I’ve been coming to Salon Da Noi for 3 years and everyone there is marvelous. They really get to know you and are so friendly and easy to talk to. Carolina has done many blowouts for me and is great. Marco is a brilliant colorist, he is a true artist and loves what he does, and loves his clients even more! Matt has given me a couple cuts and is amazing! He is just a great person, and will go the extra mile for his clients to make sure they’re happy. His cuts grow in beautifully and he seems to know exactly what kind of cut to do on a person’s hair. Even if staff aren’t personally doing your hair, they will stop to talk to you, offer you a drink, admire their colleagues’ work. It’s just a great positive environment and i’ve always been happy with my hair!

Well. I went. I have heard so much about this place so I went for it. NO NO NO. Bad idea! Nadia it seems has tons of great reviews on this site. I was told she was marvelous. Not my experience. She was rude, very BROOKLYN trashy. Cursing, never near by. Trashing clients, others in the place and then just really screwing up my hair! It was an easy color job but in the end it was drab, unimaginative and done badly. She never asked me what I wanted, shooed me off quickly and ran. I had to go get my hair done somewhere else the next week. The owner seems nice and some of it is fun. However, I think the days of the tough Brooklyn Chick are behind us. Bay Ridge is becoming more a place of intelligent and artistic people who want the small town feeling of the Ridge. Not only Nadia but many in here are what I used to call Cushettes! Gum smacking, long nailed, tough women! I know that hairstylists are not always the most refined but wow this was rough! Over done clients, too much product, too much make up and I walked out looking like one of them. I was never asked really who I am. Wouldn’t it make sense to listen to the client? See who she is? Of course I was offered coffee and water or wine. I get that treatment in every salon. What I would have preferred was some attention by my hairstylist.

I have been going to Da Noi since they opened. After I moved, I tried going elsewhere for convenience and that was a HUGE mistake. I now drive over 30 mins to Da Noi because I know that I will leave beyond satisfied. I have dark brown hair with a red undertone and Olympia magically makes my blond look natural every time. Most people actually believe that it is my natural color. The entire staff is great and knowledgeable. They are always going to hair shows and keep up with the latest color techniques and cuts. I really believe that it is SO HARD to find the right colorist. Look no further bc Salon Da Noi gets it right every time.

I just got out of my first visit here and I have to say, I’m never going to go anywhere else. I came here on a recommendation from some co workers and reading other Unilocalers reviews and I am beyond satisfied.
After a hard day, the staff here gave me life. I made my appointment with Erica, who came highly recommended, and I was not disappointed. She listened to everything I had to say, was very mindful of my wish to keep my hair length long as possible while putting layers and making is super pretty!
I can honestly say it was one of the most pleasant experiences I’ve ever had at a salon. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. You’re greeted as soon as you enter and the girls at the front are super pleasant while remaining professional. It is also very obvious that everyone is knowledgeable, and able to answer questions and concerns.
Da Noi on Fifth is definitely a keeper and a place I’ll recommend to anyone who asks; especially Erica who was so sweet, nice, and attentive (she really listens!) as well as Dee who washed my hair and melted away any stress I had walking in there. See you in three months!

Da Noi was great!
The atmosphere is relaxing, clean and inviting.
But most of all the customer service was fantastic!
I was having a «cookie crisis» for my brothers party and the employees went above and beyond to help me with directions, where to go etc… I don’t live here in NY. It was SO helpful that they were willing to help.
My hair was great. A simple blow out but it lasted all night even with drinking, partying and dancing!

I love that place! I was looking for a good stylist for a long time. Anna is amazing. She always cuts my hair the way I want her to. She’s not only very professional but extremely nice as well. She’ll make sure that you feel comfortable and you’re happy with the result. That place seems to be crowded every single time I go there but that doesn’t make them to forget about you. There’s always someone to ask you if you’re ok or need any beverage.

At first I was skeptical that I would feel out of place here… the crowd is very done-​up and alot of girls look «Kardashianesque”(just made that up!). But, I gave it a try and keep going back. My hairdresser is Jennifer and she is excellent… very laid back and easy to talk to. She was able to understand the more natural looking highlights I wanted (rather than the chunky style) and she is a natural at styling and cut as well. I never received more compliments about my hair than after going to Jennifer. I highly recommend!

I came here yesterday, July 16^th to get a keratin treatment.
Nadia was my stylist and she was absolutely amazing!
The receptionist (didn’t get her name) was very kind and I was offered wine, coffee and water multiple times by her and Nadia «in case you’ve changed your mind!» So nice.
I definitely recommend going to Nadia for anything, she was incredibly kind, funny and personable AND the salon doesn’t charge by ‘length’ of hair which is absolutely ridiculous. They charge by the ounce or half ounce, which makes a lot more sense and gives credibility to the salon. They pour the solution in front of you, so you can tell it isn’t watered down or anything.
I’m very impressed. Now hopefully this lasts me a while! But I will definitely be coming back in a few months.

I came here to get my hair and make up done for a wedding this past weekend. I was running a few minutes late and they were still happy to accommodate me and get me out on time which I appreciate.
Anna did my up-​do and was fantastic. She asked me what I wanted and did her own spin on it. I was so pleased and received so many compliments. She is truly a gem!
I got my make-​up done by Ilene who was nice but I felt like she rushed everything as I was her last appointment (mind you I was Anna’s last appointment as well and she took her time). I felt pressured by Ilene to do fake eyelashes and air brush foundation (an extra 20 dollars each). She didn’t even use clean brushes OR match me for my foundation, she just used whatever was out. When I questioned her, she was extremely rude and obnoxious about it. She also waited and watched me put my money in the tip envelope which is beyond tacky and unprofessonal. She did an OK job, when I left I wished I had time to go home and do it all over myself to be honest.
Overall this place is OK. It seems the girls who work the front desk and some stylists are paid more to gossip with each other and drink coffee than to assist their paying clients.

I have a long story with Da Noi because … The first bridal hair trial was very disappointing for me.
First, let me explain, that I was a very thorough searcher. I came to several beauty salons before choosing da noi. Out of all the other places, at DaNoi they were very polite, patient and took their time to explain me every single detail about bridal hairdos. And since I was a foreign bride, I had A LOT of questions. (And I’m not exaggerating, because at certain places they couldn’t even explain what is the difference between «evening style» and «bridal hairdo» except for the veil!)
So long story short, I came to the first trial with a picture of my dream hairdo, but it turns out that the way you imagine it and the way it comes out — are two different stories. You can never blame your technician for that, because it’s your choice. I came home, realized that I don’t like myself with that hair at all, and scheduled the second trial, which made absolutely happy and confident that I will be beautiful on my wedding day.
I would like to thank Jennifer — my technician at DaNoi for being so patient, understanding and professional. I highly recommend her and think I might come back myself for the routine procedures, because the warm welcoming here can’t be compared to any other places I’ve been.

Wish I could give this place 0 Stars… This was my first and last time ever coming here BTW. Anywho I had my hair colored by Antonio, I asked for highlights, and it came out chunky and brassy. He suggested a glaze on my hair, so I obliged. I honestly don’t see the difference but whatever. Now here comes the worst part, The haircut. Matt was the one who gave me this terrible disgusting haircut, I asked for a long bob, longer in the front, shorter in the back. He did NOT do as I asked. It came out like a straight all around cut. (I hope that makes sense) and it was longer than what I wanted. When I told him to cut it a little bit more, he said «I already cut too much off «so he basically did not want to cut anymore. I also noticed that even though it was a straight cut, IT WAS NOT EVEN!!! The blowout he did was horrendous as well. I couldn’t believe how bad it was. When he saw my face, he told me to come back in a couple of days and he would fix it. I was so frustrated that, i just left it as is, payed and walked out. (mind you, this place was super expensive, you would think with the prices they charge, I would come out looking Fabulous, Yea didnt happen) I decided to go here with all the good reviews I read here on Unilocal.I was so sure I would have an Amazing experience, I am so disappointed. I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. Hopefully I can find a better place in Bay Ridge.
FYI,
I did not go back to get it «fixed». I would never want them to touch my hair ever again!

I have been here several times and I have taken their great customer service for granted. After receiving bad customer service from another salon, I appreciate the attentiveness of Da Noi.
The staff are professional and polite. I am always greeted with coffee, tea or water and a snack.
Additionally, I have received several massages from Barbara and she is awesome.

This was my first time here, having a collection of moderate to horrible experiences at salons in NYC and in Bay Ridge. I worked with Anna (stylist) and Veronica (shampoo). The salon itself is clean, organized, and the entire staff are friendly. I was greeted warmly, my coat was checked, and I was offered beverages by several people within minutes.
Anna was super enthusiastic and talked me through some uncertainty about my hair. I was mulling over how to transition from highlights that are growing out without damaging my hair anymore than it already was or going too dark. She suggested a color glaze to both make the grow out more subtle and to experiment with a darker shade while adding shine. She found a sample of the color and we discussed it at length in advance. I haven’t experienced the thoroughness in the past, and it was much appreciated.
Veronica was extremely pleasant and talked me through each step of the shampoo and glaze. Very attentive as well! Anna came to check on me frequently, ensured I had magazines and that I was comfortable and in the loop on each step. She actually blow dried a portion of my hair before the cut to make sure I was pleased with the color before finishing up. By the time we got to the haircut, I was sure it may be rushed because we were running behind. I was wrong. Anna was so thoughtful and talked me through her vision and spent time ensuring that my layers were just like a I wanted. Again, her attention to detail and communication is far beyond what I have experienced at other salons in Bay Ridge.
A huge thank you! I have finally found a salon in Bay Ridge. Keep up the amazing service!

I come here to see Louie. I’ve never had a cut or color by any of the other stylists so I can’t review for the rest. Louie’s my guy and I followed him from his last location, he’s great! As for the entire salon, the prices are reasonable and it’s VERY busy. Lots going on, kind of chaotic, but the staff is very nice. There’s also a coat check and coffee. Overall, it’s a pretty solid option if you live in the neighborhood but a bit far if you’re traveling from the city or elsewhere.

I am giving this salon 3 stars because my color looks fantastic and the salon itself is very nice, but I won’t come back.
My stylist was very sweet, and as I mentioned, she did an amazing job with my color, but my haircut experience was not great. I like to have a really funky, extreme graduated bob, with it very short in the back and long in the front. When I tried to explain this to my stylist, she gave me what she thought I wanted, which was something slightly longer in the front than in the back. It didn’t look like I had gotten a haircut. She then blow dried it and it looked pretty boring.
To her credit, she did try to work with me. I asked her to thin parts out, and she did, but she kept telling me how my hair is going to be disconnected. I am not a hair stylist so I don’t understand what she meant.
While she did what I asked her to, and in the end it turned out looking ok, she made me feel bad about it, comparing my request to when «Sometimes people want half their head shaved».
She kept saying «I’m doing what you want» which made me feel like she thought my hair looked like crap. Once I was up at the front, paying, people kept complimenting my color and she would say «Yes, the color looks amazing. We had a disagreement about the length but she got what she wanted.» What that read was «Yes my color is good but don’t blame me for the hair, I did what she asked for». Even if i made her give me a mullet, I feel like I shouldn’t be shamed for that. The salons I used to go to in my old neighborhood would never back down at a chance to do something really fun and creative, and make me feel good about it.
I don’t think any of this was done with malice, but it made me feel really bad about myself and the haircut I just spent a nice chunk of change on.
I wish the haircut experience had turned out better because my color really is spectacular, but unfortunately I think I am going to have to try another place next time. I think the work they do at DaNoi is very nice, but I am not sure if their stylists’ sense of what looks good meshes well with mine.

First time here, found this salon through the help of Unilocal!Seems like it is best salon in Bay Ridge.
I have really long hair (took 3 years to grow) and I needed a touch-​up (cutting dead-​ends, trimming my bangs, etc). Through past experiences of bad hair-​cuts, I haven’t let anyone touch my hair for quite some time until now.
Hair wash: I had a girl named Elise, she was a sweet girl and I don’t know if it is the techniques that are taught at this salon or it was just the way Elise washed hair but I don’t think hair was thoroughly washed. It felt like it was just a quick shampoo and condition, and then off to the stylist! Nevertheless, it wasn’t a big deal.
Haircut & Blow: I had a girl named Jennifer — she was amazing.
Sweet girl and basically catered to everything that I wanted done with my hair so I am very happy with the results =) I believe Jennifer was the first girl I have ever went to that I was extremely pleased with my results.
Service: Front desk girls were nice, upbeat and attentive so nothing to be said here. In addition, they also offer a variety of services along with technicians that have different levels of experience which also affects the price ranges.
Environment: Fancy décor, generally it is a nice salon.
Will definitely come back when I need my hair done.

I’ve been here about four times in the beginning of the year, every one except one has been very professional. The first time, I scheduled with a stylist (I forgot her name, I’m horrible with names) she was great.
The other times I went with a stylist from the blow bar, for wash and blow which starts at $ 30. that particular stylist was ok, they use this system where they roll round brushes on your hair to get a curl. I have significantly curly hair, and the stylist styled my hair nice. but when I looked at my roots closely, they weren’t completely dry. this happened every time.
one particular male stylist (not at the blow bar), the only time he spoke to me was to ask me what I wanted done and when I was done. that’s it. I thought that was a little odd but to each its own.
when I was ready to pay, one particular girl at the front desk who wore hot pink lipstick, asked me if she could help me, there was so much going on that I did not realize she was talking to me and someone else asked me the same question and I responded to her. So the hot pink lip stick girl rolled her eyes at me. I decided to let this (rolling of the eyes) go and not come back. not just because of this but over all. nice place though.
also: I like my hair to be washed TWICE, if you want your hair to be washed twice make sure you ask. An assistant that washed my hair only did it once and I wasn’t happy.
