Lauren is a therapist trained in individual, couples and family therapy who works toward the goals of increasing wellness, confidence, connectedness and progress in all areas of her clients’ lives. Lauren utilizes traditional talk therapy within a psychodynamic and family systems framework to help get clients «unstuck» and facilitate their overcoming challenges and difficulties.

Psychobabble, Brooklyn is a therapy practice established in July of 2012 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Lauren, aside from having an irreverent sense of humor, established and named this practice as a nod to the community of Williamsburg and the community’s emerging demographic’s vibrant cultures and sub-​cultures. After years of working for not-​for-​profit agencies and as a 9-​year resident of Northwest Brooklyn, Lauren developed the beliefs that therapy should be dynamic, doesn’t always have to be heavy or stodgy and should cater to the individual. Lauren applies those beliefs to her practice today.

Business Owner

Lauren Urban-​Colacicco, LMSW is a licensed Social Worker who has been working in the field of psychotherapy/​mental health counseling for 8+ years. She graduated from Hunter College School of Social Work in 2006, and has since worked in a variety of agency settings, providing individual, couple and family counseling. She has an abundance of experience working with individuals, both children and adults, going through challenges around life-​stage transitions and adjustments, including but not limited to school issues, marriage, divorce, grief and loss, trauma and coming-​out issues.

Lauren utilizes empathy, practicality, a sense of humor and reflection to aid her clients in easing some of the distress that these difficult transitions can bring. Lauren is skilled in working with both children and adults, and is trained in play therapy, as well as CBT interventions.
