Specialties

Southpaw is a 5,000 square foot venue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We bring you local, national, international artists & DJs spanning all musical genres. It is the greatest music venue in Brooklyn, if not the world.

History

Established in 2002.

Carved and created out of a 99 Cent Discount store in the middle of Brooklyn, Southpaw opened its doors in 2002 and since then has emerged as one of New York City’s première venues for concerts and special events. Southpaw was chosen as one of the top 5 venues in all of New York City by TIME OUT NY. Our famous jukebox (RIP) was also called «jaw-dropping» in Time Out NY’s Music Issue. Southpaw has hosted acts such as Deer Tick, Sharon Jones + The Dap Kings, Cat Power, TV On The Radio, Roky Erikson, Bill Callahan, Dave Chappelle, The Felice Brothers, Negative Approach, KRS-One, Built To Spill, Gillian Welch, Big Daddy Kane, Steve Earle, Luna, Devendra Banhart, Antibalas, Joan Jett, Patton Oswald, Frank Black, The Mummies, Sufjan Stevens, and many others to numerous to mention here. Southpaw features a second bar called DownSouth which is available for private parties and more. Visit the DownSouth page for more information. For artists playing Southpaw please visit spsounds.com.
