Safeway Car Service

I just moved to the city from sheepshead bay brooklyn and with the thanks to Safeway car service they made my back and forth travels safe and prompt. They are very reliable i would recommend them to all my friends and family.

Very reliable company! I’ve used them many times already and have never had any issues. They are punctual and the cars are always clean. With so many bad car service companies out there it’s good to finally find one I can rely on

I just called after talking to the dispatcher for 5 minutes, address and everything I told him I needed the car to pick me up at 5PM. It is 4PM now. He told me I am sorry we do not do reservations then slammed the phone down.
I will never use them again.

We called and asked for a cab to JFK airport. The operator asked how many people and we told him four. I’m not entirely sure why they sent a Prius to pick us up but it was ridiculous. It was too small and the driver made several attempts, smashing our bag into the trunk. Only three fit successfully. We had to hold the remainder in our hands in an already small car. This slight oversight tells me that this cab company does not pay attention enough to send a big enough car to accommodate its customers. Four people going to an airport does not equal a Prius. the ride was extremely uncomfortable. I will never ever use this company again. I wish I saw the low reviews before calling because I would have went with someone else.

This car service is pretty reliable when you are in the neighborhood of the depot. When further away, they take a long time and over charge in my opinion. I take them bc it saves money when I take the train then hop in a cab. I don’t like that every vehicle smells like cigarette and Ben Gay. It seems like all vehicles were also made before 2000. As they say beggars can’t be choosers. Ride at your own risk but definitely not to make an impression.

I wish I could give these guys no stars. I called to reserve a car to Newark Airport the night before my trip and was quoted a price of 60 dollars plus tolls. I gave an exact time.
The next morning, the driver was 15 minutes late. When I called to see where the driver was, the dispatcher told me to «take it easy Miss.» I didn’t call him for life advice, just to figure out how far away my car was. When the driver finally he wanted to know all about our hotel, how much we paid per person, how many nights we were staying and then told us his life story, which needless to say, was at this point unwelcome. The frosting on this cake came when it was time to pay. The driver insisted it was 70 plus tolls. Then he called his dispatcher who told the driver I was lying (in Russian, presumably so I wouldn’t understand. You picked me up in south Brooklyn, what are the chances of that?!?) and to charge me 70 plus tolls. I paid it because I was already late thanks to those clowns.
To summarize, if you want late drivers who delve into your personal life, rude dispatchers who make mistakes and then won’t make good on their promises after telling you to take it easy when they’re late, use Safeway.

This is the worst car service I ever used. They’re never on time and they lie. They say they have a car when the don’t! My husband almost missed a flight for a business trip because they were late picking him up to go to the airport. After waiting a substantial amount of time, he called and cancelled the car and took his own car to the airport. JUST MADE IT! I called them on another occasion when my father was rushed to the hospital. They said a car will be right over. After waiting and waiting, I called them and they told me to wait ANOTHER 15 minutes! I told them to forget about it and I called another car service which got me to the hospital in plenty of time! I WILL NEVER USE SAFEWAY AGAIN!

Had a horrible experience going from Sheepshead Bay to Lutheran Medical Center in Sunset Park. The driver had no idea how to get there, went the wrong way and got lost. He had a GPS unit on the dashboard AND a smartphone but I wound up navigating from the backseat. A 20-​minute trip took an hour. I would not use them again.

i always considered this car service the best out of all until the last 2 incidents but the experience i had last night just took everything to a whole new level the driver picked me up and i noticed 2 minutes into the ride the he is drunk out of his mind the windows started fogging up and he was zig zagging on the road driving supper slow and fell asleep at, at least 4 red lights i was holding on to the seat the entire time and when i called the dispatcher to complain about this he told me he will call him and tell him to come back and he will never get behind a wheal in his company again apologized a lot until i had to take the same car service the next morning and the same guy came to pick me up i didn’t even get into the car. don’t bother

Used this car service again over the holidays and again afterwards, still very reliable, and unbeatable prices.

Safeway is a reliable no frills car service. They’ve kept their prices reasonable over the years
May not be the best for the bourgeois set. The dispatcher is a bit gruff, but is honest and fair. I’ll continue to use them.

This is the worst car service ever!!! It doesn’t even deserve one star. It was about 3am when a friend called the cab for me. The driver came and I got in. The driver begins to drive off and I ask him how much will it be, he told me and the price blew me away. They were overcharging me for such a short distance. I asked to speak to the company/​dispatcher so once the driver placed me on the phone with the dispatcher, the dispatcher told me if I can’t afford it I need to get a better job and not call that company. I was so furious words could not explain how enraged I was. So I got out the cab and called another. Never again will I ever in my life call this car service! Worst ever! Do not use their service you will be disappointed!

Used this car service around 1am. The service was great. The driver was super fasr.
I wanted to use this car service again two weeks later. We call for car service at the same address. He says the driver is on their way. 15 minutes later we call to check the status. The guy on the phone claims the driver left already. He was very RUDE. I will never use this car service again. Like the other reviewers said, do not get car service from here.

Horrendous! I had call them the night before to make sure I have a car by 7am bc I have a 9am flight to catch. They never showed up at 7am. I had to call 4x before the car came. These guys have no sense of customer service. This is the second time I used them and they are complete assholes. Don’t rely on these people to make your flight. You will never get a car on time from them. And all their cars smell and are old!

No problems here and we reached LGA in record time. Driver was professional and helped with the bags. They only accept cash which put us on the spot!

ZERO STARS. Dispatcher was absolutely horrible. I had a coupon for a $ 25 ride to JFK that was put on my door. They wouldn’t honor it, claiming it was only for certain areas of Brooklyn. When I tried to explain that the coupon had been placed on my door and so clearly that area of Brooklyn ought to be honored, he told the driver to stop the car and tell me to get out wherever we were.
The driver was mortified and looked at me as if to ask what I wanted to do. She kept apologizing for his obnoxious attitude, but it certainly wasn’t her fault. I’ll be filing with the Better Business Bureau.

THE WORST! AS RUDE AS IT GETS!!!
I was quoted one rate, and charged another. Also erroneously charged for a toll.
When I called, Brandon started yelling at me and called me a cheap douchebag, and hung up!!!
Do yourself a favor and find another car service!!!

On October 28, my fiancé and I attended a wedding in Sheepshead Bay. When we left for the wedding, we were not aware that we were headed right into an evacuation zone for Hurricane Sandy. We had no set plan to get back to Manhattan, and if it hadn’t been for Safeway Car Service, I’m not sure we would have been able to get out.
We found Safeway Car Service after learning that other car services my friends used in Brooklyn didn’t seem to service Sheepshead Bay. It had a few Unilocal reviews, a number of them negative, and we decided to call. Someone picked up and assured us a car was on its way, and one arrived, in the rain, after a pretty short wait. The car was comfortable, and the driver was nice, even when we got stuck in some rather insane traffic. The fare was cheaper than we anticipated. We gave him a nice tip and still felt like we came out ahead.
This sort of service is liable to get a disproportionate number of negative Unilocal reviews, so I’ll add my voice and say we had a great experience with Safeway. It was our ticket back to Manhattan, where we would be mostly immobile for the next several days. Extrapolating from my experience, I’d say Safeway is a pretty reliable car service. Give them a call if you need a car in Sheepshead Bay.
