I wish I could say that I am happy that I went to Precision, but I am not. I took my 3 year old SUV there for knocking in my engine and leaking coolant. I was told that whoever did my oil change before did not tighten my oil filter and that my engine was dry. I was also told that my hoses for the coolant was defective and had to be replaced. So after over $ 600.00 later, my car was «ready». Fast forward 2.5 weeks and after 4 bottles of coolant, I return the SUV to the shop today and I was livid! Not only had they not fixed the problem, but his «guys» had taken it upon themselves to replace my dealership license plate holder with one from the shop… and they threw mine away… ALL WITHOUT ASKING!!! WHO DOES THAT???
I completely lost it today and told the owner just how I felt. His «guys» needed to focus on fixing what was broken and not focus on changing customers’ stuff without asking. He insulted me by telling me that I had not reset something he had asked me to do after I got the car back the first time… excuse me genius, I’ve had my car for three years, I think I know how to reset a simple gauge!!! I was fit to be tied at 8am today!
I received a call that my car was ready around 11:30am. Eric did not even have the decency to tell me what the problem was this time. When I asked, his response was «I don’t even know. I told my guys just fix it because I don’t wanna hear it». He couldn’t even take the time to inform me!!! Maybe he thought he was doing me a favor!
I hope it’s fixed this time because I DO NOT want to have to go back there… he would like me much less than he does already.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. THEY WILL SMILE IN YOUR FACE AND BE «NICE» UNTIL YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR CAR BACK AND STAND UP FOR YOURSELF, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A FEMALE!

I have been coming to Precision for my car’s needs for about 4 years now. Since my first visit at Precision I have received exceptional service. The owner, Eric, always explains to me what needs to get done on my vehicle and what should get done in a near future, hence saving me money. Expect quick, honest & cost efficient services at Precision. Overall, I highly recommend this shop to everyone in need of mechanical work.

I used to live in California and once I came to New York I decided to purchase a used vehicle. My boyfriend who lives here recommended me to go here after reading the reviews on Unilocal. I had a feeling that my used car needed some work because it was making a funny sound. I noticed the decrease in gas mileage and I was puzzled to what was wrong with it. I went in on a Tuesday where I was kindly greeted by the assistant who directed me to the owner (Eric). I was so glad he broke down the problems that my car had while also explaining the solutions one by one. Not only is my car in great shape but when I need an expectation I will be coming here!

Came here to do a oil change, great place. Normal pricing, good place to do your car needs. Very neat. Waiting area with comfortable chairs.

As a first time car owner I was pretty nervous about finding a mechanic who I could count on to not take advantage of the fact that I don’t know too much about cars. But all the reviews about Eric are 100% spot on.
I pretty much agree with everything other people here have written (which is the reason I went to see Eric), but I’ll add one thing about my personal experience:
I called Eric the day after I dropped off my car to check in about a few things and the second I hung up I realized that I had one more question. So, I called back, but not wanting to be that annoying customer who calls all the time, I just asked the secretary to relay the message to Eric so that I wouldn’t bother him twice in 5 minutes. The next day when I picked up the car Eric actually said to me that anytime I have a question he wants me to always to ask to speak directly to him so that I can get all the information I need and so that he can ensure that there is 100% communication. I was pretty amazed by this. To hear from a very busy mechanic that «yes, I want you to bother me with whatever questions or concerns you have» was pretty great.
Fingers crossed that I won’t have more car problems, but definitely know where I’ll go back to if I do!

BEWARE: WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHES!!!
I went to Eric for years and really thought I was getting good service. Then one day he crossed a line. He had enough nerve to tell me that I shouldn’t date someone Jewish!!!
I had suggested my husband (boyfriend at the time) go there for basic maintenance. Not only was he rude to my him, he quoted him lesser prices on the phone then gave him outrageous prices in person when he knew who he was. My husband got a second opinion and paid significant less.
That’s was only the beginning…
I gave him a second chance after my car was hit. He was extremely dishonest about the repairs that my vehicle needed, required me to find a part that was needed– which he was paid to do and illegally refused to allow me to pick up my car because he wasn’t able to complete the phony repairs he claimed my vehicle needed. After I finally got my vehicle, I got 2 other opinions both stating that the work wasn’t needed. On top of that he again had the nerve to make several negative comments about my husband.

I’ve been visiting Precision Transmissions and Eric for over three years now, and have always had an absolutely excellent experience.
Everybody knows the bad mechanic stereotypes. Well, Eric goes out of his way to completely turn those upside down. He is incredibly friendly and helpful, and very specific with what needs to be done and why. Every time I’ve needed a repair he’s shown me exactly what was wrong and explained what needed to be done. He has even gone out of his way to save me money on repairs and let me know about things that will need to be considered in the future.
I wholeheartedly recommend Precision Transmissions, and commend Eric for being such a fantastic, friendly and communicative mechanic. There is a reason for all these overwhelmingly positive Unilocal!reviews… it’s all true.

Dissatisfied customer! I do not recommend going there for any car service. I drove in from out of state and needed an oil change and was told that I needed new break pads knowing I did not need them. The man that took care of me was very dishonest and tried to scam me by saying I needed services to my car that were not necessary. Do not trust these people!

Eric was honest, fast, and professional. Could not be more pleased.

I have been a customer at Precision Tranmissions for about a year and a half. There are two
qualities that I hope to find in a car mechanic: ability to diagnose what’s wrong, and honesty.
Eric, the owner at Precision, has both these qualities at a very high level.
Before hearing about this business, I used to be a customer at another well known auto shop on Union Street in Brooklyn. The other shop was good at diagnosing car problems but I have found that Eric will sometimes tell me that my car doesn’t need repairs right now, if it doesn’t.
Always great news. It never used to happen when I was a customer at the other mechanic shop.
The attention to each customer is also amazing, thanks to the owner’s commitment to excellence.

I have been faithfully going to Precision Transmissions since my first review nearly 5 years ago. The bar was set high after my initial, extremely positive experience. Eric and his team have taken excellent care of my car over the years – my needs have ranged from body repair to the scarier, under-​the-​hood stuff. I go here for absolutely everything, and there is always great communication and a quick turnaround. And most importantly, Eric is honest, friendly, and patient – a rare trifecta when it comes to car repair, I’ve found. Such a relief to have a mechanic who I trust.

Ultimately, I’m sure these guys do great repair work – HOWEVER, the «best» price I was quoted was DOUBLE what I paid another legit place to do the same work. These guys kept saying, «we need to do ‘X’ so that it’s properly done» but so much of the quotation was fluff and extras that were totally unnecessary, despite the explanations and «computer glitches».
If I was going through insurance, I probably wouldn’t care, but I was paying out of pocket and they smiled and nodded as I explained my plight – and still tried to charge me an arm and a leg. I went elsewhere and was thrilled to pay half for the same result. Despite a friend’s recommendation, precision would have broken the bank :/

Hands down the best and most honest mechanic i have ever, ever encountered in my life.
Though this proclamation may sound too good to be true and too promotional to be a honest review… but the simple truth is i have never in my life experienced a mechanic who is as good, as honest, as Eric at Precision Transmissions. And as long as i am in NY i wouldn’t dare in my life take my car anywhere else in NY if i can avoid it.
As we all know one of the toughest things about finding a mechanic for those of us who don’t know cars very well is finding an honest one. because if you don’t know anything about cars, you really have no idea if what they recommend you really need, how serious it really is, what is needed and what is superfluous, and for that matter what they are talking in general sometimes!
Eric not only is straight-​forward and clear, but he always seems to try to find the best and least expensive option for you. And when he can save you money he will even when he doesn’t have to and you have agreed to pay more (i have had more than one occasion where he quoted me a certain price, I agreed to the service, and he actually came back and reduced the price because he figured out how to do it cheaply or in less time. Pardon my cynicism with mechanics… but this is simply amazing!
Perhaps there is a better, more honest mechanics in NY. But if there is i have never met him. And based on close to 6 or 7 years using Precision Transmissions over 2 different cars, i wouldn’t even bother spending the effort trying to find one. Because one need not look any further. After 24 years of driving in major cities across both coasts, i have literally never dealt with a mechanic who is consistently honest and i entirely trust without second thought.

No hyperbole here. Eric is the best mechanic you will find. I live in Carroll Gardens and could easily go to any nearby mechanic. Instead I take my car 30 mins out of the way to Precision Transmission.
Eric’s shop does super high quality work. I have had both engine and body work done here. Probably four different visits.
I love how transparent he is with the work that needs to be done. In fact, he’ll offer to show you and give you the broken parts he replaced. Then he’ll take the time to walk you through the itemized bill so you know exactly what you are paying for.
I recently brought my vehicle here for a lot of body work. I had two accidents, both repaired at the same time. Eric went out of his way to fight the insurance companies for me. Phone call after phone call. He was not willing to accept after market or used parts. I needed a new door and Progressive kept trying to send used doors. He sent 3 doors back until he got the new one.
To say Eric goes above and beyond would be an understatement. I snuck a photo of him as I was backing out of his garage onto busy Atlantic ave — because Eric stood in the rain and stopped traffic to make sure I get out safely. This is the kinda guy you want working on your car.

Eric is the most amazing business man I’ve dealt with in the auto industry. Went in for an unscheduled oil change on a busy day. I was good to go in about 20mins. They even looked at a minor dent on my car and Eric told me to come in the following week to have it pushed out. NO CHARGE!
I recommend this place to so many people that I might as well be head of their PR department. Lol!

I always find it so nerve-​wracking taking my car into any mechanic in this city: I never feel like I can trust anyone or that I’m getting a reliable opinion. Thankfully, my experience with Precision was A++.
The whole process (diagnostics, new belts and battery– including ordering the parts from a local source) took about 2 hours on a friday afternoon before closing, which I feel is incredibly reasonable. After a few days of freezing cold, the belts began to squeal when starting the car. I called Precision and Eric (Owner) accomodated me immediately, and they tightened the belts with no hassle or charge. I was in and out within 20 minutes.
This business is a definite find! Don’t hesitate to trust your car to them.

Finally a trustworthy mechanic! I’m new to Brooklyn and had to get a state inspection. Based on reviews and the fact that it was really close to me, I chose Precision.
E. was super kind, honest and did not haggle me. I am currently in the middle of another claim and he gave me a heads up on what to expect from insurance agents.
That was greatly appreciated.
I did not feel scammed, and E was courteous the entire time. He even yelled at one of his delivery guys for making me wait because I also had my 2 year old with me. Haha.
I always like having options and E did exactly that– told me what my options were, so I never felt pressured to do something.
I ended up having to get my wipers changed (haven’t changed them in 3 years lol) but he told me that the brands he had were still expensive even though they’re after market. He said I could get the actual dealership brand which was $ 11 more if I want or go check out a major store to get a better deal.
I respect that kinda honesty.
He even apologized for the wait, which was a nice wait. We talked about kids. I definitely recommend this place. Even if I’m out of town, this place is going on my speed dial

So, we came here after reading the positive Unilocal reviews. I had my fiancé take the car in to this shop, as their hours conflicted with my work schedule. Honestly, we were relieved that someone would be able to help us with the issues on our 2006 Lexus. Bad decision and it makes me wonder if people who left the reviews received a reliable second opinion.
We took the car to Lexus and got a $ 2600 quote, we took the car to Precision and got a $ 1900 quote to replace our struts. He told my fiancé that he didn’t use after market parts (ummm that’s like saying you only wear Nikes) and that we’d need part from he manufacturer. My car is a 2006. It’s old enough that there are reliable aftermarket options available. This is the 4^th car I’ve owned and 2^nd Lexus. There are reliable aftermarket options available.
Foul #2 They also told my fiancé that our struts were leaking onto our tires and that we would also need to replace our tires and that the tires we had were no longer in production so he came back with an expensive quote for our tires (that were just purchased in July). Turns out, our struts are encased and our tires are protected from scenarios such as that.
Luckily, I remembered I had a good friend from college who sells cars and has a garage he uses regularly. While I acknowledge that I might have received a friend rate, the job only cost us $ 700. I’m not saying they do bad work at Precision, but I am saying get a reliable second opinion.

Honest. Trustworthy. Knowledgable. These guys are good.
These folks and holy land are my go to auto repair places. They have shown themselves, honest, prompt, reliable and good communicators.
