clueless, as if she had never seen an apartment being properly cleaned before.

The woman who came to my house was very nice.
However, she was the absolute worst cleaner I have ever encountered.
I am not the the neatest person to have ever walked the face of the earth. I hate cleaning the tub, toilet and kitchen so I only do an acceptable job cleaning up… at least making sure that everything is disinfected.
So, every couple months, I like to hire someone to come in and do a really thorough job. I got a Livingsocial voucher and thought, «for forty bucks (excluding tip and tax) why not give them a try?»
Fast forward., I just spent the last 20 minutes going over the terrible job Sumeshe maids did in my small
the two hours allotted by the voucher, she barely cleaned the visible places. There was still hair on the bathroom faucet and dust bunnies around the perimeter of the room! She didn’t move any of the furniture, and clearly didn’t attempt to get underneath anything, because there were still tons of crumbs.
I’m really bummed I had to pay to basically re-​clean the entire place myself.
Also, I made an initial appointment for earlier in the week and they just didn’t show up. This was a «make-​up» appointment.

This group is TERRIBLE! I had an appointment for a cleaning that I made 1.5 months in advance. I called two days in advance in hopes to move up my time. The person who picked up said that she was not in the office and would call back by the afternoon. The person never called back. I tried calling back, but no one picked up each time I called. I finally got in touch with someone the following day and that person told me that my appointment was not on their schedule. Therefore, they could not fit me in. Then the person hung up on me! So rude. If you want to be stood up by a cleaning company, this is the company to call!

I found a coupon on Living Social for two hours of cleaning services. The customer service rep I spoke to was very nice when I called to make the appointment, but the housekeeper was a no-​show and the company never returned my calls. I was issued a refund by Living Social. Very unprofessional of Sumeshe.

I wrote a review last week about Sumeshe Maids that wasn’t very favorable at all. I am now writing to publicly apologize to Ms. Kenroy Scott and Sumeshe Maids and Concierges. There is no denying that I was dissatisfied with the first person who cleaned my home, but I was more than satisfied with how the matter was resolved. Apparently, Ms. Scott had not received my previous messages but when we spoke, she handled my situation in a professional and caring manner — letting me know that the customer really mattered. Today my home was cleaned by a lovely young woman, Shauna. She arrived on time and got right to work.

I bought a fantastic Groupon for Sumeshe, and I’ve used 4 of my 8 hours. I was able to make an appointment for when I wanted without too much advance notice. The lady they sent was very sweet and did a thorough job. If my next 4 hours are as good as the first, I’m planning to have them come regularly.

My brother’s apartment was in DESPERATE need of a clean. I was going to be staying there over Thanksgiving and I really needed him to get his bathroom cleaned.
I checked out a few places from Unilocal but they were hard to get in touch with and hard to schedule. Finally I found Sumeshe.
They responded so fast, it was awesome! Not only did she respond fast but she was also will to book for the next day during a holiday weekend and give me a first time discount. WOW! For less than $ 100 a guy came and cleaned my brother’s apartment for FIVE HOURS and brought his own supplies. He scrubbed the bathroom, made his bed, did the dishes, and put away his laundry. Very impressive.
Not only did they do a great job cleaning, but Latasha made it super easy for me to do it from Colorado. We talked, set up a time that worked for my brother, and I paid via Pay Pal! I was very happy with the whole experience.
The apartment looks great and the work was well done. I definitely recommend Sumeshe to anyone in NYC looking for maid service! And the next time my brother’s place needs a pick-​me-​up, I know who I am calling!

I made my appointment over the phone and even though a recent Groupon had run successfully (which I didn’t purchase) I was able to get an appointment easily for the day and time I was seeking two days in advance. I was told to have cleaning supplies ready and that it would take two hours. This means if you are «green» your cleaning will be «green» and you won’t have to pay an exorbitant amount of extra dough for that specialty. To be honest, I was doubtful that anything could really be cleaned in two hours (I clean for two hours and dustbunnies are out dancing the next day) but booked the appointment anyway.
Mirlene arrived right on time and immediately set to cleaning my house. I will say I am tidy by nature but deep cleaning is not my forte. I have two toddlers and just keeping the chaos of toys, books and clothes at bay is enough that I am exhausted and spent by the time I even begin to think about «deep cleaning» the bathroom.
Within two short hours Mirlene cleaned my 2 bedroom apartment (which is about 950 Sq Ft) really focusing on deep cleaning the bathroom and kitchen and then proceeding to vacuum, mop and dust the entirety of the remaining rooms. She got into areas I rarely think about: the ceiling fan, the blinds, the moldings, all my bookshelves, underneath the couch and children’s furniture (oh, the things she found, embarassing!!!)
I have to say, I’d never had anyone else clean my house before and I was a bit reluctant to have a stranger in my home but Mirlene was professional, efficient and amazing at what she does. My husband, who normally could live in a pile of garbage and be quite happy, came home from work that evening and said «Wow, what happened in here?!?» He ACTUALLY noticed, which is a testament to Mirelene. The house smelled beyond clean and continued to smell that way for well over a week.
My only disappointment is that now I am hooked on Mirlene. She’s my gateway drug to having help in the house that I had always eschewed as an unnecessary expense… I was wrong. Sumeshe Maids and Concierges is worth EVERY cent and owned and operated by women who are extremely professional, proficient at their craft and a wonderful company.

We purchased a great deal on Groupon and while I was nervous there were no reviews, the deal was good enough that if the service was decent I wouldn’t be upset.
I made the appointment over the phone and was able to have my first choice of date and time accommodated. The phone connection wasn’t great but we got it done in one take.
I left the supplies (mop, vacuum, cleaning agents) with a note in order of what we wanted done for the two hours. We specified to spend as much time as necessary on the bathroom.
When we got home, the woman left us a nice note telling us what she did and recommendations to keep it clean. Overall, she did a good job. I wasn’t wowed but it was definitely worth it to pay for someone other than myself to spend the time cleaning!
We still have two more two hour sessions. I’m pretty excited! Our apt is kept pretty clean so two hours is just what we need and glad to only pay for what we need (unlike some other services that charge for a 4-​hour session).
In a few weeks we’ll have her back to touch everything up.

I’ve been living in Manhattan for the past 6 years and have tried a bunch of home cleaning services. Sumesha Maids is definitely the best I’ve tried. They employees are quick and efficient with their time and leave the apt spotless.
