I had a Wonderfull experience at Prospect PowersportS, as soon as you get in, someone welcomed to go though my insurance, Andrew was truly amazing, he was kind enough to spend a fairly amount of time with the agent over the phone to resolve my insurance claim, They got my tyre changed on the spot, checked on me regularly If I didn’t want any water or something.
They are very knowledgeable, great selection of bike. price are very affordable.
This is my go to spot if I need any help or parts.

To be totally honest, my experience at Prospect Powersports was very positive. I went in for a simple tire change and came out with a little more than I asked for. The initial phone call to inquire about their services and prices was informative and I felt comfortable following up the next day. The service time was fast, and the employees were very welcoming, including the owner all the way down to the service agents. Even as they were closing I felt like more than just a customer. Based on my experience with them I cant say anything negative and trust them enough to come back for more work.

2^nd, One of the bikes was defective, it’s took for them 4 months to fix my bike, they not picking up the phone on you, and when they picked the phone they put me on hold for a long time until I give up and hangup.

Brought my bike in for an inspection today needing it done before the end of the month. When I first got there it took some time for them to help me but they were clearly busy with other customers and not just ignoring me. When I finally asked for service it seemed like I would be ignored but they finished up what they were doing and helped me out with my inspection.
I knew off the bat my front brakes were low and they took my bike in and worked on it right then. I also requested for them to bleed my brakes. I spoke with the guy about labor hours before hand (since it is easy work but I needed it done that day and didn’t have time to do it myself) and he told me not to worry about it and that I won’t be ripped off. He told me it should take about 20 minutes. I knew that was a bit optimistic and I think after about an hour and a half they were finished with my bike. It came out to $ 145 — about $ 80 for the pads, $ 50 for labor (including installing and bleeding the brakes), plus inspection and tax.
There wasn’t much to do or anywhere to sit while waiting for the bike so I felt like I was in the way a bit as some of the employees walked back and forth through the showroom. They also didn’t seem as friendly as the guy at the service counter. Overall, it was a great experience considering my rush and I will take my bike back here for any service that I can’t perform myself.

I’m surprised this place is still in business. I can’t speak for the service dept. but I’ve been told by several people not to take bikes here.
This review is for the sales/​retail side. I walked in a few months ago eager to see and potentially buy a new Yamaha FZ. I walked in off my bike with my jacket and moto boots on and helmet in hand which should suggest I’m there for a reason and won’t be a time waster. I walked around for at least ten minutes without a greeting. I could understand if the shop were busy, it wasn’t. Finally I just patiently waited at the parts counter. When it was my turn, the parts guy yelled across the room for someone else to chat with me about the Yamaha. This kid took his sweet ass time, not caring or showing any respect for my time or presence. On top of that, he didn’t know squat about the bike and seemed perturbed that I even asked about test rides or inquiring about demo days even elsewhere.
Worse yet, the entire time I was in the shop they were screening some grainy edit on tv’s featuring squids wheelying down public streets and highways. Combined with proudly displaying things like «german’s» half-​helmets that would be as protective as a yankee cap, they’re encouraging the culture of hooligan squid douchebaggery that kills even experienced riders and stains the reputation of all motorcyclists. How do you guys go to bed at night after a days work of selling inherently dangerous machine’s while not considering your customers safety or wellbeing? Grow up.

I really don’t know what these people with 4 and 5-​star reviews were smoking, but clearly it altered their perception of this shop. I brought my scooter in to get fixed after it got hit by a car when it was parked. I was told it would be done in around 2 weeks and I would be called when they received the new parts and when the service was done. I literally waited for 3 weeks before I heard any word from them and it was me calling them up to see what was going on. When I talk to them, they told me early next week. I just said «ok, let me know» and hung up. «Early next week» came and passed so I called them on week 4 (even giving them a couple extra days). When I talked to them that time, they gave me any sort of excuse as to why it wasn’t done yet. Honestly, if they would have given me the expectation of a month to begin with, I wouldn’t be as upset about this place. I know it’s a small shop but that’s not my job to set customer expectations correctly.
When I did pick it up, nothing was explained to me as to what they fixed and no mention of the next time I should bring it in to get serviced. Prior to this accident, I brought it in for general maintenance and each time i was told when I should bring it in again.
I even tried going to a different maintenance shop to see if i could get my scooter fixed but they pointed me back to this one. That being said, I’m really considering selling my scooter to get a different brand that has more available mechanics in the area.

family run, recently have made service management changes and added a pricing board so hopefully that will appease all the negative comments on pricing. I have been going since 1998 when I picked up my first seca 2 from them. Even though I moved out of the neighborhood i still service my ride here since to me it’s like going to that barber shop where you can kick back with the boys. I’ve had three different bikes since than and always go to prospect. they treat their customers like family and try to squeeze everyone in even thought they are always jam packed.

Love this place just got my new bike from there. That place has a great selection of bikes, plus there always ready to help you out in getting started for you first ride

Over-​inflated bills for standard motorbike service, and
Step-​motherly treatment.
I have gone to this place a couple of times for getting my motorcycle serviced. Both times I have walked out with $ 300+ bills. This is for labor and fluids. No spare parts. No body work. No new installations. Just adjustments and changing of fluids and an oil filter. And mind you, these were the first two services of my brand new Japanese motorcycle so not that there were many things to fix anyway.
I noticed they charged for stuff like fork oil. I checked my motorcycle manual after I came back home and seems like I didn’t even need my fork oil changed for my second service. Something that I am sure they were (or at least should have been) aware of but contributed significantly to me running up a $ 300 bill for a regular service.
And, the best part is that in the two bills I have from them, they have charged me wildly differing amounts from the same thing. For e.g. service #1 — 2 units of fork oil @ $ 14.50 ea. Service #2 — 2 units of fork oil for $ 29.99 ea. BOOM! Fork oil prices must have spiked because of the unrest in Syria and the IS.
AND, there is no way of knowing if all of these fluids were actually changed in my bike. But lets give them the benefit of doubt on that one.
And as for the service, step-​motherly would be the best way to describe it. Nothing that I can point to as obviously unprofessional but everything just seemed distant. Sort of like I wasn’t entirely welcome and that maybe I shouldn’t have bothered bringing in my motorbike at all. Definitely didn’t leave with the impression that I was a valued customer.
Now, as a wrinkle — the owner, Mayo, is a genuinely likeable guy and if it weren’t for him, no chance that I would have made it back for the second service.
Maybe all this stems from the fact that I didn’t purchase my motorcycle from them.
Well, its not going to matter any more. My beloved steed and my hard-​earned dough are going to find a different place.

Just bought a brand new Star Bolt here, and I could not be happier with my purchase and experience. Bruce was a personable salesman, and I felt confident throughout the buying experience. As the service department was prepping my bike Mayo, the owner, told me all about my Bolt and what a great machine it was. I had done nearly a year of research on this bobber, and Mayo knew more than I. The shop was a bit busy, but it’s good to know that they have a large consumer base. Definitely swing by if your in the market.

Great service department. Ask for Sean. He always takes good care of my Honda Shadow and often does maintenance and repairs while I wait.

my expeirence at the dealership was horrible, the sales team is rude, the owner is rude also, i went in to buy a bike and they tried to charge me all these hiddin fees, when i asked about the fees they got upset with me for asking, i am a rider and this is not my first expeirence with dealers, but i will take my buieness somewhere else, not a nice place to spend your money

This review is for the service department.
Today I went here to have my first 600 mile service on my scooter. I made the appointment a day before. The person that helped me was Sean. He explained to me in depth about the service and advised me when the next service should be done.
The service itself took about two and a half hours. When I got it back, it felt completely different in a good way. Would go back here in a heart beat. While I was there, all the customers loved him. I did not hear or see people with issues at all.
Keep in mind that Sean is the service manager. His cell phone seems to ring off the hook with calls and text notifications. But he is really polite and will answer your questions to the best of his ability.
Somethings I did not know I needed and you should bring if you go for service.

I will update my review should something go wrong with my scooter, but I doubt that will happen. Happy riding !

I really like these guys. I’ve been here a few times now. The first time I brought my bike in because the front wheel was badly out of true. Shawn and crew fixed that and also gave the bike a really good inspection and found a lot of other serious problems that another shop had not found or ignored. I appreciate the care they take to make sure everything is working well. They’ve also done small jobs for me for reasonable prices (or free!). They’re a family business: Shawn’s dad and mom both work there from time to time. And although they’re more geared towards new bikes, they have a huge basement full of old parts that Shawn’s dad has accumulated over the years, which is very handy for people with older bikes. The sales staff can be standoffish at times but that’s fine with me. If you’re patient you’ll be taken care of well. I would definitely recommend this place.

Just wanted to give a shout out to the guys over at Prospect Powersports. Picked up a new 2012 FZ6R left over, this is the second new bike I bought this year. these guys are the best, especially Bruce is sales and Sean in service. They could not do enough to help me out, great price and service. I usually only write reviews when I’m not happy about something. LOL. So if your thinking about buying a new bike, this is the place to go.

I went here to have frame sliders installed on my Ducati Monster. They left out the main piece that goes through the engine, so the engine would actually move when stopping or starting. I asked them if they installed the entire kit, and with a straight face the owner lied to me. I also asked them to swap out some handlebars, and these idiots forgot to adjust the brake cables. So everytime I turned left or right, the engine would accelerate. I had to go to a ducati dealer to have them take a look, and they said that the damage done was so severe that they could’nt even let me ride it. I had to order another frame slider kit for $ 100.00 On top of all the shoddy work they did, they charged me $ 275.00 to render my brand new bike unrideable. If you go here, you are a fool. You have been warned.

They get one star because every time I’ve been here (only twice) to buy parts or accessories I have been treated rudely by the wall to wall jackasses. Why are there 5 «salesmen» hanging around with nothing better to do than insult a customer? I have no idea. They get the second star because several people in the motorcycle world have told me that the owner is a great guy and runs a good service shop and so I give them some benefit of the doubt… although I wouldn’t give them my bike to work on. I’d rather give my business to someone who gives me some respect.

I’ve been to prospect powersports three times so far in the last year. Twice to get my ’08 kawasaki zzr inspected and once for a helmet. Their inventory of helmets and accessories is excellent. The 2 times I’ve had my bike inspected the owners son helped me. He was very courteous and professional. The first inspection resulted in me needing a new rear tire which they had in stock and mounted in no time flat. Second inspection took 6 seconds for the $ 6 it cost me. Two thumbs up. I will let them work on my pride and joy any time.

I’ve been to Prospect Powersports both to buy a helmet and, later, to have my ’77 Honda CB550 worked on and have been pleased with the customer service that I’ve received.
For starters, my partner won a bike auction on EBay and we had to drive to NH to pick it up — only he didn’t have a helmet and it was Saturday afternoon and all the shops were closing. I made it to PP right before closing time and, because I absolutely had to have the helmet that day and because I didn’t know the exact side of my man’s head, they allowed me to purchase 2 of the same helmet — in different sizes — and to return the one that did not fit for store credit. Amazing! I was, of course, über careful with the helmets so that there was no damage and they kindly and without any hassle accepted the return a few days later. Same goes for when I used the store credit toward some new tires for my bike about a month later.
Next, my guy & I took our bikes to Prospect Powersports for inspections and, after a bit of a wait that admittedly seemed excessive and unnecessary, Mayl, the owner, came out to do the inspections. His eyes lit up at the sight of the ’77 CB550 that I had purchased a week before this visit and he immediately and generously gave it a once over and let me know about a few tricks and tips for that particular bike, having ridden that model himself in the past. Since then, I’ve had Mayl work on a few things on my bike and he has really gone the distance to take care of my bike and of me (as a fairly novice lady motorcyclist).
Mayl has spent a cumulative 1.5 hours of his own time explaining things about my bike to me and physically showing me how things work and what to look out for. He’s also shown me different bike parts and modeled for me how they work so that I can gain a deeper understanding of how the inner parts of the motorcycle work. He has always been incredibly kind and patient about it. Mayl has done work that was needed on my bike and held off on work that will eventually be needed in the interest of saving me money and allowing me to do things bit by bit.
In my several visits to the shop (5 so far — helmet buy, helmet return, inspection, work 1, work 2), I have been treated with kindness and respect and I have never ever been made to feel stupid or unimportant. I say this because I know there are plenty of places that would dismiss me because I’m new to motorcycles and I’m a ladypants or where, for the same reasons, dudes would be skeevy (Armen Amirian, I’m looking at you, creepo). Mayl even taught me what to look for at gas stations so I could be sure that the fuel was well filtered and wouldn’t be delivering junk into my tank. Solid guy.
The family that owns this shop are lovely people. (the guy who has gotten a bad rap on the other reviews posted here on Unilocal is, I think, an inlaw. I’ve never really dealt with him though, yes, he does seem a bit gruff.)

Was caught in a bind. Needed work on the bike. Had to disappear in asia for a few weeks and left the bike here .This place came through in the clutch. I trust these nyc cats.
