Specialties

New York City’s only independent bookshop specializing in science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, vintage pulp fiction, occult, speculative non-fiction, and other pulp genres of old.

In addition to scifi, fantasy and pulp books, we also carry a wide selection of geek-approved T-shirts, tote bags, greeting cards, gifts, one-of-a-kind posters and collectable artwork, mid-century furniture and décor, vintage technology, and a curated collection of table top games and comics.

And robots.

And lasers.

Oh, and check out our mission to save out-of-print sci fi books from copyright obscurity at www.savethescifi.com!

History

Established in 2012.

After a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign to kick off our parallel e-publisher, and amassing a number of vintage books, we decided to open up a brick and mortar bookshop to share all the weird and wonderful books we’ve collected in the process.

Our e-publisher, also named Singularity & Co, specializes in saving vintage science fiction books with questionable copyright status by wading through legal quagmires to located authors or their estates, and with their blessing publish their work as e-books.

For more information on this project, or to subscribe to our membership program and access our publications, please visit us at www.savethescifi.com!

Meet the Business Owner

Cici J.

Business Owner

In 2012, Cici James and husband Ash Kalb began an extraordinary journey into the past with a small Kickstarter project and a wild idea: Saving out-of-print vintage science fiction from copyright legal limbo as e-books, for the future!

Two years, one brick and mortar store, and 30+ publications later, Singularity&Co and Cici James have effectively merged into the same being. But when not actively bringing books back to the future, Cici can be found at your local Star Trek convention sporting her Seven of Nine cosplay, anthropologizing in the wilds of South Dakota, or taking the stage at any number of downtown NYC music venues, any given evening.
