Created by French hairdresser Sebastien, the idea of Salon De Quartier was to create New York hair salon and Customer service like no other. I love it, I usually go to Audrey and she cuts my hair exactly how I want them. I can tell it’s a good cut because it looks good for months after I get it cut. It is great!

Went in for an express cut. Fatima was awesome! So sweet and personable first off. She did a wonderful job of shaping up my lob that grew out to all one length. She gave me some nice long layers to shape my face. Just enough layering to give my hair body without making it choppy. For $ 32 it’s a pretty good trade-​off.

I took advantage of the men’s special on a Tuesday and was very satisfied. All the staff were extremely welcoming and the stylist was the first I have met in NYC who really took the time to understand what I wanted, and checked I was happy as she progressed with the cut. My hair is not easy to cut well and the results were very good. I certainly recommend the salon.

Salon de Quartier is great. The staff are friendly, I very rarely have to wait when I have an appointment, and I always get an excellent cut. Before going here, I went to a very pricey Tribeca spot. Salon de Quartier is every bit as good but friendlier and prices are incredibly reasonable. Highly recommended. I love David but have had a good experience with everyone there.

This meets all my criteria to make me a loyal customer. A great cut and beautiful highlights with gloss (both by Sebastien) — a lovely crew and calming, clean ambiance is the icing on the cake. Pricing is absolutely reasonable and the timing was just about 2 hours including blowout (when I have sometimes sat 3−4hrs just for color…) I will definitely be back!

Worst haircut ever on a Monday for the $ 29 special with Audrey. She was very sweet but not skilled at cutting hair at all. Trust me when they say «you get what you pay for!»
I’ll never return. My hair looks uneven, but I’m not going back to get it fixed because I’m afraid she’ll make it worse. So while trying to save money, I’ll end up spending more going someplace else to get this fixed.
Would not recommend!

I have been going to this place for years… and I gotta say that I love it. I have no reason to go anywhere else. Period. Every time I go for either a cut or color, I’m blown away by the job done by either Eileen, David, or Rebekah. Yesterday Eileen colored my hair– nothing short of a fabulous job!

Usually I go to barber shops but decided to go for a normal cut instead of a fade… And I’m glad I did. Audrey cut my hair today and she did a fantastic job! I’m actually prepping for a final interview tomorrow so I’m very grateful that she made my hair look so professional. I will be back! Thank you!

I went for a trim and that was totally fine.
Trouble was before and after. I was in agony when the stylist washed my hair. She was trying to comb my hair while my hair was still wet and tangled, tugging and pulling — she stopped when I had to tell her it was hurting me.
Then after the cut while she was blow drying my hair, she kept the dryer lingering too long on my scalp every time she started on a new area that the heat was starting to burn me. At one point I screamed — «ow!!» and had to pull my head away from her.
It’s the next day and parts of my scalp is still tingling and sensitive.
Again the cut was fine, but overall I experienced a lot of pain at this salon.

I’m from Belgium, and often in NYC for work. Living in DUMBO — I thought to give ‘Salon de Quartier’ a try. And now I’m a big fan! David gave me a cut that fits me perfectly — he is the first stylist that truly knows what works for me! So back in Europe, everybody is jealous of my haircut :-) And from now on he is the only one cutting my hair.
You can also practice your French — ‘c’est fantastique’ — so try it — have David get you a cut that works!

I live in Dumbo and have been coming here for 5 years. It’s been a great find for me and I highly recommend it. Rebecca and Audrey are the two I’ve worked with but I get the sense it’s a capable group. Clean, easy, unpretentious but upscale. I often see other repeat business when I am there, and I think that speaks loudly.

Figured I would give them a try as I’m new to the area and looking for a new hair salon. Not again, woman cutting was chatty and nice, asked me no less then 3 times to write a Unilocal review.
Left with my hair looking like I still needed a cut. A week after and I now look like I badly need a cut.
Money down the drain.

To state that I will never color and cut my hair anywhere else in NY from now on is a lot to commit to after just one color and cut job. But, I must say, I have never had a better color and cut in 10+ years. Ever.
I have that kind of «dark blonde» hair (yes dark blonde in quotes) which requires serious color upkeep. So much work to make it look real. But hey, it’s worth it when I go to a place like this.
And I have been to them all — Bumble and Bumble, Arrojo, even some high-​end insanely expensive colorist on the Upper Eastside (who shall remain nameless)…
Salon de Quartier matches, if not exceeds, all of them.
I am sold. The staff is great, the owner is a gem, and Sakrua rocks as a master stylist.
A final side note is that the place was happily hip and comfortable in décor, great lighting, and not a trace of stinky smelly hair dye chemicals one finds at most hair places.
